Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

I'm nearing the end of Act II as a demon hunter. Been using Entangling Shot with Shock Collar, Vault with Action Shot, Caltrops with Torturous Ground, and Evasive Fire (which I find generally useless if you're good at kiting).

Please, please, PLEASE Blizzard, fix the goddamn lag bullshit. I've been stuck on act 1 because I can't finish one of the areas without intense lag that has me killed by mobs of monsters.

Jesus. Will I ever be able to load Diablo III, and connect with out any hitches? Once again, I cannot log in (errors 75, 3003, and 37 this time), and it's really starting to cook my nuggets.

Just got disconnected...Oddly enough, it happened maybe 15-20 seconds after I opened my game to the public. Now I can't get back on. :/

Anyone with a similar issue?

I will pay Blizzard $40 extra for Diablo 3 offline patch.

Same. I'm getting lag (punching enemies but nothing is happening) and I've been booted out of my game THREE times now. This online shit is really killing me.

I think I might just wait a few days until all the errors blow over.

Blizzard on twitter says they're aware of more server issues and are working on it

Well gee, how thoughtful of them.

Lag, disconnects, or just plain ol' "sorry, you can't play singleplayer right now!" has been plaguing every effort I've made to play this game today. Thank goodness Max Payne came out today too. This is really not a good case for always-online DRM, and I don't care if it's a "multiplayer game". Nope.

Why didn't they make an offline mode that is purely offline? As in, when you create an offline character, you cant connect to the auction house, play with buddies, etc?

And if you go to online mode, you can transfer that character to offline mode, but not vice versa.

That way, if you are on a trip, you can play another class and level up there, then when you're back home and have internet, continue playing your online class?

This shit needs to be in the OP.

There is no offline mode because it opens up the games to hackers. Most everything you do in D3 is handled server side, your characters are stored server side, items, and monsters in your game. If there was an offline mode it would be easy for hackers to learn the code and abuse it in the online world. With everything kept online, the hackers don't really have access to the source for this stuff.

Out of the first 24 hours of Diablo 3 I've only been able to actually connect to the server and play for 2 hours. And during those 2 hours I had 765 ping even though I was playing alone. This is seriously a fucking nightmare and is turning me off from the game entirely.

Things like online DRM make you glad to be a mostly console only gamer!!! I let it slide for Valve because their servers are godly and you don't really play SP games on the servers, the Steam client is on in the background and it doesn't affect your SP gameplay. Also, on Steam I can use my own bloody account to play a game that my husband bought on his account and installed on our computer! I frickin' hate having to play on his and sharing resources like gold and stash space. :(

5 quick hits...

1) I really like the polish to the game in terms of just well everything like story/world/menus/ui etc... especially after playing PoE over the weekend

2) I REAAAALLLLY enjoy the setting just in general. It fits because I've come to understand I just dig this sort of thing in all different kinds of mediums. The whole sort of Heaven meets Hell Fantasy Gothic Revival sort of thing just sits really well with me (even if it's cheesy :P)

3) It wasn't a big deal for me prerelease and maybe it's just my comp monitor + gamma settings but WOAH I didn't think it would look THIS washed out.

4) Demon Hunter Female model looks decent, but the legs seem odd. Like they are too long for the size of her body

5) Voiced Dialogue is $$$$$$

PS: Expected my 1st play time to be worse than it was in terms of my connection. I only had one random moment of omg lag spike warp. Still sucks though as I'd prefer to do a full play through solo before I play co-op, and offline would work better.

Nope. Never. If it hasn't happened by now, it will literally NEVER happen.

Game is unbelievable, everythig i could hav eever dreamed for.

There is one thing i dont like:

the female baba's voice actor. I'm cool with the Russian accent but her delivery of the lines is SO wooden and bland and boring and just fucking bad and it really popped out at me when playing and voice acting isn't something that usually pops out at me if it's bad, it would have to be just terrible for it to be an issue and so far the fem baba is really bad.

Which class and gender do you guys think is the best voice acting? does the fem demon hunter have a hot sultry voice? maybe i will play that. I want to play as a female. I don't like the witch doctor's fem voice so that leaves the Demon Hunter, Wizard, and I dont wana play monk yet so either DH or Wiz.

