I have a slow-centric build at the moment. You can check it our here:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bRXVlc!abc!ZZZbaZ

Probably not ideal, but it's fairly good for not having all the runes unlocked yet. It's got a bit of synergy. Personally I think the Lighting Ball Elemental Arrow is kind of weak in comparison to the Frost Arrow I'm using, which is also good for single targets.

I was doing a sort of kooky thing before with cluster arrow as the primary hatred spender, which is kind of interesting, but won't really be viable at least until you take the passive that reduces the cost. It had super high concentrated AoE (also great for single target) burst damage though.

So many viable builds...

I'm using Bola (electric shock) as primary and Impale as secondary (Impact). Keeps enemies stunned so I can run away if I have to. My primary hatred spending is still multi-shot which I have on R. W is always vault and Q and E whatever I feel like. Right now its ferrets/sentry (at level 45)

My Wizard looks like Sub Zero. I think that is cool.

Ashodin, Melee Demon Hunter
Level 36, NIGHTMARE MODE Act 1, Skeleton King down

Going to work again. This time was awesome, Skeleton King I just tanked up in his face and he never really got me low except when he teleported away from me a couple times. That's what health pots are for!

Shadow Power is ridiculously awesome with my build. I never die. Ever!

I'm level 11 right now. Will it be possible to raise the difficulty of the game later? It's okay for now, but I don't want to have to start a whole new character and lose my progress just to up the challenge.

Also, I haven't played any multiplayer yet. Does the difficulty scale? I'm borderline too easy now, but if it's the same challenge plus one more dude, I feel like it would be straight up boring.

I'm running a demon hunter now and I'm getting demolished by everything if it can get close. My strategy now is basically Bola Shot (Volatile Shot) and Rapid Fire (Withering Fire) if I'm far enough. So all I'm doing is that and if things get too close I Vault/Smoke Screen to get away then I continue.

I think I died once as a monk and that was due to a lag spike in Act III. What were you other DH doing at level 16?

Beat the game on normal just now. Underwhelming as all hell, but that doesn't matter - there are items to be found.

Fuck yeah, just beat last boss on hell on my second character :3

It's so weird to watch people just take the hits. Video games have conditioned me to try to dodge everything lol

I was playing with my brother's Barb earlier going through Act 3 final boss on Normal, he just stood in front of one boss all Hulked Up and kicked his ass while I was dodging and using Healing Mantra. Boss didn't even get out of his throne area LOL

Goddamn, Act 1 beta area is so damn boring after going through Act 3 and 4. Boring enemies, drab locales, etc. I get hype whenever I see highlighted enemies, at least its something interesting to fight.

dat double post fail

Wholly crap! I just realized that all characters share inventory space! Did not know that.

Also, I encountered a bug where an enemy became invisible. Luckily it was not a strong enemy.

Is there a button to highlight all objects on screen that can be interacted with?

Someone please explain to me how the queues work. I went to the auction house on my Asia server witch doctor, then tried to get back in to the game and was put in a 21 minute queue. After the 21 minutes were up, instead of putting me in the game, it redoes my queue and says I now have 27 minutes to wait. WTF.

How does that work?

Madness!

I still love my one-handed crossbows too much tho.

Finally got a random drop Rare that owned my Wand + high int shield combo:

I went from doing around 1000 base damage (~1400 with Magic Weapon) to doing a little over 2,000 base damage (~2,500 with magic weapon) and critting at 5,000. I'm now lolling through Nightmare. Doing 2,000 base damage with a Wizard feels like cheating.

Hydras are OP. Arcane orb is OP (with this weapon in particular). Magic weapon makes everything OP.

I'm level 37 on my wizard, just started act II on nightmare, it's kinda kicking my ass. Not quite sure what to do for a build anymore. Any ideas?

Hey guys, is there a way to quickly move through NPC text conversations?

