Well, finished Nightmare, here is my mans:

Didn't get any really good drops IMO, best thing was a ring that I kept. Got a ton of really valuable stuff in act 1, but very little from 2-4.

Does anyone else think the real money auction house is going to really hurt the current auction house?

It actually helps it by setting a breakeven point where gold exits the economy via crafters at a rate linked to whatever item has the highest EV for crafting.

Without a real money outlet gold inflation would keep on rising since so little of the gold would exit the economy.

Fuck Blizzard. Seriously. I just had a huge argument with a friend over the Inferno issue, which could very well lead to us not talking to each other for days while we played D3 for about 100 hours to get into Inferno so far.

Why does everyone need to be so extreme? He is trying to defend everything the game does. Blizzard fanboys in their forums are the same: "Its not intended for casual players. The devs said you need to grind Act 4 Hell for one month before you'd be able to tackle Inferno. And even then it might take you up to a year to beat it."

What the fuuuuuuuuck. I mean seriously?? How can people defend such an incredibly insulting design decision? They made their highest difficulty this hard, because Blizzard doesnt want you to beat this game on your own. They want to earn money by getting the players to use the RMAH as soon as its available. You are not only paying 50€ to play through this game, but potentially the money that you'll need to spend on the RMAH too. Its like paid DLC to finish the fucking game. This won't get better either. Currently you could grind your way to enough gold to buy super expensive gear in the AH, but people will put those in the RMAH of course. I'd do the same. So it will become even more problematical to get loot without paying real money.

On the other end, despite many of the shortcomings, I had fun with D3 for about 100 hours. But the balance and the obvious greediness by Blizzard will have me bidding Farewell to the game now. Maybe things will look different in a year with countless of balancing patches, but the practices used by Blizzard in this game to generate money are insulting, to say the least.

More people should be mad about the RMAH will drive players to spent further money just to finish the game. Its like the worst paid DLC scheme I have ever seen.
This is fiction and really worse than blind white knighting

How is RMT going to decrease the gold supply? People are going to craft more? I don't see that happening

The truth is that they released it knowing it was far to hard. It was something they only expected the very skilled to finish around launch, and are mainly using it to find things they didn't intend.

Get some good equipment (~1000+ DEX, ~15k+ HP, ~100+ Resists or just stack one resist for One With Everything use). When I was soloing through the end bits of Hell, I was running:

Fist of Thunder > Quickening: I still have >20% Crit so it's better than Way of the Hundred Fist + Spirited Salvo for my Spirit Generation. Use whichever is better to keep your Spirit flowing. Crippling Wave + Concussion is worth thinking about possibly but this build (all Monk builds?) is Spirit starved.

Sweeping Wind > Inner Storm: Honestly? Not as useful as I figured but it helps during those lulls in combat and/or fucking Shielding or Invulnerable Minions. Sweeping Wind is still good, though, just not sure on the Inner Storm part when I can get some +Spirit Regen from equipment.

Mantra of Healing > Circular Breathing: Do not underestimate the value of starting every fight with full Spirit (or at least enough to use a few abilities). If you can get a good +2-3 Spirit Regeneration without this, definitely go for +VIT or Resist rune, whichever gives you more survivability.

Mystic Ally > Air Ally: Adds some good damage and the 2% Chance for +100 Spirit isn't the worst thing in the world. Earth adds general survivability if you'd rather have that instead of the chance of +100 Spirit.

Wave of Light > Explosive Light: This is what I settled on eventually for my damaging Spirit spam and I quite like it. Really useful in that it requires no aiming and does really good damage. The best part? Knockback on everything around you. Great when soloing.

Serenity > Ascension: Eventually this may be changed. Maybe. Eventually. Someday. Probably never.

Passives are Seize the Initiative, Transcendence, and Guardian's Path. I use a 2H Staff with around 1.5 Attacks per second total with all my IAS? Works out pretty well. Some issue when I hit a weird streak of no Spirit somehow (Shielding/Invulnerable, for instance) but otherwise pretty easy so far. That said, I did have a ~380 DPS Staff with 24k HP and ~110-150 for my resists for most of Hell.

Thank you for the information. I'll see how this build does with my current setup [sword and board] in place of the 2 hander

Act II in nightmare now and running a very similar build. Just swap in magic missile as the signature spell and magic weapon as opposed to energy armor.

The entire point of Inferno is that it's absurdly hard. It was billed as such ever since announcement, hell that was the hype behind it.

Well it was a good week. *pours one out for D3 GAF* We are now on par with Blizz official forums.

Anyone else still love the game other than me? ; ;

I love it, and I think they'll fix a lot of the problems in the coming months. And straight up LOL @ people complaining about inferno difficulty. People wanted it hard, they got it hard.

