It's easier and more natural to put the phone in upside down.
maybe the camera has been moved to the bottom ad the dock connector has been moved to the top. all these pictures sow the iphone upside down
so the headphone jack is still on the top.
top is the new bottom.
Why would it need to wrap around the phone? it just heads up to the ears.
I don't use earphones with really long cords, I guess.
I sometimes look at my phone from my waist, from head level, from the side, etc. Often near the limit of the cord length. And the cord just going out the top makes it very simple, no chance of getting into field of vision, no chance of disturbing my hand/arms. Maybe it wouldn't be a hassle with longer cords.
the power button is on the bottom? D:
Oh I know, but just from a design standpoint it looks unpleasing. Those aren't speakers - one is a speaker, and one is a mic.
Love the centered front-facing camera, like you, I'm a fan of symmetry, always annoyed by the look of the current one.
Supposedly this was one of the projects he was deeply involved in while on his deathbed. We miss you Steve.
I'm pretty sure the antenna that the GPS chip uses on the iphone is already part of the external band (even though the chip is obviously inside). on the ipad and other apple devices, the antennas are all on the inside and need to be able to work through windows in the metal structure.
with the antenna on the outside, the front and back materials aren't as important, as far s I can tell

I'll invent some cool new way of dropping this bad boy in my pocket, no doubt.

Steve had a hand in the design of this and you bet he approved it. It's not like this was developed after October...We miss you Steve.
Can it? The only adapter I've seen for MHL is HDMI. Are there others like Apple advertises for the iPad?But at the end of the day the microusb port can do all those things like apple's ports if you get the right adapters right? Maybe in 2007 microusb was useless but today I don't really see the practical difference. Apple would never switch ofcourse because they love the control of the 'Made for iPhone' program.

It's just the casing, so just two empty holes. The volume buttons are not there in pic yet. I would assume they are exactly like the 4/4S, based on the casing design. Are the volume toggles recessed? Or is it just the angle plus a slightly blurry section of the photo?

Looks like they finally learned from their mistake. The back and sides appear to be a single piece, possibly the breaks at the top and bottom are antennas, but the sides are part of the housing/back and milled from the same piece.
I think that's just the outer shell, so the buttons are not in there. Are the volume toggles recessed? Or is it just the angle plus a slightly blurry section of the photo?
I really don't like that either. I'm a fan of black + steel look of iPhone 4 :\ White one just looks plain better now, but I don't like white one for different reasons. At least on iPhone 4s, white dones't have the same shine and reflectiveness. Also that thin black border around the screen looks jarring on it.Wait, the metal side bands are black on the black version? That's pretty dope.

Yes, I plan on moving to Bluetooth devices anyway because of stupid earphones that always break.Well when you hold your phone, the top of it is always going to be farther than the bottom. At some point the cord will have to make up that distance. Just seems like it'd be simpler to just have it come from the bottom. Don't get me wrong, it's really not that big of a deal either way.

How is the top farther than the bottom? The top is closest to my head. The bottom is farthest from my ears.
But like I said, I guess I have shorter cords, because I'm not encountering an issue with cords needing to wrap around the phone. Many of my holding patterns get the cord near the limit, and it gives me more flexibility to hold it, coming from the top.

How is at the top less in the way that at the bottom?

At the bottom it points immediately towards your body, whereas at the top it has to traverse the length of the phone some way or another to reach your ears.
Holy CRAP, how did I miss that. That looks awesome, monolith, FTW!!!Wait, the metal side bands are black on the black version? That's pretty dope.

Nobody seems to be talking about what's going on with the lenses there. That can't be the flash, it's just too big. Even the camera lens looks weird (bigger?) and what is that little slit? LED indicator?

One of the site's guessed its the second, noise cancelling mic. It matches the mic slit on the iPad 2.![]()

We don't know that, could be a few mm thinner.Same thick bezel around the screen -_-
The fuck? No way, what kind of backwards placement is that, putting it IN-BETWEEN the camera and the flash? Makes no sense. It's the mic for video recording.

Ahhh, a second mic. That could make some sense. Still weird placement. One of the site's guessed its the second, noise cancelling mic. It matches the mic slit on the iPad 2.
Yeah there are Micro USB to VGA MHL Adapters. And if you get a Micro USB Host Mode OTG you can use it like it were a computer's usb port. The iOS ecosystem has a lot more accessories obviously. The comments about the usability of the microusb connector are spot on though. Can it? The only adapter I've seen for MHL is HDMI. Are there others like Apple advertises for the iPad?
And honestly, I'm not a fan of the micro usb connector because I always have to look at the port and make sure it's in the right way before I can connect it. The dock connector isn't exactly easy either, but for that all I have to do is look at the top of the connector to make sure it's right side up and then I just push it in to the port.
Something magnetic like the magsafe would be fantastic.

If it doubles for video recording, it makes sense. You're pointing the mic in the same direction as the camera. Otherwise you're recording video in one direction, but recording audio from another direction. The fuck? One thing I noticed. The back is totally FLUSH with the band (no gap or border along the edge).
The front still has a gap/border going around the screen and against the metal band, it's not as flush (like the current iPhone). Notice the white border on the bottom edge of the above pic?
Hmmm, yeah nice find. That is weird. Not to sound too hyperbolic but man it seems like this device, design wise, is a big 'ol asymmetrical ugly pile of shit. In the details, anyway.
Ah well, it could have been worse.
How? :lol
Honestly can't think of a worse scenario that was on the table. It was either aluminum iPad back, same old glass back, or this.
Anyone else notice the very little taper along the edges on the back? Better than a 90 degree angle block like it is now!
Nah....they will be black, white, and so far the rumour is the back, at the very least, will be available in 2 more colours. Don't know if that means 2 more front colours as well. I would assume it would, but Apple has had trouble with colours before. Are all the fronts black again?
If they are, that would be the cherry on top of this entire pos. But no, probably not.Are all the fronts black again?
That's the thing though, won't this severely effect the shadowing effect in flash photos even more-so than it used to? Just seems so dumb, as a placement. But yeah, a second mic makes sense (esp. for vid rec).I actually prefer the flash to be further away from the lens.
Could have gone back to curved plastic of iPhone 3GS, and/or be made thicker than iPhone 4/4S... In the end, it's thinner it will feel better when it's in your pocket, and you don't look at the back side almost ever really. How? :lol

You're probably just seeing things. Slight gradient in the lighting off of the aluminum material, not an actual curvature.Anyone else notice the very little taper along the edges on the back? Better than a 90 degree angle block like it is now!
