Gay and Bisexual thread |OT2|Bears and Twinks and Otters. Oh My!

Most of the girls I've been with are pretty selfish. They want all the attention to themselves, and as a bf you have to be there to hear all kind of stuff about them, caring for them. If you don't do it then you'll be the bad guy...and yet they are completely disinterested when you want to share something or have a problem or anything. Ugh. Don't know if I've just had bad luck.

I know stereotypes and generalizations are bad but all women are crazy, absolutely insane. I always tell my straight friends how lucky I feel sometimes, specially after they tell me their problems with their women, and they all have them, absolutely all of them.

I really don't believe is the same with guys but I haven't dated at all so I wouldn't know, however from my very limited circle of gay acquaintances they all seem pretty relaxed in their relationships, specially compared to women.

I need a pep-talk. Preferably from an experienced old soul. Who's up to the task? Nothing too complicated, I promise.

Judging by the Skype chat, some gay guys are pretty crazy too. :p

I don't think I'm crazy but I'll wait for hormones first.

I am not envious in the least. Gambare!

Some guys are crazy, sure. But it's little league compared to what women can do.

You can do it champer! With a little motivation and willpower you can accomplish anything!

What's happened?

Never posted in the old thread, so hello Gay-gaf !

I'm French, soon to be 40 ( middle life crisis activated ) and partnered for 8 years with a cute bear. I like many types of men, but in the end it's the smile and cute face that makes me swoon ( facial hair is a big turn-on, too but I can do without ).

I'm currently wondering if our new president (bye Sarkozy, your homophobic government will not be missed) will makes his promises about Gay marriage and equality come true... It's still a bit early to tell.

I've never seen this in a girl I've even been slightly (as a person, of course... I'm up there on the Kinsley scale) attracted to.

However, I have seen plenty of otherwise-attractive twinks who decide to exhibit qualities they believe are stereotypical of women.

AKA acting like entitled assholes. That's not a quality inherent to women; it's a quality the mass media likes to portray women as, making them out to be catty, entitled, and completely disinterested sexually, because God forbid a woman actually enjoy sex. It is, unfortunately, often emulated by otherwise attractive (but usually incredibly unintelligent) effeminate males attempting to emulate their idea of a "woman" as best they can.

I also unfortunately find this sort of quality in transwomen a lot too. =\ I wish people would, as a whole, behave as themselves instead of behaving as selfish stock characters in bad romantic comedies.

I don't think I'm crazy but I'll wait for hormones first.

Hormones are fucking magic.

I have no idea what you look like now, but I've seen even testosterone-addled bodybuilding types turn into passable biological women. It's incredible.

You will be pleased with the result, and as a trans-curious male, count me as slightly jealous.

Also, enough of the sexist bullshit going on in this thread, women aren't in any way uniquely crazy. It's behaving to societal expectations that make people act the way they do.

First off, thanks for the encouraging words, lol. But I was hoping for a one-on-one with any of the available gurus.

I'm not a guru either but if I'd be happy to listen to your problem and I'm sure most people in this thread would too. So shoot either me or someone else on this thread a PM.

Sheer curiosity here, but...

Otter:Bear::Twink:???

Otter (Fitness & borrowed gay slang): Anyone with a lean swimmer's physique. "Ottermode".
Otter (Really old gay slang, nobody uses it anymore): Hairy, smaller-framed gay dude, usually with a 'lil belly.

Bear: Hairy, large (either muscular or fat) gay guy.

Twink: Small, hairless, young, usually promiscuous and feminine gay male

Or you can read this as a furry-GAF thread and laugh your ass off, like I am.

Otter:Bear::Twink:???

terms to describe the different body types of men.

Twink = young, hairless, skinny
Bear = hairy, older, muscular or even fat
Otter = younger, smaller guy who is also hairy

At least, that's my understanding of it.

With all this Bear and Otter talk, this pic seems relevant to the topic lol.

I hate that it tries to classify a chaser as a certain body type. A chaser is simply someone who likes chubs cubs or bears regardless of his own body type.

The other thread was barely relationships only. I figured a catch all thread was better than being so closed topic.

I know. I was happy to see the thread evolve in that direction, mostly because the circumstances leading to the last gay thread's closing was pretty shameful. The mod team cravenly caved to the bigots- the gay thread had been an OT staple for a long time, then other minorities started up their own threads. The black thread was particularly active, but there were also hispanic, asian threads, etc. Eventually someone decided to make a white thread, a shitstorm broke out, and rather than articulate a principled and thoughtful moderation policy, the moderation team just axed all the ethnicity/sexuality related threads. The mod team did allow the queers to start a "relationship" thread and the blacks to create a "culture" thread, which, surprising no one, eventually turned into catch-all threads. Unfortuately, the discontinuty in thread population and discussion squandered a good deal of the social capital in these threads, or to put it another way, the community just wasn't quite the same after the change. Yes, I'm still bitter.

The fig leaf for their bowing to the worst elements of the community was a fear over the development of megathreads that would crowd out the front page of OT. A reasonable concern, since there were about five of them on the OT thread at all times around when the shitstorm stated (though no one seemed to consider axing the sports threads for some reason). If that's still the concern, I'm still not sure why we're not community-side, but I guess I don't really care.

On an unrelated note, my general experience as a bi guy is that most of the "oh women so crazy" stuff is half motivated by misogyny, half "everyone is a little crazy in relationships and you just don't notice it on your side of the fence." My relationships with guys haven't been any more uncomplicated than mine with women.

*pretends that her body type is Goldilocks and not one of the other ones...*

I'm sort of jokingly sexist towards women. Anything sexist I say is either hyperbole or just a joke.

The overlap you find in some places is pretty amusing.

Hah, thanks.

SINCE YOU'RE HERE! *drops in from the ceiling*

Why isn't this (and the Magic thread) in community like the other OT communities? It's really odd.

Congratulations! What's her name?

like any other self respecting gay I've dug up Judy Garland's dead corpse and decided to marry her.

Also, I only really call people I like fags or faggots. In fact many people here wanted to call the thread "FAGG|OT|"

If I hear "gay" to describe something stupid (and "fag"/"faggot") coming from someone's mouth, I immediately lose interest in anything they have to say and want nothing to do with them. Even more so if you know them or are acquainted, since it can be disappointing.

I personally think it depends on tone and intention.

Well, if we're going to be classy . . . NeoFAG | Do you BELIEVE in life after love?

edit: So you never call anyone a fag.

Try to interpret the tone and intention of the following. 8-|

You are so gay i_am_ben.

Doesn't everything? I've just never been a fan. The more casual it sounds, the worse it comes off to me.

Then again, I also lose interest in people that inject foul language when speaking normally. I've always believed that one could get their point across without having to resort to foul language, but maybe that's just me.

Oh, but believe me, I say a lot of bad words--especially when gaming/gaming with friends. Insults everywhere. It goes back to the tone and intention of the words.

Yep.

Context does matter*. It matters who is saying it, what their relationship is to you, how it is said, etc.

*
And no, if you're just using it as an insult or to equate it with "dumb" or "stupid", context does not matter. Stop trying that argument. Augh.

Yuuuuuuup. Pretty much this, because no one ever says it in a 'funny' way, and it's almost always in a 'that's so gay' and 'what a fag(got)' way, so I just sort of shut down the conversation and peace out.
