Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

The few times that I had to stop playing Diablo 3 today (to eat, whatever), the game's servers have messed up. *never logs out again*

Oh man are the servers ever fucked. Can't get in at all.

I'm trying to mentally balance "ah, one more night without Diablo won't kill you" with "the most fucked launch of a single player game I've seen in my 30 years of playing videogames" in my head.

Btw game is fucking amazing. I really am in love.

In about a week I think these server issues will subside completely, if not mostly. But I am still pissed!!! Was having the best time just now hah.

Might just go to bed, maybe it's a sign from the gods. The old gods.

Which class and gender do you guys think is the best voice acting? does the fem demon hunter have a hot sultry voice? maybe i will play that. I want to play as a female. I don't like the witch doctor's fem voice so that leaves the Demon Hunter, Wizard, and I dont wana play monk yet so either DH or Wiz.

I find the female DH's voice to be featureless. It's not bad or wooden or anything, just uninteresting. I suppose they were just going with "British" but it doesn't seem to work for me.

so I was in a game for a while and all of a sudden I wasn't able to see what I type and couldn't see other people typing, and kept getting error messages. Now I can't login.

Been refreshing this page for ages and now I see US servers are down as well! YES! Its not just us euros now, I feel a little better. :D Right off to bed.

This shit needs to be in the OP.

There is no offline mode because it opens up the games to hackers. Most everything you do in D3 is handled server side, your characters are stored server side, items, and monsters in your game. If there was an offline mode it would be easy for hackers to learn the code and abuse it in the online world. With everything kept online, the hackers don't really have access to the source for this stuff.

WHO CARES? Its a fuckin co-op game anyway! I mean really who gives a shit if some guy hacked the game and now his Barbarian has 2 lightsabers that instakill bosses? I wouldn't play with that guy anyway. So who cares? It just seems like a weak excuse to justify having a stranglehold on everything in your game that doesn't really need to be watched over so closely.

This part is really strange
My American friend getting like 1000 ping
and im playing from New Zealand and its playable on 280 ping

doesnt make much sense to me

Doesn't make any sense to me either. It does make me want to punch Blizzard in the groin, though. I've been wracking my brain trying to fix the issues i'm having.

I'm so envious of those who are having a smooth experience outside of the Blizzard maintenance checks. :(

Yay, disconnected from my fucking single player game.

Fuck this. The game isn't even any better than Torchlight. This is not worth my time.

Why isn't this true for so many other games, then? Or is it? I don't play enough PC games to know what the state of things is today.

Other games don't have a real money auction house sanctioned by the developer. Protecting their game from being hacked has to be their #1 priority. Much more so than making sure everyone can log in during launch day.

Again.. the real money auction house CARES.

You're talking out your ass.

Two down. One to go

Man what perfect timing. My brother and I had just finished act 1 on nightmare and then decided to call it a day and then the servers end up pooping themselves a few minutes later. Sitting on level 38ish at the moment with ~20 hours played (since 4am EST with a lot of downtime for patches/food/washroom).

Blizzard? The cash auction house means jack shit if people hack.

The game isn't that good. It's not that bad either. It's a good effort but if there's something winning you guys over that I'm missing I don't know what it is. It doesn't add anything really new and different to the genre. It's got some good tech involved with the pseudo-random dungeons but it also has some bad tech with the DRM. The graphics are fairly plain but that's to be expected to reach a really wide audience. I was having a fair bit of fun playing with 3 RL friends on vent chatting and yelling at eachother for being massive bads for running off solo but I don't really see if that would have been any less fun in a game that was PLAINLY worse like Titan Quest....

I don't quite understand why it took so long to develop. Blizzard are a huge studio filled with hundreds of the best and brightest. I just expected something amazing from them (despite my RMAH whining) and I got something that was decent.

I dunno. Maybe dungeon crawlers aren't my thing.

So frustrating, I want to play, as does everyone else, but they keep running into problems. The baffling thing about this whole experience is they should have OVERprepared for how many people were going to buy this game. They knew it was going to be big, hell, everyone knew it, so why are we running into these problems?

Blizzard has yet to have a successful day 1 launch from a technical standpoint...now financial, that's a different story.

Yesterday I came home from work, servers down for maintenance.

I just wake up eager to play, servers down.

Always online expirement failed Blizz.

Just make singleplayer entirely stand-alone from multiplayer and problem solved, amirite?

Lol try playing FIFA Virtual Pro or NBA 2k11 My Player online on XBOX live.

If you store characters client side people will hack them within days.

If the reviewers dont mention the server bullshit I'll come around their gardens and keep the fuckers awake at night with crow impressions

I was expecting the opposite after hearing about all of the lag...
they went easy on us foreigners somehow

Its like walking a mile home when you really need to take a dump. Now you're at the front door fumbling and dropping your keys, clenched like a vice grip, sweating.

Only to find your girlfriend cheating on you with your brother.
