Paul Gale Network Bullshit: "Star Fox Metroid: Fusion Saga" isn't real (no shit!)

The only way this may work is if Starfox is seriously 'gritted up' with a darker style, and there is no direct communication between Fox and Samus. By the the end, both characters may end up having an impact on each others' circumstances, without ever actually knowing it.

We never get a good look at Fox's face, and don't see him outside of the cockpit of his Arwing. The most we'd see is a shadowy head that is vaguely fox-like.

I'd be inclined to remove Fox's team mates, too. The aim would be to make Fox seem mysterious, and constant chatter between team mates would ruin that setup.

I still can't believe this rumour, though.

What's so funny about this is that he was posting in the Wii-U about 'how AWESOME the rumor is, I just have to post it". When questioned about if he believed in his source, he side-stepped the question completely.

Then he posts this abomination and everybody dogs the rumor for how horrible this idea is. :lol

You know what I believe? Just like with TMNT, PGN made this up completely himself. He came up with a "cool" idea, and wanted everyone to listen but he knew no one would really give a shit about some random idea. So be slapped a big fat rumor label on it and baited some of the posters in the WiiU spec thread with it, knowing they would post a thread about it.

Hell, if you read through the lines he basically admits the idea is made up and has zero possibility of being real. Well guess what PG? Your idea sucks, and you (IMO) should be banned for making me even consider it was a possibility that a TMNT game was being developed by Rocksteady.

The only reason this would exist is if Nintendo wanted absolute, concrete proof to kill both franchises forever. Destroy any semblance of loyalty and interest remaining from both fan bases, and send the game to die in a market that won't buy it.

Genius, really.

Exactly. This is without a doubt total bullshit. Nobody would be that damn stupid at Nintendo. I have no doubt about it.

This would effectively make him the saddest individual on the planet. I'd like to think better of our species.

Hey, did you know your avatar is a muscular, humanoid shark?

Not to mention the bit about moe loli wolf companions. :P

Seriously though, as someone who has been around the since the early days of Sonic's online fandom, I can understand being embarrassed by it, but it's gotten a *little* bit better over the years. At least we "bitter old fucks" are being catered to (Sonic Generations) by SEGA rather than the creepy people who write hentai fiction about Eggman and Big the Cat.

Meh... if this means a proper successor to Star Fox 64 with online play can finally be released I wouldn't complain honestly.

First leaked render.

Paul's almost right. He forgot about the part in which Samus ends up in Mario Galaxy and how Starfox gets marooned on the same planet as Olimar.

Don't forget the part where Captain Falcon shows up, saves Adam, and Falcon punches bowser so hard that it some how powers Fox's and Olimar's ships.

Basic Nintendo "out there" idea cycle:

WTF this is so stupid --> OMG THIS GAME IS AMAZING

If it's true I'm sure it'll be awesome. I have full faith in Retro to pull something this cool off, and I expect the dialogue in the Star Fox parts to be absolutely top notch.

You do understand Star Fox isn't really lighthearted at all. Even the beloved 64 is pretty harsh.

I still stand by that posting in animeGAF threads can earn you tags unexpectedly :P

Look, this is the shit people think when thinking about this project, and thats what surely want happen.

If it happens (most possibly not) its going to be something it doesnt take itself to seriously in story, like what I said in the other page.
The thing is, what if this rumour is true and the game is fuking amazing. Like the best thing since slide bread. The Metroid section is awesome prime, and the starfox is a mix of snes and 64. It plays perfectly in both sides and have graphics that would cream the pants of any person, and the music is a fucking amazing orchestra that would blow the ears off.
It only has a little fun story about Andross and Mother Brain and its not taking itself too seriously.

Its Retro, if the game was released the above could perfectly happen.

Then, the people here that are saying is insane and would not touch the game with a ten foot pole, would they buy it becuase is fucking incredible?

Thats the real question here.

My stance, if the above was true I would not mind, it could perfectly save both franchises, and I think people are taking it too serioursly.
However, im not saying the rumour is true, it most probably false and it could be anything (even that Retro are making only Star Fox WiiU, have some ideas for a future Metroid, and rumours have mixed).

yep, it was at the bottom of the page lol

Pretty much, it's like the entirety of NeoGaf forgot how most great Nintendo ideas start out - by being bat shit insane.

