So in some games I see some dungeons and some games I dont. Are there class specific dungeons or is it just random? I'm kind of a completionist and I look all around but it seems I've missed books and dungeons and conversations...

Non main quest dungeons are randomized every time you play. For example there are five different versions of the Defiled Crypt, but you'll only ever see two random ones + the one with the crown in any given game.

hey guys is this amu worth buying multiples of and selling on AH?
uMsvs.jpg

Eh. Not really.

Also, I'm level 54 and I'm still using a rare amulet with lvl23 req and haven't found anything better.

are there any dodge modifications for higher difficulties like there are for lifesteal? I'm almost at 50% on Nightmare already and I somehow doubt that it stays the way.

As for monk builds, I'm only at the end of Nightmare but for what it's worth my character is a powerhouse right now. What you should definitely do is build up one resistance, then pick One With Everything. Add Seize the Initiative to the mix and you are pretty much as tanky as it gets. For offense, I use Crippling Wave (+Mangle) for 143% aoe weapon damage that also weakens and slows your enemies. Funnily enough I've found that using secondary attack abilities actually decrease my damage output. Breath of Heaven (+Circle of Life) for your first heal, Serenity (+Peaceful Repose(not sure how useful the heal is later on)) as a panic button. Mantra of Evasion + the extra dodge chance from the dual wielding passive, again I'm not sure how viable this is for hell.

I can't play the game anymore. It will randomly start to dc (everything stops moving but me, and I can't use abilities) then end up dead or low health when the dc stops. I checked my internet speed and the ping, everything looks normal. I'm tired of paying for repairs and getting hardly anywhere because I have to play segments over and over (though I enjoy getting more shots at the champs and elites).

It's just starting to piss me off, I just want to make some solo progress, and even if I wanted to co op I cant because I'd mess up their game.

It thinks it's drawing too much power so it's turning down the CPU and video clock speeds. Look in the control panel under power and set it to optimized for performance when plugged in.

If it's an nvidia chipset you might need to look in the nvidia control panel for something called powermizer as well.

I don't have the powermizer thing (appears to be an Nvidia feature only for notebooks?) but I kept my power plugged in, removed the battery and changed the high performance settings to run at 100% when plugged in. Haven't seen the issue happen again so I thank you a whole lot, maharg. <3

I'm playing with another guy in Act 2 Nigthmare. He has been dead for 20 minutes and won't resurrect. Whether he's AFK or actually dead I don't know.

So much rage, I have to finish the quest on my own. I know it's just a game but I'm angry.

Blizzard Match Making. Its for the better. My partner from last night came on and we cleared the rest of act 3 in about 4 minutes including the boss.

Compared to my last one where it took something like 30-40 minutes to get to the room before the Spider girl.

An unholy pact attatched his real world life force to his character in game. His soul has been reaped and is trying to return to his body, but is being blocked by Error 37.

You shouldn't need to remove the battery, the settings change and keeping it plugged in should be enough. If you want to play diablo really badly while not near an outlet you can turn it to optimize for performance on battery too, but it'll probably drain it in like 10 minutes.

I can not believe how cheap some people sell shit for on the AH. I bought a new quiver, ring and 2H crossbow and my DPS/Dex increased soooo much, all for around 9k lol.

People just want to get rid of shit. Selling it on the cheap is still netting a lot more than in-game sells, and virtually guarantees the auction will go quick. I sell stuff for cheap all the time.

Some people really don't observe the stats of Rares closely. They just look at the big number, count the number of modifiers and put it up for sale based off of that.

Or they have better equipment and they got a lot of equally good rares lying around and need to get rid of the stuff fast.

I really only use my laptop plugged in most of the time, so the battery is a bit useless staying inside the computer. :s

I've got another question, though. The Nvidia inspector program says that my GPU is at 66 degrees C. Can I overclock it a bit, or would I danger the GPU?

Yeah, I sell all my stuff for 1.5 - 2k each. I'd sell for even less but I don't think many people search the 1k auto-buy auctions. (Equipment between lv. 18 - 27)

I'm starting Act II leveling my second toon (Monk) if anyone wants to join feel free to add me.

Would be nice having some GAFfers instead of these randoms.

Battletag: Nekrono#1620

What do gaffers think of the future of this game? Does it have long term play ability as it stands. People are going insane on the Battlenet boards so thought I would ask here.

I am lvl 10 after 2 nights and enjoying playing it.

I feel like this is a really dumb question, but here it is anyways:

Is there a way to compare stats for what I want to equip in my offhand against what I already have equipped? Every time I hover over a weapon it compares against my main hand only, and I feel like I'm missing something on how to switch that.

There's definitely work to be done on blizzard's end, but it's not the end of the world that people are making it out to be. I expect some itemization balancing in the near future, and some tuning of elites in harder difficulties. If they can fix those issues i think there will be plenty of longevity

The limit of 10 and the length of auctions drives prices down. If you set the price too high, you're stuck with that slot being taken up for 2 days. You're better off selling a larger volume of stuff cheaply, than having to go to vendors because your auction slots aren't being freed.

I think that the AH pretty kills any longevity the game might have had. It trivializes the "loot whoring" aspect of the game. Gold is extremely easy to acquire and you can buy the best gear on the AH. So, instead of playing the actual game for loot, you just buy it on the AH.

I think I got lucky at the AH today. It said '2 days left' in the auction. Normally it says 1D 23H when I spot these things.

All for 35K gold.

There are some obstacles to the sort of longevity its predecessors enjoyed. I'm sure Blizzard is determined to see it done.

People may stop playing if they don't respond to some of these issues quickly enough...but many of them will be back for the expansion, and they'll surely have these problems sorted by then. I'm not worried about it dying an early death.

Put the offhand in the main hand. I do that for rings too.

Thats only because people dont have a good handle on what things are worth yet. If something is actually extremely powerful, it should be priced accordingly. Currently it isnt, and even if it were the buyers may not understand what makes the item good and wouldnt want to pay for it (or have the money)

I just want them to make Toad of Hugeness not useless against bosses. Give it tongue lash damage attack or something instead of having it sit there and do nothing.

Hold ALT while comparing items. It actually tells you this in the inventory UI but nobody sees it. I only saw it today.

Maybe we just have to wait for the market to stabilize itself. But I still think that the offer will exceed the demand. The AH is the easiest way to acquire gear. It removes any "progression" since everything is available from the get-go.

It really killed the game for me.

ok, followed a Gaffer's advice and turned on AA and switched to Windowed Fullscreen and it actually looks better. The crispness without the jaggies.

Got a yellow drop off of the butcher in hell. Holy fuck. That's the first yellow I've gotten off a boss since normal.

It sucks.

Game is really good. Really really good. But it has some big problems that are hard to ignore. Some can be patched, and probably will be. But others will probably remain. The existence of the auction house being one of them. I don't see how it can exist in any form without taking something away from the game. It won't be going anywhere, though, because it's essentially a microtransaction scheme in disguise, and Blizzard stands to make a lot of money from it.

Diablo 3 probably won't replicate the longevity of Diablo 2, but the game is still super-awesome and a lot of people are just overreacting. Like usual.

Yeah, basically. We have no sense of value yet, really, so the economy isn't even there. Is 10k right? 20k? 5k? 50k? I'm honestly not helping at all since most my items I put up are for around "Did I make more money than if I had sold it to a vendor?" price. I imagine that's the same for nearly everyone else.

Well that's part of the problem. a yellow Unique with great stats sells to the NPC for less than 500 gold. I guess they did that to encourage people to use the AH, but it really encourages the prices to plummet for sellers.
