What would you guys think of Hawkeye or Black Widow movies? Do you think they could carry them on their own?

Or maybe they could team up, do a Hawkeye and Black Widow movie. Or a Shield movie about those two and Nick Fury.

So uh, was Loki's mind control thing just a rip off of the Anti-Life Equation? Because that's the feeling I got.

Been toying with the idea of them having solo movies, but since they're S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, I think those two would work best in a movie about S.H.I.E.L.D overall. No long-winded origins needed for Hawkeye and BW, but it can be referenced.

Pretty much, I'd like a movie about them and S.H.I.E.L.D. prior, during and after the initial five movies plus The Avengers.

Hawkeyes power is that he does his skills from a distance. So I don't know how exciting his action scenes would be without somebody running intereference. So maybe a duo movie with Widow if at all. But I'd rather they not waste money on hawkeye. Scarlet was a pretty compelling Widow though.

There's already a Hawkeye movie coming out this year:

I went and saw it last night. It was pretty good. I do have one question though. Can Banner control the Hulk? During the final battle, why was the Hulk helping the Avengers instead of destroying everything it saw?

Not to mention he's a boring character. He was the most boring character in the entire movie. He should have been cut out of it.

I'm happy with Widow/Hawkeye just showing up in other films. Can't say they're that compelling on their own. They should be in the next Hulk film.

What does Whedon personally stand to make from this film? In his open letter to fans he joked about getting a percentage of the gross, which - if true - could make him more money than he's made in his entire life so far.

I don't think he gets a percentage (although now he probably has more leverage to negotiate a percentage for Avengers 2 or 3), but in this Forbes interview (before the movie came out), he does mention a bonus:

Forbes: If you can make 500% margins on “Avengers,” the studio will probably be pretty happy.

Whedon: [Laughs] I might even get that bonus.

I think Black Widow could be a great movie. Make Hawkeye her sidekick, send them on missions and whatnot. You could them to introduce A.I.M.

Cap 2 heavily involves SHIELD. Fury is a major character in the plot. I'm betting Hawkeye and BW make appearances as well.

Depends if Sharon Carter is in the film, Widow might be deemed unnecessary if so. (Also Marvel probably wouldn't mind knocking ScarJo's pay off the film in favour of whoever might play 13.)

he's boring in the comics too and they keep giving him new series! if those weirdo comics editors were in charge of the films, we'd be seeing hawkeye 6 direct to dvd already.

Are we going to see Dum Dum Dugan and the Howling Commandos again? I liked the cut of his jib.

"Oh, yeah, Cap. We forgot to tell you your buddies from WW2 survived by comicbook mystic potions. Well, you guys have fun on your mission."

The only upcoming movie to really diverge from this will be “Captain America 2,” Feige explained. “Cap, who is stuck in the modern day with no friends or family, there will be some revelations of who is still alive from his days in WWII, but S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury are kind of his confidants right now,” he said. “So of all these movies, ‘Captain America 2′ will be most closely associated with ‘Avengers.’”

I demand Baron Zemo!

I wonder if the Red Skull will be back in Captain America 2.
If the Tesseract opens the doorway to other worlds, maybe it sent him to Asgard or some other world at the end of the first movie.

EDIT

The two writers who wrote Cap 1 are writing Cap 2. They said this in 2011.

"The story will likely be in the present day. We're experimenting with flashback elements for more period World War II stuff. I can't say much more than that but we made it baggy enough to refer to more stories in the past"

So it seems we will see them again.

To go along with that there is the latest statement from Marvel.

"The second installment will pick-up where … The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world."

Why? I feel like the 4 year wait for this one just made the payoff even sweeter.

If they started doing an Avengers every two years, the impact of it being a big EVENT would quickly wear off.

There was a 4 year wait because this has never been done before and they needed to set up all the characters individually first. Now that they've done that, there's no need to wait 4 more years to get the team together again (especially since the team is already assembled).

I mean we had a Harry Potter film every year and no one complained, what's wrong with 2 year gaps between Avenger films.

Edit: Also if we have 4-year gaps between Avenger films how old is Robert Downey Jr. going to be in Avengers 3?

So, will the next Avengers be called the New Avengers and feature the new Spiderman? You know... If they get the clearance from Sony. That would be cool.

And yeah. Could Banner control his Hulk the whole time? Why would he attack Black Widow?

Somebody posted an interview excerpt where they explained when Banner chooses to let Hulk out hes more able to distinguish friend from foe. When its out of hostility and anger he just rages.

Well technically there were 2 year gaps between 2-3, 4-5, 5-6. Plus those were closely adapted from books. I think something as open to interpretation as The Avengers needs a little more time to cook. Especially if they are trying to connect the solo films in between.

That was Renner's/writers fault. The character is actually pretty cool and very funny. Rivals Deadpool in the smartarse stakes.

Red Skull will come back so Winter Soldier can murder him towards the end and Hugo Weaving can retire from big popcorn films in peace.

Also, if Zemo gets introduced, I want the plot to involve Simon Williams get ion'd up and it all going terribly wrong. Actually, if they play their cards right, Cap 2 is a good opportunity to expand the MCU a hell of a lot- they could bring in A.I.M. and let Red Skull and Baron Zemo attempt a take-over so they may resurrect H.Y.D.R.A. in the 21st Century. Bring in A.I.M., bring in Zemo and the threat of a neo-H.Y.D.R.A. group, set up Vision for Avengers 2 (get the Williams part done so S.H.I.E.L.D. can capture his brain waves, and then shove it in the O.G. Human Torch robot Stark probably has somewhere)... potential, guys

I'm starting to think that Spiderman joining the Avengers and the Hulk Control question appearing on almost every page is a running joke... Is it?

its funny cause i seen the poster at the theater when i went to see the Avengers movie and thought to myself "fuck this movie...." cause it wasn't Matt Damon. Then when i was walking out after the movie i was psyched to see him on the poster lol

Sorry bro. But I'm hardly inclined to read a 200+ page thread with unmarked spoilers prior to seeing this film. Today.

The only other film I've seen Renner in is National Lampoon's Senior Trip. He got off with a chick with a mouth full of food. It was rank.

I really don't like Renner's acting in MI:4. His little monologue about guarding the couple is unbelivable and wooden as hell. One of the worst bits of acting I've seen in a while in a Hollywood film.
