This post may come off as abrasive but I've always been curious: Who is Solo and why do we care so much what he thinks? I see this in multiple movie threads. Is he a legit movie critic that posts here?

I thought ruffalo was great, but it took awhile to warm up to him. Seeing so many different actors play him was weird. Ruffalo is probably the best.

There are 4 or 5 guys who post in every movie thread, Solo is one of them. It's no different in any other sub-section of GAF.

He is a MovieGAF regular. That's it.

EDIT: Damn you all above meeee.

lol, not even close

I'm a civil engineer who posts on GAF and stuff.

Ah ok. Just wanted clarification. I thought I was missing something.

Mulitquote function suddenly proves it's worth.

I'm just one rung below craft services in the film criticism world. One rung above Roger Ebert though.

Ebert really dropped the ball with the Avengers review. Unlike his usual stuff, it was so boring to read.

Yeah man, after sleeping on it for a few nights, I realized that I was just caught up in the moment. I didn't really enjoy myself watching this movie. Nothing but boring action sequences that looked slightly better than a SyFy movie and cheesy one-liners. I only laughed when Coulson died, and how bad of a villain Loke turned out to be.

Thankfully GAF helped me see this movie for what is. Hopefully Nolan and Scott can rescue us from the drudges.

It's just not very good. We're early post-coitus here; give it a few months and everyone will be able to reflect on it more clearly and it'll be thrown into the pile with the rest, as the cycle inevitably goes.

The haters were out in full force before the movie ever came out. They will be the ones who will continue to shit on the movie at every possible opportunity. Inevitable GAF cycle, indeed.

Fortunately, most everyone else enjoyed it.

I can understand people saying they didn't like the movie, but when someone says its awful or a shit movie, it just makes me laugh. Best superhero movie ever and that ain't gonna change.

Indeed. Avengers was worth the 4yr wait.

I'm not as legit as Korey though. I don't have banners.

Go one better. Make banners for your hype posts.

And yeah, I want Maria Hill to be a pain in the butt. Not even like a "badass", take-names-kick-arse kinda character, just a real stubborn character who doesn't really give a shit what any one thinks. That's more her style. (But not Maria Hill from Civil War, god damn it, fuck that story)

So, it's been a LONG time i've read a comic, i was a huge Spawn (yeah, come at me bros!!!!) fan back in the 90's/00's but i lost all track after the godawful post 100th number and stoped reading anything. Now i ask, what is so bad about Civil War? As i said before, never read it and don't know anything about it.

Going to see it again tonight at the IMAX with my son. I only do multiple viewings maybe once per year or two. Though this year I will do it twice (Avengers and Hobbit).

She's not the hardass bitchy Maria Hill I'm used to, but she's Cobie Smulders...fucking cute as hell and still pretty tough.

She can definitely look the part too:

That is perfect.

Spiderman's only competition was 28 weeks later which did 9 million on OW with 2200 theaters. Dark Shadows has 3700 screens OW and is expected to do 35-40 Million Weekend

Yes but The Avengers also does have the advantage of having currently a Monday # that is some 85% higher than Spidey 3, and has far better WOM. Dark Shadows will serve as nice counter programming, but The Avengers is not dropping some 70% this weekend.

I doubt there will be a directors cut. Prpbably hust deleted scenes as an extra, and not reinserted into a re-edited film.

more like 55-60% drop, which tallies to 85-90 million 2nd weekend

I just found out people didn't like Maria Hill when I got to the internets, I thought she was great, the beggining was more her than Nick Fury.
I was genuinely afraid she was going to die at the beggining.

We already knew this before the movie came out, but yeah, really great news. Apart from Steve Rogers in a restaurant to meet Betty, we'll also see an extended dialog between Harry Dean Stanton (the "you got a condition" guy) and Ruffalo. It's supposed to be an eye opener moment for Bruce where the old man gives him words of wisdom or something, and he has a 'come to jesus' type of moment which makes him go help.

It'll be interesting to see why they took that out, since Ruffalo seems to think he knows exactly why (meaning it's controversial or something, and not screen time related). Can't wait.

60% is the highest I would give for the drop. I am thinking high 45%-53% drop most likely due to the legs it showed over the opening weekend.

If it somehow manages to have a smaller than 40% drop, which is incredibly unlikely, we are entering uncharted territory.

I just had a HUGE argument in spanish via facebook against some guy that did this awful "critic".
Long story short, he calls himself a huge comic fan and he says that the movie is crap because:
- The movie is NOT what he expected
- It's made for children
- Characters are not like their comic counterparts at all, and movie Hulk sucks
- It has no heart and it's shallow
- He claims that his review is as objective and neutral as it gets and then proceeds to rant against hollywood movies.

I just tried to tell him that opinion =/= facts, and that if he said "I didn't like the movie" it was ok, but if he said "the movie sucks" he had to back it up. I wasted my time, greatly. He removed all my comments.

I can't stand people who delete comments that are not bashful in any way whatsoever. That shit during facebook arguments is so revealing, especially when done to multiple people telling you you're a fool.

Incredibly revealing, as well.

Because what a director says doesn't mean jack shit in these matters. The studio decides that kind of stuff.
Yeah, I don't think it'll happen either. Maybe, though. Ruffalo seemed to indicate there was a specific reason (other than length) that his Banner deleted scene wasn't included... so who knows.

Whedon isn't really the sort of director who would say something without being sure about it though. It's not like the production was problematic. Everyone is on the same page here, and the movie is a huge success. If he says there is a director's cut on blu-ray, they probably already agreed on it.

You're not wrong but he sounds fairly confident that it's happening. Hopefully they don't pull the rug out from under him.

I know he just Directed/Wrote the Movie with the biggest OW of all time, but it's still Joss Whedon. He's taken carpets getting pulled out from under him to almost a scientific level of predictability.

If you overlook some of the over the top ones, he has some valid points, why attack him and get personal?

Do you want Armond White's contact info?
