I beat the game last night on normal with my monk. I found that Act III and IV weren't as hard as I and II especially the bosses. I died a few more times in the first 2 acts, some of them were due to lag when it would freeze then I'd be dead. I do have some pretty sweet things and over 4000 hit points plus things that give me + life with each hit and monster kill. I know it gets harder with nightmare mode but did anyone else think the same or is that just how the game is. Either way I still loved it and it was fun and I'm going to keep playing and start a new character.

Basically, Blizzard didn't make a game, they started a new economy--essentially a new country.

People playing the game are citizens of this new economy who paid $60 for citizenship. You will be be taxed when you use the RMAH.

The point is for you to rush to inferno, use the RMAH to gear up (remember: You rushed to inferno, so you don't have any gold or equipment, so you're forced to use the RMAH to get your gear). Now that you're geared up, you use the RMAH to sell items and make blizzard money.

If you're having fun, great.

By the time you finish inferno you have played for hundreds of hours and only paid $60. Seems like a pretty damn good deal to me.

Does anyone have any decent Monk builds you could post? On act I hell right now but I am getting constantly destroyed by elites unless I stack my healing buffs/spells which make it a long hard grind :(.

Pretty much what I used to clear through hell. With enough dodge (was around 48%) and increased attack speed you can generate spirit and heal yourself by spamming Mantra of Evasion or Sweeping Wind.

Oh man.... when this game released, I went to 8 or so different stores, looking for a CE. My girlfriend did 5 stores to look for it.
Today, 9 days after release a friend of mine who had no interest at all in this game, decided to get it after all. Walks into one store, and comes home with a CE....
FFFUUUUUU!

I'm not sure how much this impacts my wizard. I feel a little screwed because Force Armor was the only thing allowing me to make progress in Act 2 Inferno, and I don't have all the Act 3/4 items that everybody else seems to.

But I also have 20k life, so maybe that's enough that Force Armor will continue to work the right way, although I suppose I won't be able to tank the Act 2 boss.

Finally finished normal yesterday, and got started on nightmare where many of my friends are. It's a lot more fun with three other people. Running 2 DH, a monk, and a barbarian, and we're tearing everything apart. Definitely gotta play on my desktop, as the game slows down a fair bit with everyone running around blasting stuff, and monsters everywhere. Time to get on that loot treadmill with a vengeance! :p

It's diablo 2 with a more interesting economy and better gameplay. Basically the only thing missing is interesting fixed items

Not to me it's not.

D2 had a much more interesting economy because it relied on community and bartering. That was actually fun. I enjoyed it and met a lot of good people through the game due to the economy.

While I didn't enjoy stat points or pumping up skills in and of themselves, I found the actual '15 seconds of fun' in D2 to be no different than this.

I wouldn't say the only thing missing is interesting fixed items, I'd say the D3 item system is HORRIBLE and yet, in a loot game, it's the ONLY reason to keep playing.

This game is Borderlands bad with items. Ya, Borderlands, but with an AH.

Surprising no one who played the Beta, Mac performance of Diablo 3 is still crappy.

And I'm not talking about a notebook from 2008 trying to run the game. I have a solid iMac with specs at near "Recommended" and I still have to run at 720p with everything low or off to get framerates that approach 30fps. *sigh*

I think tonight I'm going to download the Windows client & play in my Boot Camp Windows.

Does anyone have recommended settings for iMacs?

Report back the results please, as I am in a similar situation.

The problem with Diablo III on normal difficulty is that it's boring
It's linear as hell, and loot is a joke. It's like when everyone would praise Bethesda for Oblivion's ability to explore hundreds of different dungeons, when all of them were actually pretty empty and your loot would largely be paint brushes and various other bits of junk. Only worse because all that D3 offers is the dungeon crawl and the promise of good loot.

I wish I could choose my difficulty from the start, really struggling to get the motivation to play the game at all

Lol talking about gold I just connected in game and I have sold for 500k gold...
Some nice items but one very bad sold at 120k.. Oo
You lost a lot of gold with the AH when the number go up... 30% tax hit hard. ;P

Did they nerf the Smoke Screen?

Something doesn't feel right on it. I moused over the stats and they look the same but it's definitely different. It feels shorter in duration even with the longer duration smoke screen on. I noticed this while playing Nightmare, as soon as I turned on SS it didn't take long for the enemies to start attacking me again.

You can at least skip difficulties though you'll need to grind to get the minimum level requirements (25 for NM, 50 for Hell, 60 for Inferno).

