Just think of the faces as Mario stomped on something and how realistic it be to see the hope and dreams go from they eyes!

I'm really, really interested to see what they do with Mario running on this kind of hardware. Galaxy is a great example of game design playing to the system's processing weaknesses in order achieve amazing graphics. When I think Mario on Wii U hardware, I don't really think 'more detail', but instead 'bigger scale'.

Wait, is my square being checked if Paper Mario is there, or isn't there?
it's Mario Paper

I disagree with this. I'm not crazy about the series, but there's a pretty great variety of assets throughout all three games and not a shameless overuse of assets. That's a bonus of making tightly controlled, compartmentalised games like Uncharted though. You can tailor a massive variety of assets across the experience, as you don't need to worry too much about overly large interactive environments or complex gameplay bogging down dev time and resources. It's like...building a movie.
sorry, I was very incoherent.
I meant, not that UC is necessarily recycling now, but that if it were expanded into a bigger game it could do so; something which will not be feasible for Zelda.

Not sure how bigger scale would play out, though. I'm already quite stunned at how big the architectural structures of Galaxy are, like how much _level_ there is for each relatively short mission, sometimes only used for one star. The scale is huge already. There's the possibility of open world, of course, but I personally don't want to see it.

Setting Galaxy in space was a smart move. It let Nintendo free up a lot of system resources to focus on single platforms, circular objects, etc set against a plain backdrop.

I figure a new Mario would have more 'dense' imagery on the screen, more stuff going on, but I don't really know. Maybe the focus will be on physics.

I'd be very happy with that. I have a few complaints about Galaxy's visuals, but you can't deny, overall it does look great. I'm just interested in what kind of gameplay we'll get with Mario WiiU, and bigger scale definitely discribes the direction I'm rooting for.

Yes, I'm not a fan of stretching content out, and Galaxy did a good job of this. I'd rather the level be denser, each section directly built into other sections surrounding it. With this new power it would be possible to keep the longer levels, with a larger amount of content along the way.

I just realized Pikmin 3 might have online with a multiplayer campaign.

my mom is a huge pikmin fan, and it would be fun to play this game online together!

yeah I be happy with Mario Galaxy 3 with more freedom to do what they want, with some U Pad idea

I may replay Galaxy 1 for run up to E3

I'd rather they move away from the Galaxy theme, but if it's designed with freedom in mind, I guess I'd be down.

Monolith Software Confirmed as Project X Zone's Developer

I think we may not see anything from them for WiiU now...

Eh, it's just a 3DS fighting game. I don't think it will completely tie them up.

Whatever they do, I'm betting that they use the controller in some really revolutionary ways. I haven't got the slightest clue what they'd do, but I'm excited.

Also, someone here has mentioned a seamless overworld idea. I think that would be great. Imagine a Mario where you're just put in a world and just have to find stars. Finding X amount of stars could open a gate to a different section of the world or something. I'd buy that tomorrow.

Yes, I agree. It's a natural progression of the Mario 64 design.

Monolith only has one team? Is it possible they have two teams working in tandem on different projects releasing every other year?

They have at least two teams, a second one working on the Wii U. They might have three, I don't recall. All I know is Monolithsoft is quite large, and expanded not all that long ago.

Pretty sure they had two big teams, and then one smaller team, but with the new studio they probably have three big teams now...

I'm afraid of bigger scale in Mario cause that has so far tended to be used to spread out levels for exploration and dilute the platforming a bit. I liked 3D Land a lot just cause they just pared it down to platforming. I don't necessarily mind exploration but there's a delicate balance of spreading things out without making it too boring or too busy. Like the open world idea mentioned could be really cool or really really bad depending on how it's handled.

I just want the next 3D game to be called Super Mario World 3...just for the touch of nostalgia along with continuity and newness.

How about "everything moves" with lots and lots of super quality animation?

Some more details would be nice though (like this from Brawl, but even better still).

I'm really hoping we hear of a WiiU Metroid. If it shows up I'm also hoping it embraces the horror elements of the series. A survival horror Metroid would be awesome.

Three teams now that they have established the Kyoto studio. So basically their status would be:

Tokyo- WiiU Game
Kyoto- 3DS game
Endless Frontier/OG Saga people- Project X Zone.

I don't know. Mario didn't exactly make revolutionary use of the Wii pointer or the DS's bottom screen.
Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I think that would be great. In some ways it might play like more of an adventure game, where you can set out on long journeys from area to area. Giving a constant platforming focus to a game on that scale would result in something really fresh.

Sorry to go back to the single touch vs multi touch debate, but having recently got myself a touch screen phone (HTC one X) after having a Blackberry for years, I've yet to come across a situation where multi touch is hugely beneficial.

None of the games or apps I've downloaded thus far have used it.
The browser is the only place that it may be useful (pinch to zoom) but a hold / tap to zoom would work pretty much just well I'd imagine.

Tilting/rotating maps in Google Maps with two fingers.

with xenoblade as reference, I don't see how Monolith could be anything but huge.

Absolutely can't wait to see what they're doing for the Wii U. Xenoblade was my goty 2011 and favourite game of this entire gen.

I agree. I think the stylus will differentiate the Wii-U from the iPad, there are advantages and disadvantages of having a resistive touchscreen instead of capacitive. I've never seen a good stylus for a capacitive touchscreen, the tip is always massive.

They'll make another game that won't come out in America.

Thankfully, I live in England.

Doesn't matter to me if it doesn't come out in the US - after how well received Xenoblade was over here, I'm certain NOE won't let us down like NOA does to their customers.

I'm pretty sure that this time last year, we had the time and date for Nintendo's press conference. Do we have this year's, and if not, what gives?

Interesting to know is that they also work as developer for
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (development cooperation) (2008, Wii)[6]
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (development cooperation) (2011, Wii)
Dunno about SSBB, but the guys working on Skyward Sword were mostly from the Disaster team, which is pretty much a fourth team - complete with its own designers, planners, directors and producers.
