Just pre-ordered Lego Batman 2 from Amazon. Basically I just want to play as a Lego Damien Wayne. I really hope we get some more Lego DC sets with other super heroes and villains.
That character pack sounds awesome (Nightwing, Katana, Zatanna, Damian, Shazam!), but I really want the LEGO Lex Luthor minifig from Gamestop, too! What to do? =/

I wonder if those characters will be available for purchase via DLC later on?

Lego GAF is best GAF, by the way.

This story belongs here vs a new topic...Because really, it's LEGO <3

Silicon Valley tech exec accused of Lego thefts

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — A Silicon Valley software executive put fake bar codes on Lego sets at various Target stores, bought the toys at a steep discount, then sold them online for thousands of dollars, authorities said.

Thomas Langenbach, 47, appeared in court Tuesday on four felony counts of burglary that could net him up to five years in prison if convicted. He did not enter a plea.

Authorities say Langenbach bought Lego sets at Target stores but covered their original bar codes with his own bar-code stickers to get a cheaper price.

Examples of his thefts included a $279 box of Millenium Falcon Legos he bought for $49 and a $90 Anakin Skywalker Lego set he got for $35, said Cindy Seeley Hendrickson, supervising deputy district attorney for Santa Clara County.

When police obtained a search warrant for Langenbach's posh home south of San Francisco, they said they found hundreds of sets of the colorful toy bricks, many of which he sold on eBay under the name "tomsbrickyard."

Authorities say Langenbach's house in San Carlos also was filled with Lego creations he had built himself.

Eight baggies of bar code stickers were found in his car, police said.

Langenbach works for German software giant SAP. His LinkedIn profile lists him as a vice president in a Northern California division.

He was already under surveillance by Target security officers who suspected him of the scheme when they spotted him at the chain's Mountain View store May 8. After he completed his purchases using the bogus bar codes, the store called police and Langenbach was arrested, authorities said.

"This particular crime, the way it was done, the sophistication, the amount of expenditure in time and money to do it, suggests there's something way beyond money that motivated him to do it," Hendrickson said.

Attempts to reach Langenbach, who is free on bail, were unsuccessful.

I think it's a much better deal at GameStop, a mini figure will always be there for you to mess around with, DLC pre-order exclusives always tend to show up later or in a Game of The Year edition.

Are the pieces compatible with Lego ones? I can't get over how similarly proportioned they are.

They are compatible, there's no point otherwise :P

I think the KreO build quality is actually pretty good, much better than for instance Sluban - where you instantly notice that the plastic is different, tend to be loose fits, and exhibit a large amount of molding flash residue(!). It's just that the KreO Transformers sets are terribly designed.

I also have experience with Oxford and Enlighten sets, and plan to build some Woma, Cobi and Cogo in the near future for comparison purposes. Hoping to get some Best Lock, Character Building, and Banbao sets as well.

On another note, I saw 2 new Star Wars sets at my local Bart Smit. Pretty surprising - was expecting LotR and Monster Fighter first. Too bad neither of them were Jabba's Palace or the Skiff.

The Kmart stuff is hit or miss. Some stores are discounting the Harry potter and alien conquest stuff as well as all of the pirates stuff. Some are mixing and matching. Good luck everybody
Is each store just completely independent on clearance pricing, the way people here said Walmart is? I checked the one closest to me and all of their AC, HP and PotC stuff seemed regular price, or there weren't any evidence of markdowns and were more than 10c a brick anyway. I wasn't sure what the MSRPs were.

I'm glad I grabbed the Isla De Muerta set as a compliment to the Queen. It has a row boat, treasure chest, Barbossa, a different Jack Sparrow, and Elizabeth Swann in a dress. It gives my kids a lot more to work with when playing together. But adding the Pearl is really going to take it up a notch. The Pearl will also add more villains and good guys to the mix. I think between all 3 sets I will have the majority of the PotC cast and characters.

I love love love the Isla de Muerta set. I wish it was bigger, because that entire setting in the first movie is incredible, but I'm really happy with it for $20. The two Barbossa figures and skeleton-faced Jack are great, too.

Kmart.com has four Alien Conquest sets on clearance, so if there's any dispute with those four, just ask if they'll match the website price. They're incredibly cheap.

LOOK FOR A CLEARANCE TOY AISLE AT KMART. I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I went to the LEGO aisle and they didn't have anything marked down. Dejected, I started to make my way out, only to stumble into a clearance aisle packed with PotC. I just got my nephew, whose birthday is in a month, a QAR for $30. Unbelievable. I was so visibly giddy, the woman who rang me out was laughing and excited for me by the time I left.

Has anyone used the in-store pickup option on kmart.com? The AC sets are shown at discount and available for in-store pickup at my nearest kmart, but when I go to check out, all the prices revert to the original price.

I'm at my local Kmart right now, the sales lady I spoke with said they have to switch on the clearance prices in each store.

There is really nothing of interest, to me, in my store. I'm just going to pick up a few series 7 figs.

I remember now I shopped at Kmart once when I moved a few years ago because it was the closest big household goods store to my new home. When I got home and checked my receipt I realized all the sale items I'd bought were at full price. It wasn't worth going back with everything since it was just a few dollars but I never went back.

