It's crazy that you can find late 30's rare gear for 5-10k gold.

I find myself selling some good shit for like 1k in the lower levels simply cause i dont have a good handle on what they are worth because the in-game economy is total shit and you have to basically study the auction house to even know how much to sell shit for.

Plus im not gonna use the crap anyway, so selling for that amount still gets me 10x the value of what i would have gotten otherwise. And its real easy to post an auction.

Would you rather have the Random Number Gods fuck you up the ass and drop nothing good for your class while going through the quests so you'd be stuck farming the same act while leveling?

I see your point. However, I would think it possible to alleviate this issue. For example, imagine a system that weights each piece of gear based on stat values and your hero class. It would be fairly trivial to keep a running total, or average, of each character's item finds. Then the game logic could compensate by dropping fewer or more highly weighted items. It could even be possible to tie in to the "magic find" mechanic already in place.

Rares drop pretty frequently for me in nm with 97 mf. And most of it is stuff that I can't use, shouldn't use, or isn't any better than my current gear. So I'm pretty much drowning in equipment that I don't need, but can't bring myself to throw away. Probably the same for lots of people.

I am starting to be a lot more selective in what I pick up though. Just not enough inventory/stash space to pick up everything.

Funny story:

Last night, I was in the elevator of my mom's apartment with my roommate, on our way to her place for dinner.

On the way up, a couple guys got into the elevator, and overheard us talk about how late we were up the previous night, and how we really should stop doing that.

Then one of the guys in the elevator asked "Were you guys playing Diablo 3?"

We just stared at him, and said "Uhh....yeah."

He just replied "I know that feeling, man. I can't stop playing."

It feels like most people with a computer + the internet are playing. Half the results on Google when I'm trying to look something D3 related up timeout or get bad gateway errors! The sales numbers for this are going to be huge.

Anyone else have this?

I was an avid D2 player back in the day, and had lots of fun. So naturally i looked forward for years for D3 (i also was on the convention were they announced it). Now that it came out i feel kinda meh about it.

I cleared Hell difficulty, and i like my char. does enough dmg etc. but i feel like something is missing. Im not having the same fun as i had in D2....maybe its because im older and stuff but i dont know. feel kinda bummed :( i get the feeling this is not gonna be a game im gonna play the next couple years like D2...

The D2 Expansion Pack added so much of what made D2 awesome. More classes, more skills, more loot and more content. Vanilla D2 was ok but the Exp Pack made it awesome.

I am enjoying D3 as it stands but I do miss things like Runewords and more stuff I can socket. I would like to see more than just 1 more Act for the D3 expansion pack. Maybe some alternate modes like Coliseum Boss Rush mode or something like that. :D PvP should also lengthen it a bit more.

So, who is finding that using the AH to buy nice equipment does not make the game less fun?

And, after Act 2 the writing has made me cringe line after line. It wasn't good in Act 1 and 2 but at least it was bearable. The writing has actually started to hinder my enjoyment :(

The checkpoint system in this game is truly flawed... god damn.

Checkpointing into the middle of a fight is always bizarre.

So, who is finding that using the AH to buy nice equipment does not make the game less fun?

I use the AH all the time. I don't see how it makes the game less fun. Improving survivability never makes the game less fun.

Yeah your right, LoD made the game truly good. But i just feel for a game that has been in development so long there could have been more content imo...

But heck yeah a Coliseum boss rush mode would be friggin awesome.

I find it more fun. Its not like I am gearing up my character with everything from the AH. A few weapons here and there will do wonders for your progress, which helps you find the awesome stuff yourself.

I would seriously love them to bring back Runewords and Skulls for socketing etc. Maybe some class specific items that we can use to put into weapons to give them stats and effects.

PvP is coming but I would like to see some co-op focused modes. Maybe in the Expansion or maybe just as a free update. Boss Rush, Survival Mode or Endless Tower kind of thing with Leaderboards, plenty they could do to make people play the game more! I just hope we don't have to wait years for it to come out.

Totally forgot to join General chat again just now, first time playing today. Disconnected within 5 minutes. Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.

I love it. As I said before I played D2 back when I had shit computers and worse Internet connection. I never got good items, and so I could never really trade. I think I only ever had one SOJ. So now with my own drops and the AH it's been nice feeling like I can be awesome. An D2 was always overpowered of you kept even goo blue stuf for your characters, and most people got rushed through everything, so I don't see how access to an extensive trading system like the AH ruin things. D2 was ruined when you needed to get into the dupe economy of SOJs in order to get anything that wasn't ass.

Does it annoy anyone else that you will go through all this effort to clear a area and fill out the map only to return and its all greyed out again. Come on man reward me for my progress!

Not mine.

Its awesome. Started hell and my 150dps fists werent looking so good. Bought 230+dps fists for 25k each :)

EDIT: ^^^^ god dammit I need more money.

