I'll be in for the films I can stream through Netflix or Hulu Plus; unfortunately, Touch of Evil is not one of those films.
What if we alternate with contemporary and classic stuff? Like, something Pre-80s one week, post-80s the next. I dunno, just spitballing ideas here.

We could really have a giant rotation of eras/genres/styles..ect
The options are endless for such a thing really.
A whole month to genre breaking films would be awesome or even if there were like a pack of films (3 at most) that had intertwining themes going through them all.
im in but we need structure. Like we cant just shout out movies we need one person in charge each week and a list of people involved so we know who is next. Stuff like that. Someone get on that, im too busy with a newborn to do all that right now.
Why don't the OP have some kind of system where here, he will list 5 movies that he want us to choose which one of them should be shown for next week. From here we can put from highest to lowest which one should be shown for next week. Once the movie is agree on within a certain amount of days, the top movie will be shown for next week while the other 4 will put back in this big list of movies the OP is interested.
The last film club died quickly because the choosen films were ones that most people already knew. To avoid that happening again i think it would be nice if there was an alternative to choose from each week. A film that is similarely themed but more obscure. I think it would keep more people interested to participate especialy the ones who have already seen a lot of films.
Hmm....then we need to open up the movie list not only English movie but also other language and also maybe animation type movie. Don't care if the movie is bad or great for me as it will help us to understand why the movie is great or what improving is needed for the bad movie.
Some of the scenes with Orson Wells in that movie, I just can't stop laughing. A lot of moments where the camera is doing a close up on his face and he's sweating fucking bullets.
Interesting idea.
It seems to me like there should be a date when people talk about the flick though. Like, since it is week one, say "At the end of this many days, we'll discuss it."
It looks like people are just saying that they will comment on it in a couple days or whenever, but if people are just posting whenever, then it gets hard for random people to check in on the thread. Unless everyone's posts are nothing but spoilers for 50-year-old movies.
Just an idea. Wanted to post in here instead of shitting up the new thread.
I just went through this list. I hate pretentious lists like this. 250+ spots before a film from 00's and like maybe 2 films from the 90s within that 250.
I know I'm on the opposite spectrum of this list as I know I wouldn't enjoy a good chunk of those movies listed, but a good list needs to have a balance between my extreme and their extreme.
I used to think like you years ago. But i've seen around 400 films from that list by now and the only stinkers that i've encountered are In the Mood for Love and Crouching Tiger which isn't even the fault of the films but my personal dislike of Chinese cinema.
that's a very valid point, let's say that the film in picked on Sunday and the discussion can start on Wednesday.
sounds like a tight schedule to get a movie that is quite possibly very obscure and then watch it.
but sadly I have no better Idea.
If it were legal I'd just stream all of these movies on Justin.tv or something since I'll probably have most of them...But I don't think it would be.
I'm not a big fan of Crouching Tiger either but what didn't you like about In the Mood for Love?