1s duration (1.5s with the rune) and a 3s cooldown. Tooltip does not reflect this fix.

Here's the rest of the fixes.

Not sure if this has been addressed or not (i know there's displeasure with the quality of loot etc) but has anybody got any set items to drop? I haven't seen a single one in 40 levels. Are they supposed to drop at a certain difficulty or have I just been unlucky.

As an aside, is there any loot that grants you special skill bonuses outside of (for example) +5 rage or some such? Something unique that boosts a particular skill? Loot feels very conservative and (dare i say it) boring to me, but again maybe the rng hates me heh.

It's 1.5 seconds now. Pretty huge nerf tbh.

Edit: Fixed for accuracy.

so why didnt they nerf barbs earthquake that skill is overpowered to shit and will kill any boss very quick if you use the stun skill with it (the stun skill stuns every boss even diablo )

I wonder why they didn't update the tooltip. Is it a localization issue or something?

I haven't seen a set and only grabbed one legendary on ACT I hell. I think they increased the rarity of the top tiers of items to help with the RMAH.

I've yet to see a single set item.

This may be bordering on sacrilegious, but I think I'm to the point where I don't even look at the loot I pick up anymore - it just all goes straight to the vendor. Sure, there might be something somewhat interesting in there, but it's not worth having to mouse over every piece you pick up just to check the stats. For one, it's a time sink. For two, it's depressing.

Nope. Sell it all and take your money to the AH. Done and done.

Oh, I'm not expecting Diablo III out of it, but a colorful sidestep to Diablo II is where my hopes lie.

I just wish they'd have applied a few more modernizations based on what I've read from the beta, I can live with the skill trees, it's just the little things. Not really the thread to discuss it though.

Make the thread I'm sure various types here are read to get the debate on like it needs to be. I love all diablos but considering certain issues that carried over from 2 just in different forms blizzard should be taken to task.

I know a lot vets who do this even some in here have already said it if it's not blue, yellow, or legendary pass on it. Even then once you get a quick look at the stats it's either going to be salvaged or resold once you're in town which you basically just wrote yourself. Nothing wrong with simplifying this process.

AH still doesn't replace grinding and it takes far more time and effort. All this does is let people round off good builds in to the ungodly status and even with it AH I still notice people with crap builds despite wasting their money all on the AH. I don't see this as game breaking because despite the intention to use this as a cheap route you have to deal with the fact the market is filled with these types taking all the good hardware. You'd be lying to most right now if you said that you haven't noticed with an AH search tons of items regardless of class never being sold because the market is filled that are near clones or exact clones.

Because it's on a two minute cool down. 90 seconds if slotted. And because nerfing a class for boss fights is stupid beyond all hell considering their drop table. I'm a barb marching through Hell and in INF and I don't even use EQ. Most barbs don't. But sure, nerf a skill that isn't even utilized by 50% of the player base.

I'm loving this game, been playing like a crack addict since it came out like many of you, but does anyone think that Blizzard painted themselves into a corner balance wise? I feel like each class has a few things they absolutely MUST use (mostly), the second you nerf one of them, or change them, the class immediately drops.

Demon Hunter is a great example. Smoke Screen and Preperation are 100% ABSOLUTE musts. That's not a good thing because they take up 2 whole spots. So you basically have very little wiggle room to customize your build. And at the same time, some people on bliz forums have mentioned that it's a bit OP. And it obviously is, but the problem with it is as soon as you take it away, the class seriously becomes useless and impossible to use in higher difficulties.

I'm sure other classes have similar examples of these things. It's just weird. Something tells me they didn't fully think this out, or they just couldn't think of anything better. Seems like maybe they designed the environments and enemies first, and then built the classes around it, rather than doing both at the same time, or something.

The rune for Smokescreen seems absolutely stupid. Why the hell would I get that rune for only .5 second increase? Stupid...

TBH, SS made me feel like I was cheating most of the time. Especially for reviving people on bosses...

That said, I didn't even start using it until like Act 2 Hell, and it gets nerfed a day later, heh.

Wow, sold bracers with 100 Dex and 40 resist all for 500k. Maybe could've sold them higher since they also had a bit of vitality.
Time to put that gold to work for my barbarian!

I'm still not using the AH, so loot remains a little exciting, but I don't like how my process is basically to look only at the DPS of a weapon or the +Int of anything else.

It's 1 second instead of 2 now, and the rune that lengthens the duration makes it last 1.5 seconds instead of 3. Feels bad man.