How is latency for everyone on the East coast US? I hate to harp on this but I'm still getting 200-300+ms ping, is this what everyone else is still seeing today? I want to sure it's not something on my end.

Or we could just have the AH since people are going to trade items anyway. Personally I've gotten so much loot that I can't use so I'm trying to offload it to the AH and get some gear for myself.

Randomly generated areas bro

Mmhmm!

You should put no effort into "filling out the map" :)

The Auction House is almost guaranteed to get a revamp at some point. Functionality is way too limited at the moment. You can't even sort by bid, let alone expiry time.

I was surprised to see this too oO. I looked at the AH just to see what it was about, and all you can do is sort by DPS?!? If you already have the sorting feature programmed for DPS, shouldn't it be the easiest thing in the world to just extend that feature to the other details as well?!?

Just hit level 30 and am trying out the Archon skill...

Combined with my glass cannon approach, I can move from group to group, slaughtering everything in my path like they're nothing. As long as I occasionally hit a large group of peons, the skill just keeps going on and on and on.

Feels good, man. REAL good.

K, i'm new to this game, and i'm just wondering how long it took to get to the highest level in Diablo 2 compared to this one?

Closest I got to cap in D2 was 89 I think. That was out of 99. And it took months and months and months. Here I'll hit cap in less than a week probably.

Yeah level 60 takes around 2-3 days in Diablo 3. Level 99 takes around 4-5 days (if you do it properly) in D2.

my characters are gone, but I hope that's just temporary

anyway, my wizard is in act 1 hell now, and I'm starting to feel a little week next to some of the other classes. Started a monk and found out that he can dish out 140% aoe weapon damage as well with just standard attacks, on top of tons of survivability (even with frost nova and crystal shield and archon form teleport, my wizard dies incredibly fast despite having over 12k hp)

and something else, I've been using Hyrda with various runes ever since I got the spell and I noticed that the poison pools of the venom Hyrda seem to stack on top of another. My Hydra basically took down the act 3 boss alone on nightmare (remarkably fast as well)

Try switching the server, maybe you ended up on the wrong one by accident. It's happened before in this thread.

Btw Yoshi where do you think is the best place to farm gear in Hell with barbarians? I'd have gone with the last dungeon of Act 3 but there's way too many ranged mobs who do nothing but run away from my loving embrace :|

Hell is kicking my ass. Holy crap, trying to figure out what build to focus on to make it less of an issue. It doesn't help that I only have 6k HP as a monk.

In my defense, up till now a high dodge and my healing have held me over pretty well. But now I get one shotted VERY easily. Buying some new equip is first - up to almost 9k hp now. Sacrificed a lot of DPS though, went from 3500 to 3300 :(.

Damn, I found a secret stash of loot in Act 1 (with the tree mini boss) and portaled back to town to unload my inventory but upon returning, everything was gone :(. I actually died for the first time fighting those trees, than I lost the loot.

You bringing a companion along to tank?

Any general wizard tips? I hate my wizard right now. Lvl 39.

What exactly do you hate about it?

6k, really? Level up a few times, every level increase nets you +1 point per vitality around your level, so the jump from 46-47 for example netted me 500+ hp because that was my vitality number around then. Just grind out a few levels on Nightmare and you will have enough health pool.

I'm new to the Diablo series and just playing through a guest pass. I'm having fun, but I'm finding the game mind-numbingly easy.
Anyways, what happens when you reach the level cap? Just keep trying to beat the game at higher difficulties? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question, but I'm just wondering about the replayability of the game. Are there many changes to the game in higher difficulties?

I love the way randomization is handled in this game. How a field may or may not have a dungeon even appear. Makes exploring even on repeated plays so awesome and fresh.

Also the events not always appearing is great. Always something to do.

Yeah, a few times I've logged back into a reset map and decided to go over it again, and pretty much always had new stuff happening.

You cant even imagine. They are not really higher difficulties, but new games.
Enemy levels are around 30 on nightmare, 45+ on hell and 60+ on inferno. More hp, more damage, etc.

But that is not the fun part. Do you see those special mobs? Blue/Yellow? Well, on normal, they have one modifier. On nightmare, two. On hell? Three. On Inferno: four. Good luck fighting a Jailer/Vortex/Waller/Vampiric group of Dervishes, for example :P

6k hp and you got to hell? MONKS CHEAT!
I have to run with almost 40k to survive the later acts :|

That doesn't sound too bad... try Vortex Frozen Desecrator Arcane.

Love it. But stop using swords, you need axes.

I was dual wielding axes for a long time, but then I realized I got 15% more DPS or something with weaponmaster if I used swords. Switched to a spear for a while because it doubled my DPS too...i'll go back to axes once I find a couple of good ones. Might look for some on the auction house today
