Nonsense! A budding cartogropher must map out every part of every region.

I walk along the borders of new regions, then after circling my way back to where I've began I go left to right to left to right killing all the mobs. Then once I've mapped it out I do the dungeons that I have found!

My man! High five!
Cartographers and Explorers unite!

Playing this really makes me wish I got a game that had an art style similar to Act 1, but where you basically stayed outside in that sort of environment except for smaller inside jaunts.

Going through all the extra dungeons only to find that the rewards are always terrible. Still on Act II and I've played like 15 hours so far I think. Perhaps I should just speed through it.

Do you click for each attack or just hold in the mouse? I have to hold in order for not make my girlfriend go crazy with the clickingsounds..
I'm holding where possible (i.e. single target), but multiple mobs making clicking necessary sometimes.

Same here, sometimes I go left to right, up a bit, then back right to left to mix it up. Always clear every enemy (another annoyance about my missing achievements are the exploration ones I'm missing. At least I'll pick them up on another character or difficulty, but if there are any barb/normal specific ones I'll be annoyed).

When did you complete the prerequisites for that first achievement? I remember reading the achievement servers were going up and down in the first day so a lot of people have missing achievements like that...
It started working last night, but I think they were missing from the two nights previous. I haven't really been through what I'm missing (spoilers galore in those lists I think), I'll try and work that out when I've played through the game fully once.

Just consider it material/gold farming for the crafting.

So guys, any suggestions on destroying
Magda
? I keep getting killed :( I'm playing on Normal now.
What specifically are you struggling with? I just
unloaded on her when the bubble was down, and AoE'd the adds when they spawn
. Also, if you want people to click the spoiler you might want to indicate roughly where in the game it is.

Well...class?

Sorry, Barbarian. Here's some pics that might help show where I'm at

Thanks!

Thanks!

Your DPS is very, very low. Go to the auction house and in the search parameters, look for weapon/armor with around 20 - 25 strength, and put the max buyout as 2k. That would raise your damage quite a bit, I think.

Bash with the stun rune will help - the stun will help you maximise the damage you can do when the enemy is susceptible to damage. Do you have Earthquake yet? Because that is godly (don't waste it on the adds, and try and hold the mob in place while you use it to maximise damage).

This as well (though you obviously sacrifice some DPS for the shield). If you have the money, consider crafting - I spent some time/money/materials crafting last night and it made a huge difference to my damage output.

EDIT: Also, you're not using elective mode are you? Might want to look at that, gives you so many more options for how you want to set your character up.

Thanks for the idea. I feel like an idiot but, where is the auction house?

I've only seen a few images of max level legendaries and set items, but they seemed pretty impressive. Whats the problem? Like are they substantially weaker than rares or something?

My friend is lvl 60, hasn't done any inferno mind you. But he bought a magic 1 hander from the AH. It's dmg is over 500, which is way more than ANY sub lvl 60 legendary weapon, actually it's also higher than some lvl 60 legendaries.

Itemization for the legendaries (sets aswell) are also really bad. All of them pretty much, except for a handfull, have random stat affixes. Meaning you might get a legendary bow that has +str or int. Which makes no goddamn sense. Even some of the stats that are always there don't make a lick of sense. I was checking the AH earlier for legendary bows, one of the bows had int on it, first I thought it was it was one of the random stats for the bow, after checking the 20+ version of that legendary bow on the AH, it turned out all of them had int on them. Seriously, WHY would demon hunters want int on their weapons? Answer - they wouldn't.

As it is right now, legendaries are pretty much rare items that has 1-4 specific stats on them, and 1-5 random stats. Which is really bad imo. It's hard enough to just find a legendary atm, but finding one that has stats that are good? Fucking impossible.

Does the itemization ever evolve?

I mean, all we're gonna get are +stats stuff? No funky item mods like on D2?

Itemization sucks in D3. Hopefully they will update it in a patch or something.