I'm loving it aside from the nu-Blizzard storytelling.

Seriously, what happened to the writing? It's really really bad in this game. I expected so much more from Blizzard.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the game, but the writing is just so disjointed and forced. I hate to generalize, but it feels like MMO dialogue to me.

Level 56 currently farming this quest to 60, 50k per run and i average around 1.5-2 million exp per hour (so around a level an hour) w/ little breaks here and there.

DPS isn't what i want to be but it will do, soon as i hit 60 i am either going to grind the last 4 levels on my hunter (to 60) or start going through hell mode solo then move on to inferno. Might just have to do the Wizard to day and Hunter this weekend since 2 of my RL friends just started playing and they want me to level with them.

Sooooooooooooo, I just logged in to find all of my characters equipment and money completely gone. Even my backup equipment in the stash.

Hacked or Blizzard?

I didn't use Guardian's Path the entire time so it should be fine. Better survivability should also mean you need to spam skills (slightly) less often. It all depends on some of your stats and Monks really do have a lot of options that dictate our builds. I got a really sweet Staff with a base 1.1 Attack Speed so I need IAS% everywhere. I got a lot of Crit% so Quickening is better than Spirited Salvo. I have +110 All Resists so One With Everything isn't super important yet.

If I had better Dodge gear, I'd try an Evasion build. That's my idea for a future Shield Monk build. High Dodge, high Block, and see what happens. More of a group build than solo, though.

I have my complaints but I still sit here at work waiting to get home to make progress. It's still fun to me :x

Also screw the Butcher. May as well roll a dice to progress to the next act.

idk, he's kinda easy. My deaths on him usually come from getting locked due to attack animation glitching after his knockback -> death from charge since I can't dodge.
Also sometimes you just get trollish firepatches or he knocks you into one.

Yes, the whole story was predictable. With a friend I had discussed what the plot could be before we started playing, and it turned out exactly like that. Very disappointed. :(

Sorry to hear. Contact Blizz support asap. They should be able to replace, though it may take a while.

Double trouble Tyrael

I had this happen on my DH when she was undergeared for Act 3 NM. Double Tyrael for some events and even got to keep one of him for the entirety of the Siegebreaker -> Act 3 Boss run. Then I left the game and lost my second meat shield :(

It started with Wrath of the Lich King I think... their fan fiction death of Arthas was the most telling sign of how bad their writing has gotten.

I think Metzen is so rich now he's just surrounded himself with a bunch of yes-men that do his bidding regardless of how trite, predictable and stupid it is.

This picture sums up everything that is wrong with D3 items in one screenshot.

See, I'm okay with predictability.

It's the actual writing and dialogue that's just so unnatural and overall poor. Characters act in very strange and inconsistent ways, or they are completely devoid of personality. It's pretty disappointing in that regard.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but apparently Boneweave Hauberk's block mobs...

12 years, ladies and gentlemen XD

And after betrayal, redemption.

Metzen should get some new material.
At least one
"hero"
from the universe will turn evil and ashen white at some point.

The "good" sides let their arrogance get the best of them.

I think we've got this down pat.

Blizzard storytelling was always of the fan fiction level, only you didn't notice this 15 years ago cause everyone was worse still. I dunno what people are expecting.

I am pretty slow and old but damn i am still BAFFLED at how many people here already finished the game on numerous difficulties with different characters at level 60, i mean it's barely been out a week :(

i fully expect a "lttp: Diablo 3" thread soon... it will go something like "remember when we beat D3 on Normal back then? good times mang..."

that said i just finished it on Normal for the first time and it took me like 20 hours, which is something that usually takes me a month or two nowadays so i think that only shows HOW great the game is :)

Yeah that's the biggest problem. The characters have zero grounding, change at will and are most likely a pop culture reference of some kind.

Wrong. You keep saying things like this that are just plain wrong.

"Blizzard was always like this." "Diablo was always like this." It's really such an empty defense because you are consistently proven wrong time and time again by people who have actually played these other games at length.

Diablo had strong writing and characters... moreso in 1 than in 2. It was minimalist, but it was there if you looked for it. Starcraft had strong, memorable characters.

Here, the story is forcefed to you, and it's simply badly written/voiceacted.

I think most people expect sequels to improve in areas other than graphics (story, skill design, class variety, itemization, multiplayer features, PvP). Which Diablo 3, after 12 years, doesn't do.

Characters in D3 are cool as shit for what it is, the jeweler dude, the scoundrel, the enchantress. Funny. Sorry guys you were expecting something else that Blizzard has never delivered.
