Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

Realyn you've got some brass balls going with an HC character when the servers are still so shaky. I'd feel some Barbarian-levels of fury if I died in HC - especially with a high-level char - to lag or a server DC.

I'd like to chime in for those considering to play this on a macbook (though I expect there a more detailed specs/reviews out there). The game runs at 25-30 fps at the lowest settings in full screen mode. Smooth enough to play, doesn't hurt the eyes too much.

Specs:

Late 2010 Macbook pro
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Mhz
4 Gb
NVIDIA GeForce 320M (256 Mb VRAM)

Beginner's tip: don't right-click on an item to equip it when you're at a merchant :(

Is the highest setting you can run it at? I'm sitting on the fence, and I can't decide if I want to pull the trigger. Sometimes things run a little wonky on Macs.

Granted I'm running on an i5 and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M; so I'd have to imagine it would run smoother?

I just cant bring myself to use the retaliation aura, I mean I dont want to get hit! Hoping it gets to a point that you can push dex up high enough to have a massive amount of dodge.

Monks representin! Nice to see our Ivgorod kin in so many numbers!

How can I get shadows that smooth like in the streams? I have them on High, but its nowhere like that.

Level 16 Monk.

Am I doing it right?

Monk scales with dex so since you have more str than dex something may be going wrong. On the other hand, at level 16 ( which my monk is at too ) you don't have that much choice in gear.

Hmmmm, joining general chat just allowed me to play my longest uninterrupted session yet......no random remove from game error! On act 2 now..........that cinematic was pretty awesome

I'm only level eight. It feels like I really underpowered against him.
Just get out of his way when he queues up the main attack. I used Rend to clear out the adds he summons, and when they're gone just Bash the hell out of him (and whatever other high damage ability you have when fury allows it). The stun chance on Bash can be godly.

I'm not seeing nearly enough Witch Doctor builds here.

Heathens, all of you. I'm gonna go make some monk voodoo dolls.

My current build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#eSYdZT!Zd!aaaaZa

Based around damage-over-time spells (stacking runed Grasp + Locust + Haunt wrecks crowds) with four buffed zombie dogs and the Gargantuan to tank. Been working out well so far. Locust Swarm spreads everywhere with one or two casts and I just spam Haunt on everything for added damage and health leech.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it. That fixed everything. No more being booted at all. I played for like two hours straight. Amazing.

I feel like this should be in the OP. Hit Enter on the main menu, join general chat and never be booted again!

Anybody on Act 2 NM or 37+ in NM want to play? If I can't use public search then I guess I have to friend potential partners.

I have a mic and can mumble if you'd like.

How do I get to change the skills of my followers? I don't have a instruction manual since I picked up the digital version and can't seem to find any information via google how to do it.

how does elemental damage on weapons translate to wizard spells? and If i want to approximately calculate a spells damage, how would I do that?

Yeah, I'll have to try to find some equipment that raises my dexterity. Might hit the auction house.

Looks awesome. You solo'in? Been using any followers if so or are you managing it pretty nicely?

The fun thing about Witch Doctor when solo'ing is the pets and various attacks against packs make for great distractions. Quite effective to keep swarms off your ass. Did you replace Dire Bats with Haunt?

I know they're not exactly similar, but how do you reckon a game like Dawn of War compares to Diablo? Having recently put 40 hours in going through the Dawn of War II campaign, I have to say it compares very favourably. Like, at least as good.

Has the Templar bug been fixed? I don't want to give him any item and get my account locked.

They have nothing in common. Both superb games.

Half of work is behind me.
All I am thinking of is my monk. Builds are prepared.

Increasing all settings a notch (low->medium, off->low/medium) and enabling anti-aliasing makes the game drop to 20 fps or so. I rather have the lower settings and a smoother experience than the drops in fps. Keep in mind that I've only played Act 1 so far and only encountered mobs of 10-15 enemies max.

I'd say go for it (just realized you had far better specs!), otherwise head over to the guest pass begging thread and try it for a few hours. I haven't got one to spare, unfortunately.

Woo, finished the game on normal!

And there really aren't a lot of public games, I was expecting a lot more. Maybe it's because a lot of people want to go solo on their first playthrough.

Yeah, been soloing for the most part. I use the Enchantress with her power armor buff.

If I'm using Dire Bats I swap out Haunt for Poison Darts - Spined (for mana regen) and Locust Swarm for Dire Bats. I also abandon zombie dogs because they die so fast, and the cooldown is too long, without the appropriate skill buffs.

Mana is still a huge problem for me. I go with the build above if I'm in a party, because stuff like Haunt just has no time to tick in a group as things die so fast.

I reckon as single-player experiences ,at least, they have quite a lot in common, especially once Dawn of War abandoned base-building for straight out exploration and combat. You're clicking your way through top-down maps, leveling up and gaining increasingly impressive gear as you progress.

I'd certainly recommend Dawn of War II and the expansions for fans of this game, if they haven't played them before. Kind of a like a team-based sci-fi version of Diablo.

Really interested to see how WD will cope on Nightmare and above, especially solo. Have you tried using the zombie dogs with Sacrifice and see if that's any effective, since they die so quickly anyway? Guess it's probably not that worth it due to the cooldown.

And yeah, I'm still way earlier than you but I can already see how mana might become an issue. As soon as you get Dire Bats that starts to become noticeable.

probably, i turned on advanced tooltips after i installed yesterday so I'm not sure what information is given without it.

I turned it on right away. Better for selecting skills and seeing what they REALLY do.
Hover on skill without it and then with it on the skill bar. You will notice the difference.

Just finished the game with a level 32 Witch Doctor. Here is Loraj in all his glory!

Look at that Intelligence rating. I died once at the 3rd boss because I had no idea what his attacks were doing at one point, but it was smooth sailing otherwise.

I used Poison Darts with the Splinter rune for the final boss, but rolled with Firebomb otherwise. I had a multikill of 48 at one point. Really fun class to play.

So on my Demon Hunter I think I learned how to cheese the game.

Double Chakram + Bat Familiar is insane fucking dps. Hatred Regen is so quick that I can spam it for a long time without having to even use my left click. I also set my 1 to be the gain 30% health of the damage you do for self sustain, 3 to be the sentry turret and 4 to be arrow volley. Templar follower tanks everything and I just mow AOE mow down everything in the way.

Double Chakram is so overpowered. Good times when you have someone to tank stuff for you. Its so much fun.

Would you add me? Seph#2363

Does the Barb need Dex/Int at all?

Will add you, but don't forget to check GAF List on first page - you can trace users there.

So I just finished the game on normal. I was pretty hyped for it (I made the OT!) and aside from some relatively minor niggles (which every game has), I think I can safely Diablo III is one of my favorite games ever. Definitely Top 5.

I know I'll be playing this many years down the road, and I'm excited for PvP and expansions when they come.

Took me 20 hours, 24 minutes to complete on my Demon Hunter, exploring the every nook and cranny of most maps.

I can't edit that file to add my battletag...who do I need to ask to do it?
