lol, yes. i've got a heavy cast iron bottle opener that i prop up on W and lean against the keyboard tray for particularly long journeys
Well the patch was supposed to remove the bandit system....... Yet I became a bandit despite being a survivor before the patch anyways.
Ah, I see. My understanding was they just removed the humanity stat from the debug menu and that bandit skins wouldn't be removed until the next patch. Though I thought they might have changed it somehow because I've been stuck as a bandit all week even though I haven't killed any survivors since Sunday or so, so who knows.
Well, that's good to have confirmation at least. Guess it's just ticking up slower than I expected.
Before they removed it from the debug menu, there was one point where I went from something like -2000 back to near full just in the time it took me to cross the map in one play session.
I guess -6000 is a little harder to come back from.
Had my first pvp encounter today. I was leaving Cherno fully stocked for my journey back into the wild when I got shot just outside of town. The hit broke my leg and left me crippled on the ground. I managed to pull out my CZ and zero'd in on the assailants - two players dead ahead up on a mountainside. Rather amazingly I scored kills on both with my first two shots. Unfortunately all this commotion brought in the zeds. My last stand was glorious - all the undead were dispatched. But I bled out on the hillside, unable to access my medical supplies. (Bug?)
I respawned on the far side of Elektro. 15 minutes of running later I made it to my corpse which had already been looted. The bandits bodies had de-spawned as well, even though I could hear flies.
As pissed as I was about going out in such a pathetic manner, I took some smug satisfaction in knowing that I took the other bastards with me. Trying to solo play is just too difficult, I need to meet up with the GAF squad.

this happened to me too.
Nope, player corpses give you the option to "hide" them so other people can't loot them after you, but you'll still hear the flies. So either those bandits beat you back to their own bodies or someone else did and then hid the corpse. Kind of a dick move.
The buzzing flies should go away with the corpse, IMO. At least then you wouldn't keep looking around for something that isn't there.
Oh somehow I missed this post. I knew about this too, but I like to be able to still move my mouse around and look around rather than just running blind. Nice alternative for someone who doesn't have the means to keep a key pressed down, though.

No. Berezino <-> NW airfield <-> Berezino roadtrip: Doable. Lots of hunting stands directly on the way, don't even need a map. The only issue is that you have to huff it up there first. But you know, a knife can work wonders! (Or the Steam interface, I guess, whatever)

Oh yeah, for the autorunners among us: 2xALT -> Freelook toggle
I think activating the Steam interface while holding a key makes that key stuck even when you exit the Steam interface, and it gets unstuck if you press it again; that's most likely what he was referring to. Can't try it now though.

Yeah, that's how it works. I'd be lost without it and it's the only reason why I don't use the beta patch, cause as far as I know there's no way to load the beta patch and dayz through steam.
Oh, well damn! I'm gonna start doing this, then. I manage to lose my bottle opener basically every day.

The saddest moment of my DayZ life. I was the only one whom was trying to have somewhat of a clear conscience. Broken and Wedge are usually my back up in this department(as in they won't let there team die, but they won't go out of their way to murder). But WedgeX has abandoned me lately and it seems Broken i.e. Irish is slowly turning to the dark side. Aj2Good has always been an opportunist so his actions are expected.

Just hold ALT down look around with the mouse and when you release ALT your view snaps back to centre.
Suuucks, I really want to play more DayZ but the really nice weather we're having in the UK is sapping all my desire to play games atm.

Yeah there is! Use a batch2exe converter, add it as an external game to Steam.
But why would you do that when autorunning, toggle freelook is much better in that case.

Oh yeah, I forgot about something that happened earlier today. I made my way up to Berezino, and after being cautious throughout as there were a lot of zombies everywhere, I made my way to the apartment buildings on the northeast side. I find a dead bandit there and they had everything you could want. An alice pack filled with medical supplies, m5, 1911, matches, entrenching kit, knife, compass, etc. Absolutely killer find.
I know lots of zombies are around the building so I lay low a while waiting for them to roam away so I can make my way out. I decide to check the rooftop just to make sure they were heading in the direction I wanted them to, until, oh fuck my run key is stuck. My guy runs off the edge of the building and dies instantly. This game toys with me damn it.

Lol how could you stomach all that camping? I got my -50k in 3-4 days of camping Cherno. I would have gone crazy going for another -78k. Cherno is probably a bit slower than sniping in Elektro but my victims never even saw me.

The crazy thing is... I don't camp. At all. In fact I'm very much on the move all the time and I get most of my kills that way.

So I was in Elektro and was approaching that school-esque building near the church. I climbed the ladder on the outside and suddenly I heard shots. One was an AK (I think), and the other was a rifle of some kind. I get to the top and there's like four bodies. I think I've scored cause they're all bandits and I'd only just respawned.
I was wary though cause I wasn't entirely sure whoever won the shootout was dead. I look south and see someone crawling just across the street, I go prone as a shot rings out and smashes the wall behind me.

Fuck. There I was with my Makarov with like two rounds left, I crawl around into cover and cautiously get to my knees, I take a quick look to see where he was before, he's not there, maybes he's inside the bui- HCKK.

Just played for the first time, and died.
I went prone here, and apparently broke a lot of bones and then bled out over 5 minutes.
Wasn't really expecting death by lighthouse.
Definitely happened to most of us one way or another. Have to be careful of that stuff, the collision in this game is not very good and will kill you. I died instantly last night when server was reset and I ended up spawning under the floor of a house.
Be cautious moving through doors as well!
Yeah, I just did it again but it wasn't fatal this time. Gotta only use prone when necessary..
And man zombies are relentless. I must have alerted an entire city
Was looting a grocery store, got a smoke grenade and some chem lights, but forgot to check my surroundings and got swarmed.
I thought they might be slowed by the water, but nope

I've never seen a M240, or probably 80% of the weapons in the game for that matter. I see the ammo for it all the time though.
And I think I found a pathing glitch. I had aggroed a bunch of zombies and after running for a while I decided to just let them kill me, so I stopped and turned around but instead of killing me they just bunched up in one spot doing their attacks that couldn't hit me.
I'll have to try again to see if it's exploitable.

I was really annoyed by the balance of the zombie aggro in this game until I realized just how much better the found weapons are. The makarov is basically a laser tag gun in comparison.
In terms of pistols 1911 is fucking OP. Ammo everywhere, one shot kills zeds and if you play around you'll find that the noise it makes is far less than it sounds.

Weird, I thought I'd heard the 1911 was louder and the same damage as the default pistol.
That's clever. I wish they'd just add an option to do Alt-W or something as an autorun toggle. Holding down W for 30 minutes straight really doesn't add much to the experience in my opinion. =P
