Halo 4 Limited Edition announced.

In-game content for special editions is such shit. Congrats, 343, you just got yourself a bargain bin waiting/used game customer.

That case looks pretty sweet, I must admit.
Then again, the vanilla cover is pretty decent as well - so that's my choice to go with as I don't care that much about the digital freebies.

Really?

So they give their customers some exclusive skins for their guns and spartans and it's the biggest mistake ever. .or are you complaining about the DLC that is included in the price?

Did you say the same for Bungie when their special editions included a flaming helmet and other useless shit? or does Bungie get a free pass because they made one good Halo and lived off the success of it?

I imagine most peoples thoughts

This is the last and will be the greatest Halo game ever... I must get that.

My old 360 is collecting dust so I might consider playing this game, but I skipped ODST and Reach ever since I decided to duck out of xbox world for other platforms.

Has this been confirmed to actually be limited or will they be producing copies months later?

If that's all it took, something tells me you weren't going to get this new on day one in the first place.

So when you buy the special edition you get early access to those perks? That sucks. I don't give a damn about special editions, but I'm still paying for the game...

Not really impressed with the included extras, especially considering I've been less than impressed with the direction they've seemingly taken the multiplayer. I'll hold off for now.

Extra 9 maps alone is worth the purchase. How many maps in all tho?
343 hasn't divulged that yet. I'm optimistic though. It really feels like 343 is going all out on the MP. Going for at least a piece of that CoD crown.

Liking the CE and will definitely pre order.

Only sad news about this is the fact that DLC will still be stuck with 3 maps per pack.

5 maps per pack, please.

Its not as bad if the game launches with lets say 10-12 maps on the disk, plus those 9. That`s already a lot! A lot more "at launch" then any other game i can remember.

I take it these maps will be only for competitive MP and not Spartan Ops, correct?
The PR specifically states "War Games" maps, which is the new name of the competitive multiplayer. So yes. Spartan Ops DLC will probably be sold separate from War Games, depending on how successful it is.

Yeah but those 9 aren't available at launch. The last map pack could be released a year later... or longer.

Yeah, probably. The first "season" of Spartan Ops (stupid name) is being released on a weekly basis for an undetermined time after launch. They've already said they could do a second season if the first is well received, which I'm assuming would also be comprised of weekly episodes.

Yeah, it's just like the season pass.

It's quite a good idea for the community though, even some really keen players don't fork out for new maps and that makes it hard to get games on certain maps.
People tend to go a little crazier at launch so hopefully more people will have them as a result of this.

I haven't been particularly excited for a Halo recently, but I still normally pick them up on day or week 1. Now I'm turned off, and even if I weren't, it's the principle of the matter. I'm really against exclusive in-game content. Physical content in special editions? Great. But anything in the game, no matter how menial, just puts a bad taste in my mouth and makes me think of the hundreds of others games out there I can play while I wait for this one to go cheap.

For Halo 'fans' (e.g. people who are still playing Reach and own the DLC for it), this seems like a no-brainer if you're on board with Halo 4. It's basically the same as buying the game + DLC at each release, and then you get some in-game swag and a Halo movie as well. That's not bad.

Any idea how long before Amazon puts it up for pre-order?

Skipped ODST? Missed the best game in the series.

lol no.

It's competently put together but needed more time / a larger team to fulfill its potential. The hub is atmospheric, but ultimately lifeless and not very fun.

Overall it's definitely a fun package, that I'd recommend picking up. Doesn't top Halo 1 though (or Halo 3 if we're talking purely about gameplay)

It's meant to be boring and tedious? You know what I meant.

But it's not boring and tedious.

Just finished the game the other day again. Total stealth approach to the hub areas. Spent hours and hours just looking around trying to notice every detail.

It's great.

Haven't read the entire thread yet, but does it still have the cover art of the standard edition somewhere? Maybe inside? It's just so good..., I don't want to miss out on that.

The LE is slick as hell though. Pretty much bought.

They talked about Spartan Ops being episodic and releasing new 'episodes' about once a week for a few months with new missions and story. This is free for all who get Halo 4.

OK thanks guys.

It is a nice LE, but I do wish it had some 'making of' or commentary styled offerings. Also, I am a bit sad it has nothing physical with it. Halsey's journal with the Halo Reach stuff was freaking awesome, and I was kinda hoping for a MC statue. Ah well, at least they will be selling an artbook.

That said, the regular boxart is fantastic..I hope they consider throwing that art into the LE in one way or another, maybe as a poster.

I wonder what the pre-order bonuses will be..

I hope you read the content:
UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet

The UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet includes a Spartan armor customization schematic, information about UNSC weapons, an introduction to the massive ship UNSC Infinity, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity’s finest warriors: The Spartan-IVs. Story lovers will especially enjoy this in-fiction offering that provides a glimpse into the indoctrination of Spartans aboard the Infinity.

I have the Legendary Editions of 3 and Reach. On the fence for this one. I'll be a freshmen in college by then, and likely won't have the money. Still kind of tempting.

This will be the first limited edition of any game I will buy since the Halo 3 cat helmet. Looks great.

Im glad there's no statues anymore, i had both the helmet and the Reach statue and i just don't know where to put that shit anymore. Its nice at first but id rather have some content and no statue. Takes too much room.

Steelbook? YES PLEASE.
