I dunno about that AH, everyone seems to just buy awesome items from there and call it a day, kinda takes some of the fun out of finding them yourselves no? I mean wasn't Diablo all about LOOT and having some awesome item DROP from a boss or rare mob ?

Now it's like "ehh fuck that item i'll just buy myself a better one" hmm...

Need some help DiabloGAF, just noticed none of the cinematics are auto-playing during my Wizard's campaign. I didn't even realize I was missing anything until I started a new character. The game just skips them entirely, and I have to go back to the main menu to watch the ones I missed.

Is it a bug? Or did I somehow turn off cinematics for this character? Halp!

Guys, I need some help with the Monk build. I'm playing on Normal right now.. I'm level 24 but my DPS is 69 only. I have one friend who's level 33 and his DPS is like 380 or something, and I hardly doubt the DPS goes up so much in those 10 levels..

Here's a screenshot of my character:

Any suggestions on why it's so low? Or is this average? (and maybe my friend is playing on a higher difficulty level or something?)

I'm trying to beat the final boss on Act II and one of his attacks always destroys me. It wouldn't be so bad if I could at least make some damage, but his life bar goes down so slow it takes forever...

:/ no offense, but that's kind of awful. The first thing worth mentioning is you don't have to equip fist or staffs. You want weapons with the best DPS possible and not something class specific. The game does all the work for you of calculating what the stats on the weapon do in terms of DPS in that big giant number in the middle. The second thing that should up your DPS is stack DEX and +damage items. If you don't have any of those things either craft till you get some or swing by the auction house. The AH is probably your best bet people have puts tons of stuff up on there.

In regards to the ACT II a lvl 27 monk should be able to actually just stand there and take all the damage he does if hes built right. Make sure you have the passive that heals for any spirit you use and the one that cause you to to regen 2 spirit per second with a mantra up. Your active skills should be Crippling Wave, Mantra of Healing, Breath of Life, Seven-Side Strike, and the rest can be whatever you want.

It's based on the number of enemies caught within the circle. Each enemy with give ~150 or something intelligence, which totally ramps up your damage.

It's one of the best skills for the WD.

Yeah, it's a staple of my WD. Huge amount of damage and with runes tossing in more utility... amazing. You even get a passive that reduces the cooldown.

If you look really close at the buff icon, there's a number - that's the amount of targets you hit it, AKA the bonus multiplier. Hits up to 5 targets, afaik.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I was trying to just use stuff I'd find around... but it seems like the stuff I got is pretty bad, or something :(

Yeah, I'd recommend not doing that, especially for Normal.

If you hit a wall in Nightmare or higher because you haven't picked up good loot, then maybe check out the AH, but till then you probably shouldn't unless you've been really unlucky with drops.

Get that Magic Find up to keep the loot treadmill fun. :>

If I bought the game online, do I still get guest passes to hand out? If yes, where can I find them/it?

That's the way I feel about it — each to their own I guess. I'm sure I'll sell stuff on it though.

You don't get any if you buy from battle.net

No, the videos are compressed badly and have noticeable artifacting. I play 1680x1050 as well. The ending video is the worst, it has a lot of small parts in motion and one point and it looks like a shitty old 240p youtube video from 5 years ago. System won't have anything to do with it, it's just how the videos are.

This is what I'm talking about though. I'm not a videophile by any stretch, but my cinematics are easily Blu-ray quality. I don't see a single bit of compression or pixelation.

No worries. I know I've been trying to keep playing with a class-specific weapon, but I guess I'll just quit seeing how it's not really working out :P

I will try out the build you said, see how it works!.

Okay, so my and three of my bestest friends are off to conquer the forces of hell this weekend. We're holding a LAN and just becoming fat and filthy slobs in the process.

Question for those Witch Doctors out there. I've been rolling with the above three bestest friends and we are almost done with Act I. Our group consists of me, the Witch Doctor (DrLush, for those wanting to know), a Monk, a Barbarian, and a Wizard. So, my question is, how would you suggest I spec my Witch Doctor for optimal group synergy?

I'm currently level 13, so not a lot is unlocked, by I am finding it to be a challenge to feel like I am a part of the group. Most of my pets don't make it to the enemies by the time they are destroyed by the Monk & Barb. Dire Bats, Plague of Toads, and Haunt, though awesome spells (imo) just don't seem to do much to compete with the onlsaught my friends bring.

I played Diablo 1 with a controller. It's... certainly a way to heighten the challenge.
What type of controller?

Full analog movement of your character with direction action seems a hell of a lot more fun to me. I see no reason why it wouldn't work well.

Funny thing is that I can log into the game and play but b.net site is down, so no way for me to activate my full game cd key. Must survive on starter edition till site it back up.

Not being able to cast your targeted spells at specific locations sounds like it would be the biggest downside to using a controller.

Can't connect to Eu Servers now.

Also, my level 25 monk is 110 dps. All my equipement gives me +10/20/30 dex.

Why so low ? How can people hit 350 dsp at this point ? (end boss of act II) I but be missing something...

A quick question:

I placed a bid on one item in the AH (the auto-recommended sum), but then got a message saying it's too low to be able to win. My coins were removed from the sum at the top of the AH window.

If I bid higher again, only the difference between the current bid and the new bid will be subtracted, correct (aka classic bidding rules)? And if I would lose the bidding, I don't lose a single coin, correct? Don't wanna risk losing my hard-earned coins right now, since I'm so low-levelled. :P

This weekend I finally be able to sit down and put some serious time into the game. Please, Blizzard, don't shit the bed this weekend and get the latency issues under control.

I don't know for certain about the bidding rules, but I do know how failed buyouts work: If you click on the "Completed" tab you'll find the coins that you couldn't spend returned to you. Click on them to transfer them back to your wallet.

Items with +dmg give insanely more dps than dex does at lower levels. I replaced a 30 STR ring on my barb with a +2-4 dmg ring and my dps went up by like 50 points.

I have a lvl 22 DH and my DPS is 140. I don't know if monks are supposed to have lower DPS but either way, 350 DPS seems ridiculous.

I know, I have a dagger that gives me 25% dmg and even if the dps number is lower, the total dmg count (on the side list) makes it higher

I know :(

Right now my weapons are:

I'll see if I can find something like that :/
You arent limited to fist weapons, so if you find some other types of 1h weapon with better dmg on them, use them. As many have already said, bump your dexterity as much as you can. If you are near the end of normal, you should be seeing stuff with 30 plus dexterity on it. My damage was a little low on my DH, but once I started bumping my dex and using gems, my damage tripled within 2 levels.
