Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

So is there no reason to actually make a second character of the same class? I really don't like that change, it limits a lot of the replayability for me. One Lvl 60 Barb is the same as any other level 60 Barb except for equipment. That sucks to me.

Yeah. It's got it's ups and downs. I agree with you to an extent, but the way they have it allows you to play however you want. There are so many viable strategies and ways to play - its more akin to Bastion than D2. I like that element.

So by the weekend, when the servers are fine, will people stop bitching?

I understand some people want to play the game immediately, but honestly, some are acting as though they had NO idea the servers would be buttfucked on launch day. This thing is arguably the most anticipated PC game this gen.

The always online thing is rather annoying, but it's an anti-piracy thing, due to real money transactions being made.

Take a deep breath, open your Steam library, pick a game, and play that until the weekend, hell even Thursday or Friday.

RELAX.

I hope so. The bitching about servers when anybody with any sense would have known this shit was inevitable is tired.

I have sense. I expected some instability. I didn't expect losing my progress over and over again. That never even happened to me in 6 years of WoW. It's infuriatingly awful.

ya I love it too. Still considering rerolling my class >.>

Yeah, That's what what I was using (arcane orb and MM) Seemed to be the most effective..but like you say, the most boring. Frozen Orb >>>> Arcane Orb :(

My favourite Wiz so far (just finished Act 1), is using a mix of Slow Time, Twisters, Arcane Torrent and Magic Missiles. So much fun <3

Porkchop#1635 - America

Playing a couple characters with friends, but when they're not around (like tonight) I wouldn't mind doing some games with you folks.

So uh, I was almost at the end of Act 1, then went to play with a friend who was considerably earlier. When I went back to go to my own game, I went to change the quest but was set a full two quest stages back, meaning I'd have to redo a relatively long dungeon, the
spider
one. I also lost the waypoint I got after that.

What gives?

This happened in the beta too, you'd be bumped back a couple of waypoints if you quit right when you reached the skeleton king and came back.

I honestly think the rigid quest structure (complete with start game at questpoint X) is one of the dumbest big changes in the game. Waypoints should be permanent and universal.

What the hell? This means every time I want to play with my friends, I run the risk of losing progress? That's crazy.

This happened to me when I switched characters/went in a friends game who was earlier in his quest than me. What I had to do was go to "change quest" in the main menu and select the later quest, then make a game. That fixed it.

FUCK YEAH just got another barbarian legendary

I'm playing on a Mac (2007 MBP) and it runs super well in Windows 7. Switching over to OS X, it runs like garbage. This game is definitely optimized more for one over the other.

really?

Im on a macbook (the aluminium one before they started calling them pros)... its got Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz 4gb ram and a Geforce 9400M and Im running windows 7.... I had to turn everything down :( 800x600, low textures, no shadows etc...

then i watched my bro play it on his old PC (not sure what it is but its a core 2 duo but with a better graphics card) and its beautiful.... night and day...

i want to get a new laptop but im really waiting for the next mac release... SIGH - i wish they would hurry up!!

Yeah, the point I mean is that the change quest box didn't catch up to me. I was on stage 3 of a quest, but the game only lets me get to stage 2, which is a large jump in this case.

Nope, that's not what I'm talking about. I mean after switching the quest back up to the SK one.

There was a waypoint right before you go in to the skeleton king's arena, and as far as I could ever tell there was no way to ever get that waypoint on a fresh game.

It would appear as if Diablo won't run well on my 2009 MBP even on low settings, I am a sad Panda. Time to look into building a PC.
Did you make sure to change your power settings to "high performance" in your energy settings? Do that. Also, if you upgrade to 8 gigs of RAM it'll prolly help. Mine is at low and runs fine, at max resolution. What are your specs?