Whenever you talk to someone, you can speed through the convo by clicking the X on the text box that pops up... Surely there must be a key that will do this without having to click the X a million times?

Way of the Hundred Fists w/ Fists of Fury Rune + Exploding Palm w/ Essence Burn = EXPLODING GOODNESS! Finally a satisfying melee setup that doesn't involve Cyclone Strike and Crippling Wave.

wow, im lv28 and only have half the STR you do. did you buy all your equipment on the AH?

I have a similar set up. However, at around 29-30 or so I had about 150dps with my Barb. Then I started crafting and made these:

If you have the Black Smith at level 4 you can make master bastard swords. It will cost a bit, though, to level him and then craft the weapons. The AH may be cheaper in the long run if you don't plan to ever level your crafters.

Just beat normal as a Wizard. Using the arcane hydra and meteor I was able to destroy all the bosses in act 3 and 4. I have poor dps and health compared to some of you as I have been relying on drops for equipment so it is nice to be able to click and run using meteor unlike many of the other skills that hold you in place while doing damage.

Finishing stats, and definitely not the mix of abilities I was using all game. Found Teleport invaluable in the final encounter, having never used it before. My DPS is 460 or so, but it's the 550 or whatever displayed with the Magic Sword buff up. Damn, huge buff. I'm stupid for not using it more all game.

ugh, the image quality of this screengrab is ass...goddamn Paint. It's all I have on this rig, lol.

The Caltraps man, they are staple for DH in Normals IMO. Just lay it out and start peppering opponents with Bola and Rapid Fire at long range. When they get close Vault away and start the cycle while they are stuck in your traps. I also have Grenades that generate Hate really fast. Chakram (especially with Double rune) is also good if you want to use it instead of Rapid Fire, better AOE but less focused DPS.

I use Rapid Fire with Webbed rune that snares them as it fires. Basically fire off a round of Rapid Fire which slows them down, start shooting Bolas and by the time they get close they are either dead, about dead or stuck in my trap or I got enough Hate generated to start another volley of Rapid Fire .

Make a combo of Preparation and Shadow Power + Discipline and Critical gaining passives. Shadow Power in particular is DH's best move that will only get better as the game becomes harder.

IMO switch out either Vault or SS you only need one early one. You can also invest in more AOE type moves like Chakram instead of RF.

Everyone's in such a rush to move onto the higher difficulty levels. I feel like I'm the only one who wants to try other classes out! lol

Normal mode is fine the first time, but its simply too slow for me to be that interested in jumping right back in to a new character when I know it won't really be that exciting until I hit at least Nightmare again.

Damnit. I just killed b
elial
and after picking up all the loot and triggering the cut scene by clicking the
soul
, I get a network error message about a mintute into it. I come back and the
soul
is sitting there waiting for me to trigger the cut scene, but all my loot is gone.

This happened to me last night lost atleast two rares.

I've been running into a lot of fellow monks using a 1h+shield combo and I'm not sure why? Am I missing something? It seems that if you wanna play tanky monk, dual wielding would work better. With the +15% dodge passive for dual wielding, you can gain defense without sacrificing damage. At least it's been working fine for me in Nightmare so far.

Lol my monk just hit level 50. Opened up my act three for the final 2-3 quests and a random barb showed up and we did rather well.

Then two other randoms finally showed up at the start of act 4.

So I was happily dual wielding with a dps of under 1400...then equipped a shield and it went up to 1900 or so.

Wtf.

Wow. My game just totally screwed up on me. I was in a game fighting a boss then everything just stops moving. I can still talk, message friends and whatever but I can't attack. I couldn't even leave the game or hit "exit diablo 3". I had to alt-f4 to close it :\

Finished up my solo run of normal today. Had about 220k Gold, ended with some 3.5k HP and 450DPS.

So I started nightmare and decided to upgrade myself. 680DPS, about 900 with Magic weapon buff, 9.5k HP. All for about 50k.
