Well shit, I didn't realize DH can equip weapons other than bows. I just went from long range fragile lady to medium range bomber survivoress.

Completely changed my play style mid-game.

Elective mode is so mandatory for Barbarians. All the Rage catagory abilities just don't compare to having both Leap AND Ground Stomp.

Shame that Barbarians are so messed up. Half of their abilities are amazingly powerful and the other half are just amazingly awful. Overpower being a prime candidate.

My WD. I used daggers+mojos the most on my first playtrough (starting nightmare now), but recently swithed for axe with big int bonus and gem slot.

The free slot is for basic weapon attack. I just have a soft spot for good old hack n' slash.

Soul Harvest + Fire Bats and Zombie dogs + Sacrifice have yet to fail me. My giant pet zombie is also awesome.

GOTY overall, addicting as fuck!

just picked it up today! started a WD but would like to have a chance to play a different character with folks

Vampiric Teleport Firechain in a tunnel

FML

Fuck fire chain. Seriously.

Fire Chain Molten and fire chain desecrator are seriously the bane of my fucking existence.

Worse than god damn arcane.

And now there's a fucking shield + electrified pack of spiders blocking my way. Can't do shit since I either die horribly to lightning or they just go trololololo and go invulnerable.

Alright, I think I have a pretty decent build for solo barb 2H farming in Hell.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#ahYSgQ!Zdg!cZZcbc

My current stats, looking to gamble for more str/vit gear. I have no life leech right now. Everything is coming purely off skill cooldowns.
d33.gif

This should be pretty good with heavier crit hit chance and obviously a heavier weapon. Life leech will help immensely.

I'm not using the life leech rune on WW because my crit is low. With better gear, life leech rune will shine. But for now, survival is important so you need the mobile WW to get out of tight spots, supplemented with ground stomp and charge. You're good to go. I've been whirling around arcane lasers and stuff since they all rotate one way and still hit stuff fashionably.

I've read that a lot of D3 barb players have been running into stumps and think 2H barbs can't hang in Hell. They are wrong pretty much.

Kite them into an open area. Don't fight in corridors when elites are enchanted with those types of things.

When you die it says your items' durability has dropped 10%. Does that mean the item's Total durability has dropped eg. previous it was 50/50 and now it's 45/45 etc? Or does it just drop and you can repair it (eg 45/50)?

Are there any other downsides to dying?

I'm now nearing the end of Act 2 on Normal and my chest is full of rare items. In even bought more slots three times but these rares just keep dropping. What should I so with them given they are lower level? I have been salvaging materials from magic items but keeping rares. Also I have couple of legendarys, not sure if they are valuable, haven't seen many.

Additive values. Die 10x = broke.

You basically just pay some gold to repair it. If you die during a fight and it breaks, you come back naked and you need to repair before resuming. If it's a boss fight, you're done.

Salvage when you are in hell mode. I have tons of useless mats from salvaging whereas I should have sold it for gold.

Hopefully someone can give me some insight into this, I have been trying to find a solution for 6 hours.

My game has a weird problem that is bugging me so badly while I play. The screen "hitches" or "micro stutters" or something, I'm not really sure what to call it. Any time I move my character and the game world is scrolling, it sort of move forward and back really quickly, pretty much a really bad stutter. However, my FPS never goes below 60. (I use Vsync)

I have tried everything I can think of to remedy this problem, messed with graphics settings, nVidia Inspector, vsync, adaptive vsync, no vysnc, triple buffering, different GPU drivers, everything. I have an i7 930 OC'ed to 3.5GHz, 8GB RAM, SSD, and a 2GB GTX 680. SO I should be able to run this game fine. I don't have a problem with screen tearing or FPS.

I did install the game onto my MacBook Pro 2011, and it kinda seems like it has the same problem as the PC, but maybe not as bad. It's the worst in places like Tristam, the base towns. When out in the world it's not so bad.

I'm just wondering if this is something that is my problem or if it is something more widespread or a general problem with the game.

Beat normal yesterday with a Demon Hunter.

OmEG0.jpg

Imo, the class is pretty dull and has too many redundant skills. Half the Demon Hunter's abilities are just different variations of cone and circular aoe damage abilities, most of which seem redundant after you get the ball lightning rune. Passive choices also seem shallow, as there are a few auto includes amongst a bunch of others which are too situational.