This game is fucking fantastic. Though I went to exit and my game locked up, and I cannot log back into battlenet to see if I lost any progress.

Is there a way to see how much time you've put in?

The OP needs to be updated with the following:

Diablo 3 is not a single player game, it is a multiplayer game that you can play solo.

It's a single player game you can play with friends...call it what you want right now it's a game that a lot of people just can't play.

Seriously though there's only 1 excuse for it $$$. I have no problem with that. I don't like it, but I like Diablo more so I'll roll with it. At the same time, everyone who bought the game has a right to bitch and should bitch. In the back of my head I thought this might happen as a worse case scenario...but here we are.

This part is really strange
My American friend getting like 1000 ping
and im playing from New Zealand and its playable on 280 ping

doesnt make much sense to me

I am having so much damn fun with this game. Alt+tabbing and I guess some people got booted off the server? :eek

Back to playing before I get kicked. 5 hours straight. :3

Much of the code is executed server-side rather than client-side which prevents them from giving a single player experience. They do this primarily to make it *much* harder to cheat in their game. Dupes, in particular, would destroy the integrity of their auction system which is a huge concern considering the real money auction house. Hacking in general largely tarnished Diablo 2's online system... there are infinite examples: dupes, map hacks, bots, etc.

The fallout is that for the more secure experience you can't play the game offline.

After playing with no issues for 4 hours and taking a break, i'm trying to log back and am welcomed with errors.

Yay.

Question, sorry if this has been answered already.

Is there cross region/server play? I'm currently in Asia, can I play with my buddies in USA?

Also, I'm gonna be back to USA for a couple weeks in June. Will I be able to play my character on the Asia server when I'm in the States? I have the global version of the game BTW.

Appreciate the help!

You can choose servers (at least the version I got from battle.net can) at will. But none of your progress transfer between the servers. You start completely empty (including characters, achievements, and profile data) when you switch servers.

And no, no cross region play. No RMAH in Asia servers either. :(

The game itself is amazing. Truly.

Just have to wait for minor issues to be fixed.

And I agree, my zombie dogs do feel weak. I keep trying to play around with different skills, have not found the combo I feel like I want to stick with yet.

Bedtime though, gotta get some rest for work.

Just, JUST beat teh 2nd boss...

As soon as I string along a few levels.. the servers go down.

Really fucking annoying Blizz....

Yeah I was playing with a friend when all of a sudden during
spider queen battle
i started to get error codes, then i thought I could leave that game and rejoin when I was at the menu I got another error code logging me out.

Now its either error 3003 or 37

I'm not mad, just annoyed. I know there is a HUGE load on the servers right now, but this should have been anticipated.

Come on blizz, take some of the dying WoW servers and turn em into D3 servers!

Why isn't this true for so many other games, then? Or is it? I don't play enough PC games to know what the state of things is today.

I am having so much damn fun with this game. Alt+tabbing and I guess some people got booted off the server? :eek

Back to playing before I get kicked. 5 hours straight. :3

Five hours straight, never getting booted? I got booted five times in 10 minutes!

Villain!! (enjoy the game man!, lol)

I'm having some trouble deciding how to use my bard. I like the big 2h weapons but they are so damn slow it kinda sucks. Then unloading all that fury is sometimes hard to do so efficiently... any tips for a barb? lvl 17

We had this problem in the beta builds and it seems to have carried over to the retail build. For some reason, the music in Diablo 3 is extremely low compared to all other sound effects. Even when
setting music at 100, and voices / sound effects at around 30-40, the sound effects are explosive and voices booming, yet the music plays at a whisper quiet volume. I dont think this is just a problem with surround sound speaker set ups since i've tested it on a 2 speaker set up, and you can still barely hear the music in the game.

The Diablo series has always had amazing soundtracks to go along with their games, so it just strikes me as strange that the third entry has what sounds like a great soundtrack, yet you can barely hear it, no matter the volume settings.

Heh the title screen music is still blaringly loud though...guess they really didnt change that much between the last build and retail...either that or they dont know about it/its not a big or widespread issue.
