I wrote up some impressions of the Resistance demo and the Gravity Rush demo... not very exciting, I know, being that everyone can just download them and decide for themselves. But I had to talk myself down off a ledge last night and today as the really poor resistance scores poured in - and sony started off without a discount for the game - so writing this helped me get my head straight.

I need to stop thinking about the vita so much. I guess part of the problem is that my site relies on the Vita doing well, so i'm actually invested in it. I don't like being invested in it. :(

Anyway, here: http://foryourvitahype.com/2012/05/...ce-impressions-gravity-rush-demo-impressions/

Good write-up. I would agree with you on Resistance as somebody who owns the game. It's not bad, and in some aspects it's good. It just fails to go beyond average. Exactly what I expected from the developer. I predicted it would get a 60% average, and that's exactly what it got.

So, the Gravity Rush demo is pretty cool. The game looks better than I was expecting based on screenshots that have been posted. When I first got the ability to warp gravity and put myself wherever I wanted, I was very impressed. The open world feeling is great, but the demo really restricts you from having any fun with it.

I'm definitely interested in the game now, but it was so short and really didn't make me feel like I really know what to expect from the full game. Just how open is the open world? How deep does the fighting mechanic get (it's quite basic in the demo)? Is there any interaction with the civilians walking around? It's a good taste, but it's quite the tease.

I haven't been paying attention to Netflix on the Vita lately, but everytime I open the app, it asks if I'm a member, so I fill out the the info, but it says I can't connect and should go to netflix.com/help or something. Anyone know whats up here?

Have you updated to ver. 1.02 yet? And yes this has happened to me before. I think it was one of many bugs that app has or had (since the 1.01 update). I'm on 1.02 and no issues so far.

I just updated tonight and the same issue. I keep getting that error every time.

I didn't. I gave examples of what constitutes interesting mechanics.

So it's okay it's not mechanically sound out-of-box, because the community will fix it? That's lowering the standard and with no real reason for it. Besides if the mechanics aren't as good as needed in a platformer, the community will have a hard time fixing anything..

It's different in the sense that they want a physics based solution that makes user creation + interaction interesting (and automatic).

I wasn't comparing it to Mario, as much as comparing/showing mechanics in different games and it's not enough to leave those kind of things in the hands of the community. It it was, every FPS with mod/editor tools would be the same. This is even more important in a game like LBP, where there are limits to how much the community can fix, even if they wanna dedicate the time.

LBP comes with its own levels, so it's not all community levels. As for how much the community can fix, we have been surprised a few times already. I don't think they see it that way. They will focus on what LBP can do best and make their levels shine -- instead of focusing on its weaknesses and get hung up on them.

A gravity rush post was just made on the EU Blog with the following in it

To give you a sneak peek of what’s to come, the Gravity Rush Demo will be available on PlayStation Network from today (those of you located in the UK and Ireland will have to wait until Friday for the usual store update but do make sure to get a glimpse of the action).

That seems to suggest that we have to wait until Friday for just the Demo but I sure as hell hope they made a mistake (we have to wait until Friday for new full games that are also in retail for some fucked up reason).

EDIT: They updated and confirmed that the Demo is out in the UK today and not on Friday. Huzzah!

I was looking foward to resistance but....I cannot believe how much the graphics suck. To me it almost look like PS2 quality.

Literally finished the Gravity Rush demo in 5 mins, but I'd alread played it a couple minutes at a Gamestop kiosk so I knew the controls.

I've had it pre-ordered on amazon for months. Going to be so happy when I get my hands on the full game.

Really? I think it looks fine, in some areas it's actually better than some PS3 games. The art direction is pretty nice too.

How are you guys feeling about Vita before going into E3? I think it will have a great showing. There are already a couple games announced that I really want, and I'm sure there will be even more at the show.

Of the games I really, really want, is a GTA game (chinatown wars style or IV, I don't mind), a new MediEvil, some kind of co-op online game, and a new Ratchet and Clank.

Hmm actually I'm already hyped on games already annouced so i'm more interested in the other functionality -
I want to know about PS1 compatibility, new apps, better browser etc :)

NOVA 3 already look better :(

True - its kinda weird having titles like Nova 3, IB2 and Real Racing 2 on smartphones, it`ll be hard for graphics to impress someone in this day and age. It was easier for PSP in 2004.

I'll take buttons over graphics any day of the week.

Thats not the point, i was talkin about the graphical showcase compatibilities only. Buttons are expected for portable devices.

well for me, some days of the week includes board games and rts's and mobas, which I'd rather play with touch over buttons ;)

Speaking of which, anybody find a decent way to hold the vita for touch only games/applications?

Typing on the keyboard fast is kinda hard... but maybe my thumbs are just short :(

Just finished Mutant Blobs this morning; breezed through it in no time at all, but for £5 you can't argue with an initial run through play time of 3-5 hours.

Missed a few gold medals and blobs along the way so i'll go back and get all them to 100% the trophies as there's nothing that hard.

Great little game, fun to play, attractive visuals and cheap. I hope Vita gets more quality DL titles that match the calibre of this.

I had this problem as well. I fixed it by going to Netflix.com and changing my streaming settings to either good or low quality. Hopefully that should help your problem.

Nice. This is probably the most played game on Vita. There is a official topic on gaf of Montezuma Blitz? Add me if you want to compare some scores: Shinriji

Montezuma Blitz Patch 1.01

- Add 13 trophies
- Reduced XP to level up
- Automatic hints after a few seconds
- Friend’s levels appear in the leaderboard
- There’s a play button on the results screen to go straight to the next match.
- More extensive tutorial, better in-game hints, tips on loading screens, a redesigned UI for ease of use, as well as more information available on all the gameplay elements by tapping on their icons throughout the game.

I cant seem to find montezuma blitz in the psn store i've looked for 2 months checking each update but i cant find it?
I'm in Australia so if anyone else can check and tell me how to get it, that would be appreciated.

I installed the update for Treasures of Montezuma Blitz, the trophies installed, but I can't seem to be able to earn any.

Do you have to buy anything?

Sorely needed, sad that the full game was missing all this stuff (the UI was atrocious!).

Never mind, restarted my PS Vita and the trophies unlock now.

FREE TROPHIES!

Did anyone notice how the PSN prices of Hot Shots, Wipeout, and Little Deviants don't reflect the $19 price drops from last week at retail stores?

Is killzone liberation worth picking up for the vita? It's from way back in 2006, but the reviews seem decent.
It's pretty fun, but I'm not sure if it's possible to play the final chapter of it on the Vita. It had to be downloaded and I don't think it's available anymore on the PSN store. There is a workaround for how to install it on the PSP, but that's not possible for the Vita since you don't have direct access to the file structure. Maybe someone else in this thread know the answer to this.