So just sell everything now?

Are the material economics different in Hell mode then?

Yeah because they're different. You would use those mats for those tiers of blacksmithing. They're pointless to make.

You might as well use a bit of gold with NPC vendors for a hassle free way of getting random drops.

Finally got through normal mode and onto nightmare, loved the first play though, but things are starting to really pick up. BTW, I thought the last act was amazing.

Anyone else see the game getting more followers in an expansion? We'll definitely see new classes, but it could be cool to pick up a new follower in an expansion Act, and then be able to bring him/her along throughout the rest of the game. I'm not sure what type of combat paradigm it would be though, as we're pretty much covered with Magic/Ranged/Melee.

Level 54 now, just beat act 1 in hell. Monk shows as having 6.5k damage in the character screen after some great item upgrades and I am tearing stuff apart now.

Time for some sleep before tackling act 2.

The end boss of Act II is so cheap on Nightmare, have troubling beating him

Doesn't help my fps drops like mad

Time to hit up the AH

I'm in the tunnels in Act 2. Everything is a corridor!

And now I just killed a Frozen + Mortar + Knockback pack. The monsters even had innate slows since they were spiders! Only took me three deaths... some of these combos are so trollish.

Died more times in ACT I hell than I've died in dark and demon's souls combined...

fml.

Act 2 seems to get a lot of hate but I liked the general aesthetics, both the art and the music. It's clearly an homage to D2's second Act but it reminded me even much more of Titan Quest's Egypt portions, which I really liked.

Hah! I need to go back and play Dark Souls some more. At least the death penalty isn't as bad (well, except for Hardcore.) Death is only really bad in the Souls games when you die twice in a row though.

Eh, what does elective mode actually do? I just thought it enables you to move your keybinds around but that barbarian skill comment has me scratching my head.

That is nothing after a certain level. You just do not care about non-boss souls after a point. Unless you farm. Then you do not die anyway :D

The lag is atrocious. I can't play it at the minute. Dying because the game hitches up for 1-2 seconds, enough for me to go from full health to death.

GG Blizzard.

alright i now hear conflicting opinions for salvaging on Normal... sell or salvage?

Can i use those mats for ANYTHING later or am i better off getting the gold? I won't buy stuff on the AH YET until i clear normal though so...

My honest advice re: salvaging and gearing up...

If you want to level up crafting, salvage enough to lvl it. But it's a huge gold sink.

sell your crap from normal to nightmare/early hell if you can't use it.

You can make games and visit NPC vendors for upgrades and pay a little bit of gold. Items are randomized every game creation and you just might luck out on something awesome like +primary stat, +vitality, 2-3 sockets lumped into one.

Some monster affix combinations are just not fair man fuck meeee....

Hear me out...

Vampiric

No. No. Reset game.

So after all the talk about AH I decided to try it myself. It pretty much turned out the way I expected it to. With only 20.000k gold I ruined the rest of my normal playthrough and probably a good portion of the nightmare for me. I bought a weapon which is way overpowered for only 10k, spent the rest on rubins. I now do damage around 400 instead of 180 before. I won't find better loot for a long time and the game is now easy as piss. The AH imo really is something that shouldn't be there. It's like it destroys the original meaning of the game.

I've only gotten to Act 2 nightmare (I've slowed down after completing normal), but I think the worst was an Illusionist/Frozen pack early in Act 1. Fucking Frost Novas everywhere. Champions past normal are definitely what's going to keep the game interesting while replaying.

Well in D2, people would just give away super good weapons because they were only interested in farming uniques or particular items.

Now, they sell them or put them into a gold sink instead.

The result for lowbies is the same. You have a choice: make the game easier by using the AH, or nerf yourself by refusing it.

I'm a 2h barb player. I use Seismic instead of WW though.

i gave away two guest codes in the beggar thread but i still have the Diablo2/expansion code sitting around. what kind of trade am i looking at here?

no steam account but I wouldn't mind adding my fist game(or 20)

The economy on normal is so broken. 20k gold got me a full set of high quality rares with radiant gems to socket in them. I basically tripled my stats instantaneously and with how cheap things are on the AH, there's very little incentive to care about drops right now.