Nailed it in the first ten posts. Good god. I can believe that this proposal was briefly kicked around, but I don't believe for a second that it's what Retro is actually developing.

And Command is all kinds of dark, what with Krystal's revelation that
General Pepper started a war with Andross/exiled him over petty personal reasons, not because Andross' research was dangerous.

this topic reminded me of how much I want an f-zero spin off where you play as some of the bounty hunters using a gameplay mechaninc like the batman arkham games, main characters could be C. Falcon, Samura Goroh and maybe Picco just for the sake of the traditional main cast :P

Why do so many posters have this bright, colorful, happy image of starfox? This is a universe where a war is CONSTANTLY going on, people dying all over the place, and pretty fucked up shit can happen (StarFox Assault). StarFox is pretty damned dark.

Also, Other M, Fusion, Prime 3? Those had pretty melodramatic stories, with Other M being more so than ANY starfox title, and yet no one had brought them up.

I'm just saying, the universes CAN mix. The gameplay CAN mix, and if Nintendo wants to, they CAN pull this off.

Maybe it is like avengers and they are doing team up stuff before he next smash bros

Pokemon x nobunaga
Layton x Phoenix
Metroid x starfox

I seriously cannot understand how anybody could seriously humour the blending of Star Fox and Metroid universes as a good thing. Why. Why.

No it's not. A combination of two games is not the same as two stand-alone games. This wouldn't be the Orange Box.

It absolutely is.

You're forgetting that the few details we 'know' of the game so far heavily emphasise that both sections will be reminiscent of the atmosphere that the respective ip's are known for, and the characters ALSO don't meet up to very later on, suggesting very minimal interaction.

This title, if real. Is clearly Nintendo thinking it'd be safer to appeal to two audiences than one, especially when Metroid Prime 4 or Starfox U alone would require significant financial investment. So yes, if anything it would seem closer to 'The Orange Box' than the Saturday Morning Cartoon that everyone else seems to be anticipating.

Lastly, we haven't seen anything. So much like the Rareware thread, the Wii U thread and all the other threads were people are getting angry over something they are yet to even see, don't judge the title until we actually know what it'll be like.

Because it has potential to be really good?

Starfox + Metroid = win. The characters and worlds of both series were designed by the same guy, Takaya Imamura, so Falco and Captain Falcon could both share the same universe.

This is BULLSH****

Just listen to how he begins the story, "Please take this as rumor and with a grain of salt". And then the dude goes on to say remember how "we broke the Retro Studios story before". Paul Gale broke a story that Retro Studios received Wii U development kits. Are you serious??

Nintendo is iron clad. There is no way this bozo paul gale would get consisten tips from Retro and post them periodically. GTFO!!!

I can't wait for these shitty rumors and speculation to end. Let's get some ground sensible ideas built on actual evidence at the least.

Will you go on record now claiming that you believe there's validity to this "rumor"? And if so, will you agree to encourage other members to "Pfft" and speed scroll past all subsequent posts you make in any thread after this Guiseppe Contelli-grade fan fic has been proven false?

Because it has potential to be really good?

What reliance do any of the good ideas in the post have on combining the Metroid and Star Fox franchises? None. I'm not questioning whether or not Retro could make a good flight/ground exploration game. I'm questioning why in hell they'd be so insane to combine two thematically distant franchises for seemingly no good reason, when either franchise could exist independently in the design, and mixing them together will do nothing other than irritate long time fans of both?

There's no reason for both franchises to be squished together on a thematic level, and mechanics are universal.

It's double franchise suicide.

Eh I could deal with it I suppose. It's not like I put any value into either of the two universes or..."stories" individually, so combining them isn't so ridiculous to me. This isn't like combining star wars and star trek or anything.

Such hostility. Calm down.

In a leaked picture, it shows Samus with her helmet off kissing fox who is dead at the moment. The kiss somehow brings him back to life and turns him, Falco and Wolf into their Hyper Super Ultra forms and they go off to fight Kim Jong Il. Seems legit to me fellas.
