Are you supposed to use your class specific weapons? I finally found some magic knuckles, but they're not as good as what I'm already using? Is there some kind of monk bonus for using knuckles?

Also, if you're playing co-op with a friend, and then play by yourself later, can you still join up with each other, despite being at different points?

To the best of my knowledge fist and Monk Staff are the only weapon type that have Spirit regen buff. You will probably run into stuff with higher dps, but if you find yourself Spirit starved you want to try and take that hit for the regen.

Are you sure about that? In D2 there was an attack speed bonus for using the class-specific weapons, afaik. If there isn't in D3 there really should be.

Well, Monks get the 15% speed as long as they have the Passive on. Not really checked the other classes to see if they have something similar. I know DH's do for ranged stuff.

In D2, a Sorc would use an orb or a wand. In D3, you can use a 2h mace since the DPS is what drives your damage.

So.... ya.

So does Int and I am guessing Blizzard basically made it that the right class weapon has way more of the stats your class needs. Much like WoW did.

Class-specific weapons don't do anything special other than have class-specific buffs towards that class. Don't worry about what weapon you're using unless you're trying to roleplay something...look at the stats of the weapon, not the type.

Blegh, I find myself carrying a lot of the people I play with - random parties that is.

Most people are new to the game I'm certain. Even a lot of gaffers, so don't expect to be playing with veterans left and right.
anyone happen to know what the CE Sigil looks like?

It looks like the D3 logo with the 3 lines. Behind it is a slightly different shape but it's pretty much the same as the launch icon without the capital D.

I don't remember there being an inherent bonus; I think some of the class specific weapons had inherently faster AS but that was more a property of the item type. I'd have to look into it, I guess.

As far as D3 is concerned, class unique equipment just has inherent (e.g., not part of the random affixes) bonuses for the class. At least, I think they're not part of the random affixes. Haven't gotten to play that much yet ... :(

So do we have any word yet on grouping, XP gain, and how that is affected by gaps in level? I haven't found any official or even semi-official word, and forum responses are all over the place.

Oh my god... I feel like I've blown several huge loads over the past 4-5 hours, however long it's been. It's unbelievable. It just keeps getting better and better.

Act 1 area spoiler here:
The
halls of agony levels
were SO gross and disgusting and I LOVED it! It was more gross than anything in Diablo 2. All the people with the "WoW art style" stuff got pwned. There are ppl still saying that, ones who have only played the beta and didn't buy the game. But yeah that was so good and the boss after was epic, oh man.

The Act 2 city is so gorgeous, holy crap I'm blowing loads left and right.

Back to playing my Monk today. I am tempted to try out a Witch Doctor a little later. I think they look so cool and from the videos I have seen they seem pretty fun to play too.

Oh and ending cinematic for act 1 was so fucking awesome, my mouth was open and i had chills although that might be because it's an igloo in my room due to the A/C on full blast but it might have been the cinematic too lol

Talking about D2 character building: the problem is 90% of the fun of D2 was when you planned out your character before you played the game. The actual GAME experience of hoarding points for 30 levels then spamming your 2 core abilities for 99% of the game got pretty boring fast. Which is why so many people just blasted through with cow level runs and then botted.

I leveled 6 sorcs to like 85+ in D2 without any botting. The fun part was always the pre-game phase where I said "I'm going to build a charged bolt/hydra sorc!". Not the actual game of "yay, spam charged bolt for 85 levels straight =/"

The other really fun thing of D2 was trading, I don't yet know how much I will enjoy that in this game.

Wait till Act 3 kicks in.

Just started act 2 and logged off, can't wait to see what horrors await! I've taken my time and explored every nook & cranny and always cleared the fog of war in every area (this has led to several dungeons i would have missed and also huge XP from some journals, i love how they made exploring worthwhile).

I have no interest in spoiling anything for anyone. I will simply say:

Connections back to the first game, they make me tingle with joy!

Act 3 was the highlight for me so-far. A nice change for combat and a different setting. I have never laughed my ass of playing a game as much as D3.

No, I'm pretty sure a bow in the hands of an amazon had a faster AS than in the hands of another class. Basically each type of weapon had a base attack speed per class.

Having trouble finding direct references to this (diablo sites are all switching over to d3 info :/), but I'm pretty sure it's true.

Is there a reason why I see a bit of chop in the visuals? All high, v-sync off. i7 CPU + overclocked 6950 2GB + latest drivers.

Does it have something to do with internet/lag? Because I can't believe that the game is pushing my GPU. Not with these visuals.

If vsync is off it's probably screen tearing.

So if I understand this correctly, I SHOULD equip an axe or something similarly ridiculous for a Wizard to hold, just for the stats? And never use it in battle?

I kinda wish the AH was like WoW in a way. Maybe let players portal to a PSO style hub where you can meet up with other players and AH your stuff. Just clicking in the menu feels a little soulless.

Well, you use spells that are based upon weapon DPS and your Int, so go with what gives you the best. Also speed of the weapon dictates the speed of attacks also.

Oh, that! Yeah, weapon speed was variable between classes. I actually don't know if that's in Diablo III then. I'm going with "no" but I don't have any data on-hand to support it.

Yup; all skills, even spells, are Weapon Damage based. I actually want to say that the first or second tooltip you see in game actually mentions this.

You would be correct. Assassin claws are the most obvious example. Very fast for assassins, and very slow for any other class.

You only got those credits if you were on a shitty server.

But anyway...

A lot of people were on servers like that. It wasn't like SWTOR where there were like 2 servers that were really bad for a couple weeks. There were probably 20 or 30 servers that were horrible for months. I remember playing on Skullcrusher when BWL came out (which was in July of 2005) and getting 30+ seconds of latency on instant skills trying to do Razorgore every single night because so many guilds were running it. That was 8 months after the game came out. We didn't get time credited for that, but it was completely gamebreaking all the same.

The cinematic after Act I was nice, hopefully the others are as cool.

Am i correct in assuming that there is only cinematics like that after an Act is finished? So only 3 more? :(

I'm merely responding that it is unlikely that there is a hidden attack speed bonus, similar to claws in D2 because everything is so completely askew from D2.
