When I started playing Act 1 and 2 I thought to myself, THIS IS GOING TO BE GREAT. But then Act 3 started and I was so disappointed, no dynamic in game play, only mindless battle's on the most boring of settings. Act 4 was perhaps OK but all boss fights felt like a super mario game. And the designers should be fired, Diablo look's like a tranny. And the story was retarded on so many levels.

This is not okay

Diablo looks like a woman who has been distorted and transformed into a monstrous form because, well...he/it possessed a woman.

The reason I disliked Act II was because the randomization was a little out of hand. Randomization is great if the maps are medium-small sized, the issue was that the Act II maps were enormous AND they were random AND you did not get the quest objective arrow until you were very very close to the objective. I think if they would have taken the Act II maps and cut their size in half and then doubled the number of "floors"/checkpoints, then I would not have had as much of an issue with it.

I think randomizing the Act III/IV maps would have been a little difficult given the areas we were fighting in (e.g. going down the tower, the entrance to the next level had to be in the middle.) That said, I wish they somehow fit in more areas for small/random dungeons to spawn to break up the linear-ish maps.

This just made me realize that one thing I think Blizzard did well was to give each act a distinct feel (at least up to act 3, I haven't reached the 4th one yet).

The first act gave off more of a horror vibe, the second seemed to involve more exploration, the third felt like something out of Lord of The Rings.

All the enemies characters are like that. Okay I can see one of them coming down with Dr Claw syndrome.. but it's an epidemic.

This has been coming ever since the Lich King spent all of Wrath stopping just short of declaring "Next time, hero! Next time!" in every single zone. The only people Blizzard has on staff who can write halfway decent characterization aren't allowed anywhere near major lore figures.

I'm pulling my fucking hair out trying to beat Diablo on Hell difficulty. Can another Wizard give me some pointers? I'm sick of farming Azmodan over and over again and I just want to fucking move on and make some more progress. I've been stuck here for 3 days now.

Whoever wrote for Shen is a god damned hero.

What's your damage, HP and skills?

I beat Diablo on the first try in Hell and laughed the entire time.

Yaa, soon 60 with my HC DH ... finally, after those two stupid deaths. But I'll need to level a SC one to know how much damage stuff like the chain of the Act I boss does.

Something that I did like about the writing is that the characters weren't completely oblivious to the predictability of the plot. They saw
Zultan Kulle's inevitable betrayal, that little shit being Belial, Adria being a dickbag, etc.
coming just as early as we did.

Also, the templar and his voice acting were awesome as fuck.

Fucking clownsuit. Nothing has been dyed.

I like that the EU Auction House was down for about a day, meant lots of soon to be expiring, non-buyout auctions were around. Snagged the below for a cool 6000 gold.

I'm in Act 4 on Nightmare, feeling very comfortable hehe.

I love the Templar and the scoundrel.

Act 3 was my favorite Act by far and Act 2 was my least favorite. For me Act 3 was classic and is one of my favorite levels of any game.

This is what I was using on my last attempt. DPS has been buffed by spirit weapon, a little over 28k HP.

Electrocute (Chain Lighting) - never need to use because I'm always running
Ray of Frost (the one with 280%) - highest single-target DPS attack
Magic Weapon (the 15% buff) - DPS increase
Energy Armor (Force Armor) - obvious
Diamond Skin (the one that doubles it) - my "oh shit" escape plan, wish the cooldown was shorter
Hydra (Poison) - this is what I rely on for most of my damage, unfortunately

Glass Cannon - I've played around with not using this, but I'm not sure what to replace it with
Blur - Any increased defense is welcome...
Evocation - Lowers cooldown of Diamon Skin. Again, not sure what to replace with.

The problem is the spirit phase; I just can't survive long enough to inflict any meaningful damage.

Tried that a few times... was much worse.

Hunting for expiring auctions is my guilty pleasure.
I grabbed a fantastic axe for 665 gold the other day because the seller didn't bother to raise the bidding price, and I saw the auction had less than a minute to go.

Sold it off for 35k. Not that much, but it's a ton of fun to flip items like that.

