Liemax is RealD in most of my experiences.
If this is true than my original point stands. Real IMAX screen provides a different type of 3D to Liemax and any screen using RealD 3D. One that some viewers prefer.

Real IMAX = 15/70 film, 3D effect pops put of the screen, provides the biggest image (most immersive) even when no IMAX filmed scenes are present, darker/not as sharp of an image with digital films.
LieMAX = Digital IMAX with digital projection, similar 3D effect to real IMAX, brighter/crisper picture when digital films are played, similar sound to real IMAX, smaller screen size than real IMAX.
Regular 3D screen = Used RealD 3D which has a more "in the screen" 3D effect, digital projection, smaller/equal screen size when compared to LieMAX, worst sound of the three.
UltraAVX in Canada uses a bigger screen (smaller than real IMAX but bigger than most LieMAX), better sound (very close to IMAX), uses RealD 3D.
I think this is about right.
Should I go for UltraAVX in that case? There's one at Metrotown which is closer than the Langley IMAX.
Real IMAX theaters with digital projectors do exist.
I'm not sure of the IMAX in Langley is real or LieMax. If it's LieMAX they both will be digital and it comes down to which 3D effect you prefer. If it's real than the picture won't be as sharp/bright but it will be bigger and the 3D will have more pop.
What exactly is the difference between RealD 3D and "pop" 3D? I've only seen a couple of films in 3D, they were in a standard theater and I guess RealD.
Just watched Aliens (theatrical) for the first time on Blu. Really well-directed and the action scenes were obviously brilliant, but my favourite bits were the motion tracker bits. God they were fucking scary :lol
Seen the director's cut a few times, cos the DVD I have is the Special Edition.
So yeah fun film.
Watched the theatrical cut in the end, will do the same as Alien and watch director's cut after Prometheus.
Haven't seen it for about 8 years, and enjoyed the second half; the action's very well paced and there's a few great shots (Hicks lifting up the vent and them all being there is nightmare enducing) but the first half when I'm forced to spend time with Hudson who is a very annoying character, and shithead Vasquez that can't act, I didn't really enjoy it. It didn't feel as tight or focused as the first film, but the second half's very fun. I just wish Newt didn't scream so much but she's mostly okay. Mostly.
Not a patch on the first one. If the first one is a 4/4, the second is a 3/4. Havent seen the third and remember the fourth one not too fondly.

I just saw the Coors Light commercial featuring Prometheus.
Weirdest cross promotion ever.
The Stephen A. Smith commercial I witnessed during the Miami / Boston game tops that. Shockingly bad, I can't believe they tried to equate the plight of those in the movie to the heroism and struggle of basketball players.

Any more Twitter impressions/spoiler free reviews? Deep down, I just want confirmation.

That certainly seems to be the trend so far.Caught a new bit of dialog in one of the new TV spots (which I was hoping to avoid) and it came off kind of clunky.
Oh, god. Imax, LieMax, UlraAVX, 4k digital, whatever - can somebody just tell me where to go in NYC for the best possible 3D experience?
This is nonsense. The amount of "pop" has nothing to do with the projection technology. With IMAX 3D everything pops out of the screen and appears to be in front of you, almost like you can reach out and grab it. RealD 3D provides inward depth and is like looking into a window. Everything is contained within the screen. I'm still not 100% certain if digital IMAX pops out as much as traditional IMAX since I have never experienced it.
You go down the block from the LieMax theater, past the electronic stores with the 4k 3D LED HDTV's, take the subway to RealD 3D theater....walk past it, turn right, go up that block until you hit the normal movie theater, turn left, keep walking until you come to the retro theater with the red/blue glasses, go in and laugh, get out and take the nearest bus one stop, get out and take a cab north 5 miles, and right there should be a sign that says "For Best Possible 3D Experience, follow these directions."

IMAX 3D is optimized for the image to pop-out like old 3D movies and RealD is optimized for the image to extend in and provide depth which is what modern 3D filmmakers use it for.Seriously, I have no idea what he's talking about when describing 3D visuals and just gave up. 70mm IMAX 3D < Digital IMAX aka LIEmax 3D. Sculli showed me the way, and if he wasn't on blackout from reviews he would slap enigma in the face.
IMAX 3D is worth the extra 2$ for the sound system alone.
Awesome. Will I am currently able to purchase IMAX 3D tickets for the June 8th showing through Fandango. Should I pull the trigger and buy now or wait closer to the actual date? (never purchased movie tickets this early)
