okay holy fuck this shit is creepy. So far I like it, it's sublime with heavy emphasis on low, segmented bass chords. The second track is seriously impressing me.

edit: oh god DAMN there was a definite hint at Horner's sudden brass hits from ALIENS. No mistake.

Yeah... don't look at the international trailer or the gifs from it.

Shit gets rough. I bailed immediately from a glimpse of a gif.

ohhhh yeah this definitely belongs alongside the previous scores just fine. Hints of Horner here and there and some very cool, unique electronic stuff is really making this a great listen so far.

After Social Network and GWTDT I would have liked to hear a Reznor/Ross stab at this score.

Me too. Like Solo my hopes for this soundtrack weren't very high, but I am more than pleasantly surprised/impressed with it.

James Horner style brass runs all over the place. I am pleased.

No. Aside from a once in a moon occurrence, I won't listen to any score before seeing the movie.
Then honestly I don't think you have something good to stand on from which to comment because there's a sample available in front of you. Needless to say I don't share your pessimism.

He was commenting on the composer's previous work, not passing premature judgement on a score he admitted he hasn't heard yet.

I love hearing scores in advance. When I'm watching the movie for the first time and familiar music starts playing, I dunno, something about it gives me more of a connection to it.

I also hold movie scores in really high regard and its one of the elements about a new film that I get really excited for. Also helps ease the wait.

Correct. I was trying to say – poorly, it seems – that his pessimism wasn't warranted, or at the very least he should reconsider. Wasn't saying he was passing judgement.

Good man. The only time I can remember doing so is for John Carter.

I did it for Dragon Tattoo, which is the only recent time I can recall it. Otherwise, I want my impression of the music to be colored by the scene it accompanies, not the other way around.

I haven't seen the other films, should I watch them first or can I just go into this one without having seen them? I think this one is a prequel. This film was not on my radar but the trailer was pretty good so I decided I might as well.

You don't have to have seen the other films for this one at all. Though you should definitely feel bad about not having seen them.

Exactly. It's odd to me that anyone would want to take away the context set by the film.

I figure I'll probably watch them afterwards if I enjoy the film. As for not watching them earlier, what can I say? The other members of my family don't really like movies, and especially not movies about aliens, so I never got to see them when I was a kid.

I have a feeling that watching Prometheus first could ruin a lot of the surprise in Alien. Though watching Alien first might have the same effect, but probably not as much.

I'm sure Prometheus is being done such that the film will be more rewarding if you're familiar with the Alien series already.

WTF, is that real?

IE is already terrible, but "expecations" is just ridiculous.

The soundtrack is pretty unique but bears the most resemblance to Alien 3.

Track 18 is fan service.

25 is :)