Yeah Act 3 deifinitely felt like LOTR and that was my exact thought when I there great analogy.

This has probably been answered a few times already, but uh, can you actually use melee weapons with a Demon Hunter? There's no melee primary skills, but it still allows you to equip melee crap.

Dammit I finally got the mats to get into the secret lvl but I didn't realize it would cost another 200,000g to run it on NM... Guess it will have to wait till tomorrow.

I don't think any of the spells you're using have lengthy cooldowns, so why are you using the cooldown reduction passive?

You're cutting 1.5 seconds off diamond skin, that's it. Also, I'm not sure if Ray of Frost applies the chilled effect, but if it does, Cold Blooded would be much better than the reducing your armor passive.

you can, but you're only going to be able to use devices (other than evasive fire i guess), discipline abilities and maybe grenades as a hatred generator.

Hmm. How much HP does that translate to?

Are you doing okay avoiding his ground traps?

I'd recommend something that allows you to keep moving against him, so I'd swap out the secondary skill for arcane orb for for good damage while being able to move. I expect that electrocute to be on Piercing orb for the same reason.

Basically, anything that forces you to stand in the same place and cast to get damage is BAD. Don't equip it. Keep the Hydra ward up and keep backpeddaling and shooting the primary and secondary. Don't get caught in his cage and use the diamond skin when you need it. Diablo shouldn't be getting in melee range of you. If he is, run him around those holes on either side of the ground to get separation. then turn and spam primary and secondary until it isn't safe anymore. then drop your Hydras in the path he'll have to move in and start running again.

Let your Hydras be your primary damage dealer. If you play it like I played it, they'll do at least 50% of the damage. Remember: Diablo can't kill the wards, but he can kill you. Let the wards hurt him while you remain at as safe a distance to use your other skills as possible.

Also consider Sparkflint Fimiliar. It gives 12% damage boost. Not sure what your energy armor is doing, but if it's not helping, Sparkflint will give you more damage to all weapons.

One thing I wanna know about boss fights is:

If you're going to copy WoW Boss fight design... why copy vanilla design? They couldn't of come up with anything in atleast one fight that's a bit more unqiue than "Don't stand in fire", or dps race?

You guys should go around with the Scoundrel. He has some amusing banter with Tyrael.

Hell no, he is the essence of style.

Witch Doctor looks naturally awesome with a variety of colors on him. Dude struts around looking dapper like Quetzalcoatl. Mad pimp.

Gotta save something for the expansions!

anyone else dissapointed you cant add more equipment to your mercs? excuse me... followers.

I really don't understand why they went so backwards with the followers from D2:LoD. They made them more powerful and involved characters in D2 for a reason, but in D3 they're just back to their gimpy D2 form + a little bit of dumb plot and banter. Do they even survive in any difficulty above Normal? (other than in the sense they respawn automatically)

I even noticed that their damage output is severely lower than it should be for the items they have equipped. What's up with that?

guys ive never played a diablo game before.

Just beat the skeleton king with that templar. it asked if i wanted to "upgrade" not sure what that meant so i clicked no.

Took the town portal back to tristam - now there are no quests? what is the next step and what do i do next so i can save and go on to the next mission?

I suspect the reasons are similar to the 8 player --> 4 player change. There's just so much happening on the screen...I can't imagine how much more difficult it would be to follow the action with 4 mercs running around, too.

Click on your waypoint, there will be a symbol next to the waypoint you need to use to keep questing.

Thanks. I updated my original post with some more info too. Since using Ray of Frost my Hydra was doing basically all of my damage because I could never stop moving. I'm good at avoiding the cages and never get caught, the problem is the spirit phase where he blinks right up on me while Diamond Armor is on cooldown. I just can't get away from him. Without Force Armor it's easy to get two-shotted so I'll probably keep that...

I haven't tried Arcane Orb yet though, I'll give that a go.

EDIT: This is a stupid question, but how do you cast spells without stopping? I wasn't aware that was even possible. When I cast Arcane Orb my character still stops...
