Got to Act 2 after a solid 5 hours playing session with a buddy. Absolutly love the game, and hate that I am at work right now. How long are the other acts in comparison to the first?

Real stupid question: When someone posts an image in a "quote" box it is really tiny and I can't see it. Anyway for me to change my settings and fix this?

I like the challenge of having to work with the items that I find randomly. As of now I only care about making money, and will save up for all that super rare inferno loot when the day finally comes.

I just used it primarily to snag a couple of items that upped my Magic Find, to have better luck with regular lootage.

I wish there was some kind of guild system, or private chat channels.

There are times when I have 13+ friends online, and I'm restricted to who is in my game, and private messages to each. It would be awesome if we could all chat in once central location while in game.

Magic find is god in Diablo. Always recommended to up it over armor and such as long as you feel confident in your ability to survive.

This might sound dumb, but this attack is easy enough to avoid. Just leave the green circle haha. Barbs could leap out. On my monk, I target an enemy outside the circle and teleport out.

I tried that but when there is three or four it felt like I wa sleaping from one puddle to the next! maybe I was just rushing about though.

I'm kinda preferring the +gold items so far. Since magic items sell for so cheap, and gold is used for so much, I feel more worried about my money than my supply of salvaged items from blues.

EDIT: Of course, that will probably change when I get to higher difficulties.

Stuck at the install since yesterday. This is everything I loathe about online-only games. Can't friggin' install it, and with the servers problems I'm actually shocked people are giving Blizzard a free pass just because it's Diablo III. Double standards FTL

Since yesterday? Are you doing a disk install or? Sounds like a lot more than something on their end. Did you ever cancel and retry the installation?

At the rate I'm going it'll take me under a week (probably just a day or two, most likely by saturday) to hit 60. I hope there's some decent farm to be had "end game."
It must also be noted that the amount of MF obtainable in DIII is much much lower than the one obtainable in DII (as a plain % stat). Whoever played DII will remember a lot of items spanning in the 100-120 MF, not to mention gems and socketable jewels.

Now we have at most 15-16% MF on an item (maybe 20 for some jewels?). A lot of them aren't optimal for every class (useless stats, for example STR, on WIZ etc...).

On my SORC in DII I had something like 1200% MF + the one on my follower (300-400% more).

On a full MF character in DIII I think we may see at most 250-300% MF, plus 40-50% on the follower. That's A LOT less.

We can make some assumptions at this point. Maybe the way MF is applied in DIII is different (maybe there's a multiplier?) so that value corresponds roughly to the value in DII.

Maybe the way it is counted is different, because in DII the follower's MF was actually summed to your MF only if HE got the killing blow, otherwise only yours was counted. Some people are stating that in DIII it doesn't work this way, instead the MF of all the people (or of the follower) is summed to any mob/boss killed, regardless of who gets the killing blow. After the death every different player gets his/her loot. This would mean an effort from Blizzard to make people play MP rather than in SP for better loot (not only MORE drops).

Maybe it's just intended to work with the Nephalem buff. So once you hit 60 and kill an elite the buff kicks in and the eventual boss kill will give you much better loot.

It's still too early to determine which one of these assumptions is right... maybe none of them is, maybe it's a combination of some of them, or maybe Blizzard just f***ed up the drop rates this time around :D

Holy fuck.

Rip #3 at the Boss act2, DC ... I would have beaten act II in 2 hours 30 minutes lol. Anyway, still got gems for a another run.

I was stuck at install aswell. Make sure you uncheck the (Automatically Detect Connection Settings) in your Internet Explorer browser. The downloader uses your IE settings and for some reason this fixed my instal problems.

For demon hunter, equip one bow or dual wield?

It just depends on the weapon. Equip both and check to see how it affects your DPS in your character inventory screen.

Also, one bow will typically do more damage per hit, so it makes abilities hit harder. This is more beneficial with abilities with cooldowns.

How in the world are you guys mowing through the game so quickly? Maybe I'm distracted easily or something, but Act 2 has taken me almost 7 hours so far and I am only about 2/3 done with it. Act 1 easily took 8 hours also.

You should be able to install because that was never the issue because the issue was once you were ingame it was either servers not up, lag and connection issues to the server.

What's happening when you try to install?

That boss is such a bitch :lol

Act 3 boss is so much easier. And I'd say Act 4 gets harder with more people. Solo it'd probably be a walkover.

I'm not familiar with Barb abilities, but do you have an AoE knock back attack? It might interrupt the attack. Maybe a stun attack would work too. I haven't experimented with that monsters attack much. Like I said, on my monk I just tele'd out, or brute forced it and spammed my self heals.

This is not entirely true. Generally speaking 2H Bows have the minimum damage a lot low.
So they may hit harder on average, but since the dmg number is randomly picked in the min-max range you could have an unlucky streak to a mob, resulting in a fight much longer.
1H crossbows have the great advantage of having the base gap between min and max dmg a lot lower, so their dmg output is much more regular compared to a 2H bow.
Just my 2 cents :)

Ah cheers, I have not met him/her yet. Wish I used my gems earlier now :)

It was not so much the gem I wanted back but not to be stuck with a crap gem in my bow!

Currently at 150DPS at level 21, not sure if that is good or bad.

You can remove any gem from any weapon at the gem merchant and still have both. You do not need to salvage it, and you can upgrade the gem in your bow then.

He's doing multiple Hardcore runs. Since his gear keeps improving with each run, and since he knows where to go and avoids exploring, he can move through pretty quickly.

When do recipes start dropping?

I got my first one in Act IV Nightmare.

I just reached Nightmare yesterday, after playing about half-way through Act 1 I decided to jump into a public game to do the last quest in Act IV Normal again before I out-leveled it
killing Diablo
. While running through the final dungeon I got my first recipe... some sort of healing staff (I haven't really looked at it yet).

I'm not sure if it's normally available in Normal mode or if I just got it because I had already advanced to Nightmare, even though I was playing in a Normal game.

Act 4 boss was the first boss I had to switch up my build just for the boss, but before I did I died a few times. Plus it's the boss that made me absolutly hate the locked on hit mechanic.
I would get trapped in those traps constantly when I was way past them but it would pull me back in and pretty much kill me every time.

Some people like exploring everything. Personally I'm just trying to get to the higher difficulties ASAP. Never really cared about the story and I don't see the point in sticking around for more loot than I need to beat the next boss as you're going to get exponentially better loot (and more gold) on higher levels.

I can appreciate people who want to take it all in though.

Can anyone recommend a reasonable (smooth running) AA/custom config for this game using Inspector or anything else like that? The AA in the game is a tad blurry. Does forcing AA work without messing around with the inspector profiles?

I play with a group of friends (DH and two Wizards) and so I'm basically the only melee.

Well then of course VIT is good for you because all you're doing is tanking while they just dps it down. No point in pumping VIT if you're a ranged char that never gets hit.

It's scary as hell though playing a glass cannon like Wizard on hardcore. :S

I want to play with all of you soon!

Exactly, all about the risk/reward. My SC DH I can just pump pure DEX for damage and roll things. I certainly won't be doing that for my HC DH. VIT early, then DEX + VIT.

I don't have anything that can run this, but i'm enjoying watching a monk LP, i've played a lot of console clones, it surprises me how blizzards aesthetic of loot fun can't seem to be done effectively by any one other than blizzard.

I want to play with all of you soon!

you are a prevert.

My little vacation is over :(

Work is so dull now when I have D3 at home. God I want the day to go by fast so I can play already!

Yeah, work has slowed to a crawl the past few weeks, and now with D3 waiting to play at home, a slow day at work becomes even slower :(
