FUCK YOU
BELIAL
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Normal or nightmare?

If nightmare... yes oh my god yes.

I've failed probably five times at this point. I'm almost at the point of asking someone to just kill the damn thing for me.

Please, someone kill the thing for me.

Indeed. Can't play the game with a 350 ping and come here to see end game spoilers =/ Even when I'm not playing the game is ruined. (I'm kind of joking if you wondered).

Guess I'll just go back to shuffle through the AH to see what's up.
Kind of? you know damn well you are joking.

People can't seriously believe that was a spoiler, i refuse to believe GAF is this fucking naive.

here's a theory on +stats vs. +damage from the D3 forums. is this what we should be looking for?

say u have 700 stength thats 700% increased dmg as a barb.

and u have 75 base dmg from wep and items already

ull get 6.0 * 75 = 525 dmg

if u add 40str ull get
7.4*75= 555 dmg

if u add the 4 top end instead
7.0*79= 553

so even a basic first purchase ring if uve over stack strength will give the same if not better results. basically tripic summed it up well by saying u need a nice balance of the gear for best dmg

That's the problem I'm having. 200+ms, combined with horribly innacurate mouse controls (for moving), and then
his nearly unavoidable meteor attack.

I've had my game open to the public for an hour now. I refuse to believe that no one is running this boss on nightmare. Is there some other issue preventing people from joining my game?

So when do the jewlers come along? Hope I'm not missing them.

Act 2 at some point, on a quest. Can't miss him

So when do the jewlers come along? Hope I'm not missing them. I maxed out the blacksmith, but I don't think it was worth it...crafting doesn't seem all that useful. I am totally new to this type of game though.

Naming the end boss is pretty much the biggest spoiler you can give, yeah. You might be surprised to hear this, but not everyone knows the diablo series, and people like surprises. Go figure.

Guess the official box is a spoiler right? as is the name? and the dead give aways in the trailers? jesus christ GAF.

It's like saying in a game named Mario you would expect to play as someone not named Mario.

Jesus christ people, the trailers even give it away.

Oh yeah you're right, because everyone saw coming that a movie called Inception would end in an Inception, right?

I just killed him and moved on to Act 3. Me and 2 mages. Ridiculous how hard it is to stay alive. I cannot seem to find a
"here comes the slam" trigger for him to alert me to move the fuck out of the way.
I just keep getting hammered by it.
So glad thats over. I hate Act 2.

please tell you did it in normal and arent level 30 yet :)

Totally agree on this. I really think this type of skill system is ideally suited for action based RPGs. On first glance it seems too simple, but possibly as a result there is a real underlying complexity. Because you're only choosing 6 skills, each one is critical. Also, being free from the limitations imposed by skill trees is really very positive.

I guess you could complain about the lack of permanence, but I really don't think that's justified. IMO, attraction to a character should come through your ability to personalize it, which barriers to changing things just get in the way of.

I honestly didn't understand why they made it impossible to respec in D2 until very recently. One of my favorite aspects of Borderlands, which employs a similar skill-tree formula as Diablo for leveling, is that you can respec easily.

I personally like that Diablo 2 could have wildly different specs. Like an Ice sorc, Lightning Sorc, and Fire Sorc all play differently from one another, so it's basically 3 possible classes. But until the game was better balanced, it was pretty easy to gimp yourself for Hell level.

That won't happen this time since they significantly simplified the classes, which also saves them on balance tweaking in the long run. The fact that spell damage is based on the weapon damage you're holding, that makes it way different than Diablo 2, where Sorcs had to spec for damage in their skill-tree no matter what they held in their hand. (also sucked that inventory charms and socketted weapons did nothing to boost their damage.) It's strange to hold a dagger as a wizard and have that boost your damage, but from a balance standpoint, it makes things simpler. Having my Witch Doctor upgrade his spider and pet damage by equipping a nice bow I found and getting rid of his dagger/shield he was holding is still strange to me. Weapons exist for most classes as just damage modifiers since the skills function independent of weapon types. (Question...does the hunter still shoot its skills from range when holding a couple swords or daggers?)