All the Kmarts in my area are sold out of the QAR. If any of you guys find an extra, or are looking to sell one, PM me and I'll buy one!

If anyone picks up a Pearl for 30 bucks or less for me, I'd totally pay the shipping to Germany on top of that :D

Then again I have no idea how much shipping cost we're talking about, so there's that. Anyone knows?

Oh man, Shuttle Expedition is SOOOOO good.

As Nicoga said, Shuttle Expedition is one of the best choices. One of the most acclaimed sets on the board it seems. I think the only complaint I read about it is that you need the baseplate to keep it upright, but otherwise everyone gushes over it. I still need to get it.

If you dont mind waiting a week or so, the Sopwith Camel is hitting on June 1st. Many on here are drooling at the thought of that beast.

Nah, jump on the shuttle. Let the camel come out and see how it fares after a few of us have it.

I agree, the Shuttle Expedition is a fine set, plus it has the Hubble/Satellite thingy in its cargo bay

I bought the Shuttle Expedition! Thanks everyone!

When I arrived at the LEGO Store, they were in the process of taking down the Hulk minifig promo signs. In a panic, I asked one of the guys taking them down if they had any left, and he said they were "down to the last dozen." So I grabbed the set & dashed to the register. There was a long line, and the whole time I was sizing up the cost of everyone else's purchases. Fortunately, they still had some!

I don't think I've ever done a set with this many pieces solo! (I always built the big sets with my brother.) There are TWO thick instruction manuals!

really surprised they didn't have one ready. Maybe Lego snagged the license at relatively short notice?

Went to the Lego store today, to see if they had any of the new creator sets in (seaside house etc). They didn't.

So instead I bought Big Ben, a friends set for my daughter's birthday, and R2D2. Yes, after dismissing it for having a chunky head I saw it in the window of the Lego store and fell in love. The review on eurobricks helped too.

I wanted two Big Bens but they only had one left. Was going to see if I could scale it up slightly so the clock face didn't stick out.

Edit: I got two hulks too :)

Marvel licenses for video games are kinda complex.

Heh, after bringing home the little PotC sets, I remembered that I had bought a couple little Prince of Persia sets last year when they were getting rid of them for $3, and put them in a box and forgot about them. I don't feel like digging out the box, but I think it was Ostrich Race and Fight for the Dagger.

What?????

You guys are so lucky... the 'cheapest' QAR in Holland is 100 euro :(
I wanted it...but its just too expensive for me.

Have you had any luck finding Loki's cosmic cube/Captain America or the LotR series? I still can't find them anywhere (Bart Smit/Intertoys etc). Hoping they'll be around in early june then.

Ok, I'm trying one more Kmart and if they don't have anything on sale I'm buying that shuttle. I hate what this thread is doing to me.

If you see something and it's not tagged, make sure you bring it to a price scanner or a register to have it checked. They're notorious for not ticketing things in a timely manner.

No I haven't seen them yet. Cosmic Cube and Cap America are available online at Lego.nl though.... so I guess that's at least something.

That price seems to be a mistake as it is ridiculous that they are that cheap. I believe the Black Pearl was being found for around $20 as well.

Went to my local K-Mart and they had all four of the sets there but none of them came up as the clearance price. Asked an employee how it works if their price is different from the online price and he told me I could order it online and select in store pick-up. All of the sets were more than half off, got the 60 dollar set for 22.50 I think. One of the sets they had in stock wouldn't show up in stock online so I didn't order the Tripod Invader. Just waiting for an e-mail now so I can go pick it up. May double check some of the prices there when I go again.

Hmm, weird, wonder why that didn't work when I tried it.

Saw Gungan Sub and Fury Class Interceptor at Bart Smit today. No sign of LotR, Super Heroes, or Monster Fighters.

I saw the entire run of LotR sets in a walmart on Wednesday. They had them all on a display shelf in the middle of the isle in front of the toy section with "NEW" signs everywhere. Sadly I think the only thing I want out of that is the Gandalf and his wagon. Might go back this weekend.

I think he is talking about the (depressing) situation in the Netherlands ;)

Picked up the Gandalf arrives LEGO set today. I'm not buying any more LEGO LOTR unless they make some epic large scale ones (2000+ pieces) like Minas Tirith, Mordor or Gondor

Screw those. Prancing Pony. Bag's End. Gimme.

Please tell me you brought home the Fury Class Interceptor.

I sure as hell would have!
=)

It's nice but I'm going to spend my LEGO money on Jabba's Palace, Skiff, LotR, Monster Fighters, and R2D2. And I wouldn't buy it from Bart Smit anyway :P

Has LEGO ever commented on (what I'm sure is a popular question) if they plan to release mini-modulars for the current batch of modulars?

Built the first set of the mini modular set, wow I am super impressed by some of the techniques they use. Please make more in this fashion!
Agreed. This set really got me fired up for Lego again. It's fun, and I love that it's broken up into 5 different tiny builds. <3

In other news:

Snagged Gandalf Arrives and The Mines of Moria today at the OKC Lego Store. Will post pics when built.

Also got the Hulk minifig. Simultaneously adorable and badass.
