No, the mods go through the obituaries every day to make sure that no GAF members have died. If they have, they deactivate their accounts immediately.
They made EatChildren a mod specifically for this role.

I don't think there is, wasn't there one guy who made like 1 post about mk vs dc only to reappear 3 years later to serve crow to the disbelievers?I'm sure there is some kind of window where the mods assess whether or not an account is active/abandoned.
I'll just have to split my account into 7 piecesevilore gets to keep your soul. its in the very, very fine print most people can't see.

Once I believe. Might have been before my time.
Dead Like Me: The Digital Age on Showtime this fall
A guy from HaloGAF passed away a few years ago.Are there any confirmed dead Gaffers? Just curious.
time for the very offensive and deeply insensitive post of the day (please do not ban me for saying the obvious here.. please?):
ask snaildog.
I miss seeing his avatar in gaming side.
In case you don't know:after posting regularly on gaf, he stopped posting for a year or so, and eventually turned up in a news report, indicating that he had been suffering from depression-like feelings and so on for a while, and chose to end it in the most drastic sense possible, that being suicide.
That's why it's so deeply insensitive, and I realize you didn't ask to have this in your thread -sorry- but in my defense, it is a valid answer to the thread, albeit one that will probably not end very well for me. I'm hoping the moderators can see my reasoning behind it though.

oh yes: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55845
also, why trim the number of members, numbers look good.
I do like the theoretical concept of eventually being able to reconstruct a digital copy of a deceased person's personality based on their digital fingerprint.
Apropos of nothing, one of my colleagues was killed last year in a rather horrible traffic accident and it makes me quite sad any time Facebook suggests her as a friend.
(I am tangentially trying to make a point that a server can't guess you're dead if you haven't logged in for a while, I've excised myself from several online communities deliberately and it's not due to lack of oxygen consumption.)
RIP BerserkerBarage. The guy was a newlywed. :-(A guy from HaloGAF passed away a few years ago.
Isn't there an option to appeal to facebook to delete users that have died or otherwise inconvenienced in such a way (comatose, that sort of thing) that keeping the account online is morally questionable?
Who was that guy in the black culture thread who took a trip to Japan and then posted something like, "I really fucked up this time" and then never posted again?
Pretty sure he's dead.
I thought this was going to be about what happens after you're banned. It'd be cool if when you got banned, you could post as a Junior Member, but no one would see it. Like a sick purgatory of the internet.
Maybe I'm there right now though.
Someone quote this.
Hope I go out doing something news worthy so I could get my own thread with all you mourning in it.
Ha holy shit WAT?!Who was that guy in the black culture thread who took a trip to Japan and then posted something like, "I really fucked up this time" and then never posted again?

I think about this shit all the time. I have close online friends who if I died, would most likely never know. I keep meaning to set something up with my irl friends to let those guys know if something happened to me.
So it's safe to assume...No this actually happened. He hasn't posted or been online in 2 months since that.
Is it currently running?I'm developing an AI that can still post for me after I die. It will just take all my previous replies and regurgitate them when needed.
So it's safe to assume...
he's dead?
Probably in jail.
They go to GAF-Heaven, where Half-Life is already on it's sixth installment, Bayonetta 2 is released, and your own personal GAF-Gold account