Intelligence is also +resistance right? Surely there's a viable reason for stacking resistance later in the game? Elemental/poison damage is what hits me the hardest right now.

Yes, stats are random. This is Diablo, not WoW.

I'm a level 17 wizard, but my dps is only 51. Do I just go for items with +int over everything else including armor etc etc? This is my first Diablo game. Should I always be attacking with a staff from range?

Also, what is stacking?

Yup. Amulets, chest armor, pants, etc. Your dps will go waaay up if you wear items with the stat your character relies on for damage.

So yeah, Act 2 of Hell...getting a little tired of dying instantly to arcane enchanted, molten and desecrator enemies. A combination of their minions EACH spawning their own environmental crap, connection problems causing me to stand still and die in said crap, and the general ineffectuality of resist gear has led to a lot of deaths. Even with a Monk partner. Did I mention that at least half of them have Jailer or Frozen?

At least Dread Bomb is hilarious and actually pretty effective. I was getting some 60k crits with it earlier...unfortunately that barely makes a dent in the average Hell champion's life. I don't know what kind of gear it's expecting me to have, but in the brief moments that the AH actually works I've managed to secure some decent upgrades. And I still die in seconds.

I had some better luck going in with four people rather than two, but then we get one person constantly dropping and being unable to rejoin. Last night it was me, tonight it was someone else.

Hmmm...

I must say, I think I'm learning quickly how not to bid on expensive shit in the auction house: Don't bid on auctions that have days left in them. Your monies are tied up for the duration unless you get outbid...which means you can't bid on another auction that may pop up. :-(

Related question: Is the legendary stuff of reasonable price? I was thinking about buying a legendar Wizard wand (Starfire) and I'm bidding on one...but most are up in the 100k-150k range. I don't have enough to buy one outright like that, but maybe I can win an auction for less. idk. If I can't, does it make sense to just save up and pay the price?

Oh, and Archon is OP. Fuck yo couch!

Yay, after chars of lvl 18/43/22 I finally found my first unique with my 4th DH@31. Sadly its some 2h sword, but pretty beastly.

Noob question:

If a weapon says " + 3-5 fire dmg" , is that already calculated in the total DPS for that item or should I still add it?

Yes, stats are random. This is Diablo, not WoW.

The only items in WoW that have randomized stats are green items...

Also, unique and set items in diablo 2 weren't full of random stats affixes, they had set stats that had varying numbers. For instance, you could get a weapon that had between 150 to 200% enchanced damage.

Thanks for replying to something you clearly don't know anything about though.

wtf? this guy is on inferno playing as monk and owns hard.

ACT 1 spoilers!

http://en.twitch.tv/nl_krippi

confirmed monk is fucking OP.

This shit is ridiculous.

Edit: ok now he died. He just ran into a rar mob pack. Oh and he plays solo.

6765 damage O_o

This is on his stream.

I lol'd

I love my Monk. I kinda do the same. Run into mob and let them pound on me while I kill them and heal myself constantly.

Kind of inconvenient! You have to stop your game and go there from the menu.

PicardDoubleFacepalm-1.jpg

(because one facepalm wasn't enough)

Wow, I'm an idiot. Thanks! I'm going to have another run at that boss tomorrow.

Get some rings/amulets with x-y damage and attack speed boost on them, that is the best way to bring up your DPS at lower levels, check the merchants. Also, white gear at lvl17?
Thanks guys for the suggestions! I'll give them a shot and report back. Oh, it's just dye :P

I am playing as a monk and although I know little about Diablo in general, it feels way too easy. I am only level 13 or something but up until now it has been a total breeze.
Still like it though :)

Find one unique item in any other Diablo game with random affixes. Go ahead, I'll wait.

There aren't any, you say? Oh. That's right. There aren't any.

offtopic fugu, how is your hardcore adventure going thus far in diablo 3? What level are you at? :)
