Is the tech for rechargeable AA batteries the same across different brands?

I have a set of Energizer rechargeable AA batteries and the accompanying wall charger, but over the years I've lost almost all the batteries. If I bought a set of, say, Eneloop rechargeable AA's, would they charge in my Energizer wall charger? I don't really see why not but it can't hurt to ask before I throw down the cash for them.

edit: the charger says "only charge NiMH" batteries so as long as they are that kind, regardless of brand, I should be good right?

As long as they are only NiMH, yes.

As long as they are only NiMH, yes.

Indeed but be aware that not all chargers are made equal [sic]. Some are made purely to charge the type and capacity of batteries that they are supplied with. The reason why this is so is because they are designed to charge for a set time only. So if you put in a set of batteries of a different capacity then the charger might over or under charge them. Hopefully the set of batteries you wish to charge is of the same capacity so you will be good to go. You have the type i.e. NiMH sorted so you're half way there :). Check the back of the charger to see if it specifies the capacity of batteries it is designed for and/or google the make/model of the charger to ascertain this.

I've just checked Wikipedia and could have saved myself a lot of typing, heh:

For anyone who regularly uses rechargeable batteries however, I recommend investing in an intelligent charger [check the Wikipedia link for info]. They picture the one I have funnily enough and it has served me very well for Wiimote batteries etc over the years :).

Ah, thanks for this. Maybe I should have just searched the charger model in the first place :D

Looks like the overcharging thing you mentioned is valid for my model, a PDF I just found lists how long to charge batteries of different amperage, and suggests removing them after that amount of time. Certainly explains why on a few occasions I would charge the batteries, leave it in the wall, and then the next day they will only work for an hour or two in my 360/Wii controllers.

Edit: it does have a timer feature that is set for 8.5 hours, which is how long it says it would take to charge a 2500 mAh AA battery.

What's that thing Death is using to countdown in the third panel called?

EDIT: Abacus!

Pleasure :). Sounds like you have enough info now to make using it feasible, even if you have to remove them after a certain time? Not entirely convenient but the batteries should operate better and it will save you a separate purchase.

A question regarding Xbox 360:

If I install a scratched disc in the hard drive (though not badly scratched at all, it has a few), is there a possibility of having slown downs, low frame rate, etc?

How come I all of a sudden can't watch YouTube videos?
The sound plays but the image disappears. Is it Adobe Flash that has somehow stopped working working with my Chrome?

Chrome has Flash built in so you don't need Flash installed. Here's the page about it, check that you don't have any extensions that would mess with YouTube or if your Anti-Virus would mess with it as well. If all else fails, reinstall Chrome to see if the problem is still there.

I had a similar problem. Try turning off advanced hardware acceleration (right click on video and go to setting).

What is the exact origin of this gif?

It has been everywhere on GAF for the last couple of weeks and every time I see it it makes me more curious.

Where the arrow is pointing. What is that part of the body/muscle called? I was commented on mine today, and I workout yes but I thought it was just from how I wear my pants lol

When you quote someone that embedded a picture, how do you make it so that it shows? Mine just parses everything and only shows

I'm going to be doing a 200kkm bike ride over two days and I'd like to track my mileage via GPS app on my iphone called Strava. Anyways, I don't think there's a place to charge my phone, but I'd rather it not drain the battery. Anyone know of any good solutions to have my phone last that long? Any devices I can charge it with with say, AA batteries that doesn't cost 100 bucks?

thanks!

There's a link to a solar charger. It uses solar power to charger AA batteries which can be used to charge your phone. There are others like it so you might want to check reviews, but that's an option as long as you know you'll have sunlight.

What's the point of, during baseball and basketball games, the organ that every few minutes plays a few bars of a random famous song? It's not in response to anything that's happening in the game and it's not long enough to make anyone feel anything, plus it's a freaking organ. So what's the point?

Not showing. Here's an example with that Sonic pic a few posts before this:

See how the image disappears and only shows ? Yeah :([/QUOTE]

I dunno, dude. I've tried all the forum settings that seemed likely, but can't reproduce it. Could it be a browser thing? Do you have any extensions that might do something like that? Greasemonkey, etc?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but...

Is there any way for me to block avatars of certain posters?
Some posters have some scary or disturbing avatars and it makes me feel really... not good when I scroll down and see them. I care about their posts and opinions, I just don't want to see those avatars.

I think you can use Adblock to disable specific images.

Thank you, but it doesn't really work. It blocks the one time the avatar appears, but not other times. I just tried it where a certain avatar appears twice on the same page. The first one gets hidden, but the second time they post, it still shows.

I take it back. It did work. I just had to leave and go back to the thread. Thank you very much. This will make my GAF browsing significantly more enjoyable. Thank you! :)

Ah, there you go, I fixed it. It was Linkification that was breaking it.

Now I need an extension to turn links into hyperlinks that doesn't break it.

Been getting this here and there lately for 10-30 minutes at a time when trying to get onto NeoGAF. Looks like according to post time stamps the actual site isn't going down just my availability to connect.
What does this mean?
I need my GAF 24/7.

What's a good website for film news? I've been subscribed to the /film rss feed for a year or so, but it doesn't seem to cover a lot of stuff, and it has a lot of random content I am not interested in.

Also, a site that is the same but for TV. Although I assume that TV and Film would be covered in one feed.

Reviews would be OK, but I would prefer review round-ups to get general impressions of how films are received. I have some interest in numbers and studio news also, but maybe that is because I just finished watching entourage.

Thanks!

Can someone explain this magic trick to me? I'm guessing it's string, but I'd take it it wouldn't be connected anywhere from his arms

Hey guys,

I ran across this

Σχεδ Ν Γγελος

And I don't have any idea what that means. I'm guessing it's greek? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Oh, lol, for some reason (probably because I'm stupid) I didn't think of google translate. Ha!

Thanks guys :D

(FYI: This was a username I ran across and didn't really know what it meant)

The band is called "Eagles" and not "THE Eagles," right?

I do the webdesign for my friend's music blog, and every post I need to list the band and album. We had this argument last year and he made me put the Eagles. Am I just being too anal? He's an Eagles SUPERFAN which pisses me off even more.

In general with names where "The" is not part of the name, they're still referred to as "the Eagles". Unlike "The Who", for example, where it is part of the name, and so it's capitalised.

yes that makes sense if you are speaking their name in a sentence, but if the post just lists...

ALBUM: BLAH BLAH
ARTIST: BLAH BLAH
SONG: BLAH BLAH

It should just be "Eagles" for artist? He says no. I'm gonna punch his face in.

Looked up on NADA with VIN and it's worth about 18,700, so it seems like a good deal assuming Carfax is checked.

Yep, Carfax is all good. Now I'm doing some mental gymnastics to try and justify the purchase. Haven't had a car payment in 5-6 years and I quite enjoy that.

Well, not to pressure you since I loathe car payments, but you're coming out a full year ahead on depreciation and if you get a smaller term loan (4 years or so), you will stay that way.

There are a ton of Malibus on the road thanks to their fleet status, but there's not a lot of these Malibus on the road.

It's completely loaded, so if you like the car it looks like there is literally nothing else to add to it factory wise.
