Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

I played for a good 3 hours and never got disconnected, every game at launch (this big) has problems, especially with online RPG/MMO's.

I can't remember the last singleplayer RPG that had these kinds of problems at launch.

Just woke up.

OT2, and server fuked up still. I am not surprised. Glad I convinced my friend to go to work. She only works til two and server down til then. I still remember Vanilla WoW, and I had a feeling it would be more like that then their more recent releases. Problems were to be expected but damn, this is just silly now. Its crazy how blizzard can fail so hard in this. A game 12 years in the making. The amount of preorder and the popularity of the game, they knew the numbers were going to be high. For having the amount of money at the disposable its kind of disappointing they still have their hamster run server :P

Managed to log into the US hardcore servers so it looks like things are getting fixed. Servers might actually go up before the time they said.

holy tits kripparians game just went down as-well :lol RAGE inc

Also - Newbie question.. You can't alter your stat points anymore? Doesn't that lead to more possibilities of people being exactly the same? Eventually people will find the best builds for each of these characters which means 'Best skills to put in your hot key bars' since you can no longer put points into skills to make them stronger, correct? So really the only two things differentiating you from other people is your gear and the skills you decide to use?

Feels like they removed another wall that prevented people from being the exact same as everyone else. Makes me sad. Eventually people will find the best skills and the best gear and just be mirror clones of each other it feels like..

Other than that.. I'm loving the game :)

Jay Wilson's response.

For those not willing to click a youtube link: "There was only one right answer before."

Well since servers are down and no one can play, what does everyone think of the game thus far?

huge bummer. the competitive flair is gone. no shared loot. no party alliances and betrayals. no seedy underground dark realm chat and trade. the anarchy is gone. this isn't the diablo i wanted.

but that's me.

The servers are down? I have been playing for the past 5 hours without even a hint of lag.

The login servers are bogged down heavily and the servers that control the creation of new games are completely busted. People who were playing before that happened are fine. Don't leave your game or you won't be able to make a new one until they fix it.

So I got a Witch Doctor to 10.. and I have a few notes and questions..

Zombie Dogs are hella weak :( They die in a few hits it feels like. Against the Skeleton King all 3 died in 1 hit. Hopefully they get better

Spiders are ugh.. Tossing bottles nonstop and them disappearing so fast leaves me to get swarmed. Wish they absorbed damage as well like pets or minions but enemies just ignore them and go straight for me. Hopefully these get better. Got the rune for Leaping Spiders but they are also just as bad :(

I'm approaching level 20, never used zombie dogs (didn't care for them in the beta), and I didn't start using spiders until I get the second rune (queen). WD has a lot of great skills, try fiddling around with a few. The class really kicks into gear in the 10-14 range, but it took me awhile to settle on skills and tactics I enjoy.

So just like D2? Or am I just misremembering the "X STR, Y DEX, Pump VIT, lol Energy" guidelines?

It's basically the same thing except changing skills isn't a hassle.

They had some interesting experimental builds that were weapon dependent but that's before they introduced the crazy runewords

Which would be worse: Periodic maintenance where the servers are down (like now) or a login queue (where you could be the 10,000th person in line)?

Both have their chances for hilarity and rage. I'm fine with either.

Mind you, I'll probably change my tone when I'm off work and can't play.

Agreed on the lack of anarchy, disagree on everything else.

I just got to the character creation/select screen, and I noticed that the game created 10 demon hunters while I was continuously trying during the chaos yesterday, lol.

I figured out why I hated the Monk the first time I played- 2H is just miserably slow compared to DW. Would love to see this adjusted.

Guys, the servers won't be stable till about an hour from now.

Blue posted this in D3 forums:

"11:30 a.m. PDT- We are in the process of performing an emergency maintenance for Diablo III servers in the Americas to resolve several issues that are currently impacting the game. This maintenance may cause some interruption in communication, ability to log in, use of in-game features, and disconnections. We anticipate all servers will be available for play at approximately 1:30 p.m. PDT. We will provide further updates as necessary. Thank you for your patience."

I love both dogs AND spiders..

Haha, damn. How's he faring btw?
His team is really strong. If servers aren't gonna fuck them up, I think they'll manage inferno first

I think I'm going to restart my Witch Doctor. I figured the male had more personality than the female, but I really dislike his voice actor. The female WD seems a lot better in that regard.

Was an offline mode really too much to ask?

This is really frustrating, it's not like we're playing a fucking mmo here

Yeah but, for the most part, there were staples that you built towards. Front ended build design. D3 just switches it to the back end. Design on the fly and as circumstances change rather than plan from the start.

To each their own, I suppose. I greatly prefer it since it allows for more flexibility and my math nerd min/max feeds off of this stuff.

Just got kicked out of the game because my connection was lost. I knew this is how it would be, but it's still so jarring to have that happen.

No but his reference to casuals was what prompted me to post about Inferno, as did another poster.

What is considered an achievement most of the time is laughable and I really wish you could have more of a unique character with stat allocation and at the very least, having to pay a ton of gold to change spells or talents.

Name your male WD Dhalsim and run around shooting firebats and yelling "YOGA FLAME".
