"We don't want a game where the most effective way to play is to dodge in and out of enemy attacks"

Shit, guess I've been doing it wrong in all those other games for 15 years

Holy shit at this Wizard build/stream...

Aaaand she dies immediately.

RNG-based builds, just what this game needed. We've got RNG-based damage, on top of RNG-based melee-ranged attacks (intentional design), and the cherry on top; RNG-broken-builds.

12 years, ladies and gentlemen.

Yea we can't avoid melee attacks. We should all quit playing right now imo. Personally, I'm going to throw my monitor through my window brb.

It really pisses me off that I've died so many times in this game due to a game design choice that was made for no particular reason at all.

Haha, so in Inferno you will be one shotted by the right enemy and they've designed it so that hits are literally unavoidable. Brilliant.

Seems like they had no idea what they were trying to do with inferno (in regards to making it enjoyable to players). On the other difficulties anything that can 1 hit kill is able to be avoided through movement (arcane beams, ice explosions etc...) but not in inferno. Though why have the focus be on skill or improving your character through leveling when you can have the end game content depend on people using an auction house where you get money from every transaction?

I've beaten God Hand on Die-difficulty without ever using any God-powers.
I've beaten Devil May Cry 3 on DMD.
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls is a fucking joke.
I have a 97 hammerdin non-boosted on HC.
I've beaten all of WoWs vanilla content before any nerfs (besides AQ40)
I've beaten the first three Onimusha games with only Issens.
I've beaten Contra 3 multiple times without dying once.

QUIZ TIME!!!
What does all of the games above have in common that D3 doesn't have?

Can you guess it? You should be able to get it if you use your brain!

ALL OF THE GAMES ABOVE USES PIXEL FUCKING PERFECT GAMEPLAY. YOU DIE, IT'S YOUR FAULT. MELEE SWINGS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HIT YOU FROM 20 YARDS AWAY, YOU SILLY FUCKING COMPANY.
LOL you are just like me except I don't play WoW.

Dat hardcore gamer stats.

Hit detection is pretty crazy in this game but it's to tell in between the lag, occasional frame rate hiccups and actual crazy hit box.

And that DH rare bow makes me want one too.... :(

That's basically my feeling.

Would someone mind re-posting the calculus that is the formula of figuring out what stats contribute to dps and such?

I'm presently baffled that someone has the same Int as me is doing almost 2x the damage.

His 2h weapon is doing 1190 (mine is 990), but that's not the difference.

Is it just the +70% critical damage he's getting from a gem on his weapon? (star emerald) If so, I'm selling my 2h for one with a gem slot RIGHT NOW. I mean, he's critting at over 100k.

I can crit for 130k with one of my skills.

Seems like an interesting build, but I had better results (with a different build, mind you) with Dire Bats, that extra bit of damage seemed worth it to me, especially since Spirit Walk allows you to get close to mobs.

For a while I switched between Pyrogeist and Spined Dart, the latter allows you to get mana back from a safe distance, which is useful if you're not abusing Vision Quest.

Wall of Zombies (Creepers) is good, but Grasp of the Dead was better for me (for slowing mobs down), especially since one mostly uses only one AoE skill. Pile On is just nuts, I'd check it out once you get it.

I have no experience with Blood Ritual, but I think this could be quite an issue later, as usually one will not have too much health.

Might I ask what makes Dire Bats so good? I haven't used it at all.

I can't. He and I are both playing as Wizard. I'm watching a video stream right now, so I can't see everything he has. But the difference...I mean, we have the same level of Intelligence and his damage is 52,000. Mine is like 35,000. His weapon is only 200dps higher than mine.

So it's either the +200 dps, or it's that +70% crit damage increase.

He stops using Frost Nova for some reason. I don't understand why, because it's obviously working.
Everytime the shock pulse crits, one second of frost novas cooldown gets reduced. If you're unlucky, you won't crit enough times to reduce the nova completely. At that point, you're screwed 'cuz it'll be on cooldown.

is this the fastest backslash to a video game in recent history?

*opens inferno live-stream, sees auction house selling marathon*

It's not everytime, everytime you crit it has a chance of reducing the cooldown.

The matchmaking in this game is a joke. Why can't it have been like D2?

I think Bashiok (or another blue) implied they'll work on something eventually to facilitate things like trade games and the like, but that it wasn't as big a priority as making sure matchmaking (which is going to be the large majority of use cases) worked properly.

So...probably with the expansion. :/

... same shit. Random's gonna random

I'd imagine most people aren't doing an Inferno playthrough right now. So, I dunno, I don't think there's much backlash.

It's both. 200 dps increase on a weapon is huge. THat crit bonus is really nice too.

ah yes. the living lightning stun & freeze method.

basically, every item he's wearing is giving him crit/stun and he's using the passive that gives a chance of a second of cool down for each crit. Infinite crits means infinite stun & freeze lock.

But if you get hit once by anything you die.

It's both. 200 dps increase on a weapon is huge. THat crit bonus is really nice too.
How much damage would going from 990 --> 1190 gain me? Or, what part of the +20,000 damage he has on me is being created just with the +200 damage?

I have no clue how the Diablo calculus works. The answer to that question will determine how I value an 1100 damage weapon with a gem socket vs something else.

Holy fucking fuck. You know, I've complained about a lot of the poor design decisions in this game, but this tops them all. This is worse than the stupid itemization, worse than the straightforward stats, worse than Act II. My head is not prepared for how stupid this is.

Nothing you listed bothers me at all. You can dodge spells. This on the other hand bothers me:

OK it doesn't bother me, but it clearly needs to be fixed.