So guys. I downloaded that Radeon Pro program, even forcing stuff won't work. I really want to force AA in this game, even if I get lowered fps. I've tried dicking with the CCC options on my card, toggling the AA in game off and on, nothing seems to work.

i expect to at least be able to chose a higher difficulty right from the get go. my dog could play this and never die, this is no fun.

I'm guessing you've never played Diablo before.

Countdown to moaning how hard Inferno is in 5..4..3..

Normal is basically one big tutorial for the casuals.

You would get destroyed if you could strat at nightmar right away... I think you don't understand the concept. The game is meant to be played in order.

You get from level 1 to 30 in normal, 30 to 50 in nightmare, 50 to 60 in hell and then inferno at 60... It's not like a first person shooter where you can just choose a diffictulty.

So what's the general consensus on classes?

I'm diggin the monk, but not actually 'swinging' around the loot weapons for his attacks is a bit of a bummer lol.

then make normal a bit more challenging. dying is almost impossible (act 1) i'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.

;_; GIMME

Btw Yoshi, what build are you running? I just completed SK in NM and had no problems at all up to him.
fury barb tank atm, many defensive skills/runes

I'm not sure why the Diablo difficuilty mechanic is so hard for you to understand..

Seriously, only getting up to Act 1 Normal and complaining that it's easy - ridiculous. Just like the people who complained about the freaking beta.

Mine is a c2d GeForce 8600m with 4gb ram. I'm playing it at 1400x900 with high textures as low shadows. It's a good generation behind yours and runs tolerably for me. It's an aluminum MBP from 2007.

I'm also going to buy a new MacTop this year. Can't wait for the new model.

why not make it
normal
hard
harder
very hard?

but instead they made it

incredibly easy

i asked if it gets harder later on, i only comment on act 1. act 1 is no fun at all.

Tell me about it, but at least it seems like the game does get harder in Act 2.

Normal Act 1 usually isnt that hard. Diablo II was the same way, and it slowly ramps up from there. Also the more players in the game, the harder it is.

When you play on harder difficulties, you get better items AND you run into more unique demons.

Yes! I missed my UPS delivery early in the morning but after I got home from work, I saw the UPS truck driving around my neighborhood so I flagged down the driver and asked if came by my house earlier. He said yes and handed me my game. Installing now.

After about 3 and a half hours I have a level 12 Barbarian going. Still in Act 1.

I have settled on a build that may be different than what is intended by the devs.

Mouse Left Bash (fury generator)
Mouse Right Cleave (fury generator)
Mouse 4 Hammer of the Ancients.
Mouse 5 Ground Stomp
(have not unlocked others yet).

With Mouse 1 and 2 I constantly generate fury as they are both primary skills.
When running into a pack I open up with Cleave and then Bash some mobs to stun them.

By then I have enough fury to use Hammer of Ancients a few times. If I get in trouble I use Ground Stomp. It is working pretty well.

This works well in the early game, but we will see how long it lasts. A lot of Barbs may not like that fact that I am not using Frenzy or Leap. Leap is so fun that it may be hard for people to understand why I am doing without it right now.

good i only asked if it gets at least a little bit harder later on normal. i don't understand why you should have to run trough a game where you literally can't die. but if it gets harder i don't complain.

Stun will lose effectiveness later on in the game; great for normal, though.

so from my understanding the auction house is the only way to trade? no more creating games to trade item for item? or am I completely wrong

You can die. I've died a few times. A huge group of ranged mobs can tear you apart as a Demon Hunter.

No leap? I LOVE leap... you are suddenly sooooo mobile once you get it.

I'm running with Cleave, Hammer, Leap and Stomp right now (level 10).

Check your power settings. Make sure windows isn't cranking down the CPU to 5% or so when it thinks you're being idle while plugged in (easiest way is to change the power presets to performance instead of balanced when plugged in). If that doesn't help, go into the BIOS and make sure it's not overruling windows on power management stuff.

Tried the BIOS settings as well, nothing seems to be helping. Guess i'm out of luck... ;_;