Still fun with the simplified design, but it also keeps Diablo 2 relevant as a slightly different style of game.

I absolutely refuse to believe anyone on GAF didn't expect X to not be X.

Nobody is that stupid.

Seriously?

You can't imagine that as someone TOTALLY new to the series, you watch no (spoilering) trailer. You see the box art (IF you see the box art and don't buy it online) and think "oh that's a cool looking demon". You like the name because it reminds you of the word "diabolical" and that you'll be fighting demons, so that makes sense. Then BAM someone comes and tells you that Diablo is actually going to be the end boss. You can't imagine that scenario? It's not like people thought Mario was going to be the end boss in Mario simply because the name was that, or that they'd be fighting the Lord of the Rings in the end of LOTR or whatnot. Name doesn't ALWAYS have to be the end boss, in fact, most of the time it isn't.

So is it really THAT hard to put sth small into spoilertags? It takes you 1 second and saves LOADS of other people HOURS of looking forward to seeing who the end boss will be.

For what it's worth, I don't know ANYTHING about the diablo story, I don't know who the diablo endboss in D1 and D2 was, Diablo could've EASILY died in D1 and someone else could've been endboss for 2 and 3 in my books and they just went with the name. I don't know. I was certainly spoilerd, and so were others.

Insulting them as stupid isn't really helping either.

One of the most unheralded new additions to D3 is the randomized events and dungeons. I don't think people realize how huge this is. I was clearing Desolate Sands for the 2nd time (had to log before I could finish the first time) and out of fucking nowhere an enormous unique/yellow rock worm explodes out of the ground in front of me. After killing him the hole in the ground he came out of turns out to be a dungeon with 2 fucking levels. I cleared the entire map the first time through, every inch of fog of war, and never had this rock worm appear. I've been seeing these randomized events all the time and it's so damn great and adds so much to the replayability of the game. These random events and dungeons + the skill rune system are two huge additions to the genre. This is the game of the gen. Bravo!

East Coast latency is atrocious. In my group of friends, one is in SF and has amazing latency. The rest of us are on East Coast and consistently get over 300. We actually get much better latency in Europe, but we don't want to go over there because of possible weirdness with the RMAH (I don't care, but some others do.)

Thanks for the quick response and of course I have Elective mode on plus the advance tooltip on. Thank god for the OP because I read most of it and definitely made a mental note to turn those on. My experience would've been way different without Elective mode.

I am using Grenades + Bolo trap with DH which I wouldn't have been able to do without Elective mode. Don't know why this mode isn't standard.

I saw you playing while I was playing racking up those achievements. Your level is way ahead of mine so I don't think we would be seeing each other much. :D

Yeah, I've been playing with my roommate.

OMG I DID IT AND WITH 350+ PING OH GOD. this is some demons souls levels of excitement not because the boss was hard but because of the stupid conditions i have to deal.

Diablo is in the games name, the whole series is called Diablo, Diablo is on the box art, every promotional material ever, most - if not all - commercials..

Let's just stop talking about it, it's for the best. I know I was spoilered by people mentioning who the end boss is, I know other people have, and I know you guys don't understand because it's obvious to you. Not to others, and I wish you'd at least try to follow the OT spoilertag rules so the experience doesn't get worsened for us, even if you think we're stupid/naive and don't understand. It takes 2seconds to put a spoilertag.

Diablo being in the game was as guaranteed as Master Chief being in the numbered Halo games. What is actually spoilery is how Diablo appears - and that I won't post.

Anyway. I have the worst luck with loots. Maybe I'll be able to sell the bow for $$$ so I can buy myself a nice new weapon.

Bump cause it took me a while to type that out and stuff. Anyone else have some cool randomized events?
