What is the point of the real money Auction House?

Guessing: the flood of goods will make the goods cheap, meaning no one will ever want to buy something for real money.

Corollary: or, nothing will sell for real money except legendaries only, meaning gold will become worthless for getting legendaries and the other items won't sell for real money, splitting the value of items dramatically.

Also, what is with the lack of ability to cancel your own auctions (after 5 mins)?

Also: what is with the 46 max pages? Depending on your sort choice, you get different item listings. You can look for level 9 belts and there are more than 46 pages. This means there are so many items that if you post something, people may not see it if it is low enough. Yes, LOW enough.

AH is horrible.

The point right now seems to be:

1- Spend your hard earned money on an item.

2- Play for a bit and be happy with your investment.

3- Log in the next day and discover a rollback has happened and your item is now gone.

I would NOT invest one cent in this game right now with all that crap happening.

I agree with spoiler tagging it; no real harm done to me, though, since it is on the game box.

edit: - two E beginning names != same name!

Some attacks in the games just can't be dodged and are one-shot kills.

You can avoid something other ways than by just dodging (actually getting "dodge" when the attack hits) unless you mean just a general sense :o

... I'm agreeing with you.

rofl I saw two people with E beginning names and thought you were the same person xD. Whoops!

can you not kick people in your party? I hosted a game and some people joined. one guy was being a jack ass and the "vote kick" feature was greyed out...

Um, okay.

You realize if you look in the achievements every single boss is listed in there, right? And that it's just the name that is spoiled, nothing else?

But, I did it.

Don't look in achievements or you'll see a lot more spoilers than that!

The names don't show up until you kill that boss, I thought.

Something's broken then, because I am only just barely in Act II and when I go to achievements for the other acts "Killed ______" is listed there. Someone who is not as far as you can confirm this.

Surely they can be stored with encryption? Or stored in a way that the data can only be encrypted when it is synced to Blizzards side?

Steam works something like this with pre-orders does it not?

There are possibilities.

You never know, but I tend to give people a lot of credit and the benefit of the doubt when breaking these certain things. I'm always surprised by what people manage to break.

Anyone else feel like using the D2 tactic of pumping vit still seems to be better than other options in this game?

Granted I'm playing a hardcore character and need a little insurance, but I can literally just walk into a boss fight (just beat the normal act 2 boss last night) and hold left-click to win. I'm sure it gets harder in nightmare and beyond, but it still seems like a better option than pumping my primary stat.

Are you playing with followers? Are you melee?

You will die to Vampiric champs in later difficulties if you don't have the damage output to beat their lifesteal.

Just beat normal with this guy:

Vitality is always important for every character but if you don't balance it against your primary stat your damage will suffer which makes everything slow down.

It's a pretty simple trade off early on, more defense or "insurance" but less killing speed. Later on, as you come up against Vampiric Champions, and eventually bosses with enrage timers (so if you don't kill them fast enough they start 2-shotting you) it's going to be a real problem. Obviously though you'll have different gear and you're not literally "putting points into vitality" so you can start off Vitality heavy and slowly balance it out over the course of the game.

On my Witch Doctor I try to keep it around 65/35 for Int/Vit ratio.

About drop rates, aren't they supposed to work better with the Nephalem buff at lv 60? Maybe it's intended to work that way.

At the rate I'm going it'll take me under a week (probably just a day or two, most likely by saturday) to hit 60. I hope there's some decent farm to be had "end game."

So do people agree then, that the real money AH is probably going to be stupid or just plain not work out? Talking about selling and not buying, anyone can buy crap.

What's fucked up is achievements are tied to your banner, so if I go to mess with my banner, then my old options are sometimes missing due to it being tied to an achievo.

I really hope they get it fixed soon and(wishful thinking here) find a way to give me the ones I earned that are missing.
That's really the biggest issue about some of the missing ones, is that a few can't be earned again (blacksmith.)

The only thing I did notice is that some of my bestiary lore that had disappeared (in the achievement log) have reappeared in the listing, but the books I read (Ex: Leah/Cain books) still haven't popped up again.

Been wondering the same. Keep having our friends drop in our games and drop loot off for us when we want to experience it on our own without getting carried in anyway. Haven't been able to kick anyone.

Don't see why it would be stupid. I had no problem selling d2 items, if anything this just makes it easier.

People expecting to make a killing are just delusional though, there will be a market for perf items, but you aren't just going to be able to put any item up there.

Do you guys break down the blues/yellow items you find or do you just sell them? I've been salvaging everything but I dont have too much $

Oh god can you remove gems from weapons? I was dragging a gem across my inventory to my stash and let go on top of my bow putting the gem in it :(

Is there no longer a naming convention to demonstrate what difficulty you've beaten the game on? I always enjoyed getting the prefix for my character after taking down Diablo.

EU servers are terrible right now

I'm confused. Must people seem to be complaining about act 1 achievements, meaning stuff they got on the first day playing the game.

But some people here and there are complaining losing about newer stuff, so I take the problem is still happening, but on a smaller scale?

If that's the case, it might be in fact that the achievement server is really busy and not able to record everything when it gets hammered.

I've been selling any magic blue worth 150G or more and salavaging the rest. I haven't salvaged or sold any rare yellow, I just can't bring myself to part with them. I've even made a mule so I can pack rat a bunch of yellow.

I got to a point where the blacksmither's items were +5 levels too high for me and started selling my loot. I'll drop back to salvaging when I'm able to wear the stuff I craft.

I believe the jeweler can. In the future you can just right click gems in your inventory with your stash open and they get transferred over so you won't have this problem. :)

It's better to salvage the socketed weapon. The gem wil reappear in your inventory without any cost, but you lose the weapon obviously. Then again, you probably want to resocked that gem anyway so it's no biggy.
