I hope he is. I want him to look like a wimpering nutcase after Bane is through with him. His confidence and his bones shattered, huddled in the corner of his batcave wearing eye make up, trying desperately to make a mask out of his cape.

Nothing could prove the utter insanity of a human being more than the look of Bruce standing sweating and blody, wearing black make up around his eyes.
 
Keatons eye liner magically went away as he revealed himself to Catwoman.

Which confused me as a kid.

Which makes me think that the makeup doesn't exist til he puts on the mask, it'll never be acknowleged.

I like to look at the 'eyeliner' area as a fleshy protective membrane that's as comfortable as contact lenses..

Also, it's no question because you can already see in the trailer when Bruce asks Bane why he didn't finish him off. There's no guy-liner.

EDIT: I just realized he is in a prison and woke up after some time. But still, he took his mask off in Begins and there was no guy-liner.

It would be a nice throwback to the Joker beatdown from TDK as well. I doubt it will happen though.
 
It's nolan, they'll probably have a fight inside some kind of water heavy environment, and his mascara will be all runny by the time the mask comes off.

Well I definitely felt bad during the Rachel death scene but that was mostly because of the situation, not because of the character. If Katie Holmes was playing Rachel I would have cared more.

That reminds me of the special features on the Batman DVD.

There's a brief behind the scenes shot where I see Keaton wearing a hair net and racoon eyes before he struggles to put on the cowl.

This bugged the hell out of me. They could've avoided this, easily.

Shot of batman with makeup beginning to tear off the mask, cut to catwoman reaction shot, cut back to batman (different shot) tearing off the mask sans makeup.

It was so poorly put together.

Yeah I was thinking that too. They leave the shot sitting for way too long on his face as well. At least cut to the shot just as he starts to tear the mask off. Really takes you out of it.
 
I still remember seeing that movie in the theatre the night it came out with my older cousin and his parents. As soon as that scene played out, he leaned over to me and was like "Well I'm glad to know Batman's cowl can just be ripped off his head so easily..." I don't know why, but his comment always stuck with me and makes me laugh every time I watch that scene.
 
well in the first movie Bob the goon and the others (I forgot who specifically) grabbed the nose part of the mask and tugged on the stretchy material.

They supposedly pulled off the mask hence Vicki Vale's photos, so he actually had reason to take Vicki's pictures later. Then you can briefly see for a quick second Batman slipping his mask back on before getting up and beating up the goons.

Or in movie continuity you can say Riddler was watching before he got the chance to introduce himself.

Also, I can remember a ton of lines from Forever, I watched it that much.

According to wiki, they used Jack Nicholson's first name and combined it with the surname of Alan Napier, who played Alfred in the 1960's Batman tv series.

When I looked it up, I was actually hoping for a reason that had some connection to the comics, but the name Jack Napier doesn't appear in any prior to the movie.

You know I figured that! After watching old batman and seeing that Alfred's name was Alan Napier.

I love Batman 89's Joker Origin. It's a lot better than his comic origin, a ruthless gangster now letting out his inner psycho.
 
I checked out some of those Batman serials from the 40's. The 60's series was a parody of them and Burton was inspired by them (he never read the comics). Interesting stuff. Has some anti-Japanese content though due to the period.

I think I much prefer The Killing Joke's origin and it's strange that Burton strayed so far away from that considering he's stated it was "the first comic I've ever loved."

I love the idea that The Joker and Batman differ in very few ways. Both regular people who had a single bad day that turned their entire lives around. One bad day is all it takes (in both The Joker and Batman's cases) to turn someone completely crazy. And that's what The Joker aims to prove. Without that beautiful kicker, Batman '89 Joker feels a bit aimless.

If Paul Kersey was in these movies, the whole trilogy would be 29 minutes long. Some romantic interludes, Rachel dies in a random act of absurd violence, Joker holds a boom box up to his face and gets head shotted, cue credits.
