I think the game just bugged.

I am rich now.

Unit 13 finally came today; looking forward to this seeing as I've finished Rayman and Mutant Blobs recently and I got bored of Motorstorm after 120+ medals.

One day i'll go back to Escape Plan and Uncharted.

Supremely jealous.

I love playing this game but am constantly hamstrung by winning 200 (aka 1 game) in the scratch off and not wanting to pay for it.

Is your time settings set to something weird? Or did the game just freak out?

It is on their side. Maybe caught their servers at a bad time? :p

My first scratch card gave me 40k at the time >_>

Edit: after patch, the game is so much better and fun now.

Nice. This is probably the most played game on Vita. There is a official topic on gaf of Montezuma Blitz? Add me if you want to compare some scores: Shinriji

Montezuma Blitz Patch 1.01

- Add 13 trophies
- Reduced XP to level up
- Automatic hints after a few seconds
- Friend’s levels appear in the leaderboard
- There’s a play button on the results screen to go straight to the next match.
- More extensive tutorial, better in-game hints, tips on loading screens, a redesigned UI for ease of use, as well as more information available on all the gameplay elements by tapping on their icons throughout the game.

I agree it is my most played as well. I at least try to boot it up once a day for my free scratch card. I just won around 15,000 gems a few days ago =)

Thanks for the heads up.

I just played that Match 3 game only to get some trophies. I think people know and are thinking of me as a lesser person.

/edit/ ^ I won 40k on my first try.

Was trying to figure out the Nico Nico app that we got in yesterday's PSN update.

I can't seem to figure out how to do a search for a video. Looking at youtube vids of the Japanese version of the app, there appears to be several icons along the left side of the screen that don't appear on my version of the app.

Japanese version:

North American version:

Is there something I'm missing somewhere to enable the search feature? ...or is the NA version gimp'd?

Goddamn the Gravity Rush demo was good. I was afraid that the floating controls would feel disorienting but it plays incredibly well.

...some trophies in Treasures of Montezuma Blitz are glitched, aren't they? Some just don't unlock (like the 10x multiplier one).

Why is France getting the hook up with Vita price cuts and really nice bundles?

PlayStation Vita price cut by €50 in France
The company will offer buyers a rebate for the total on any Vita purchased between June 1 and July 15. Sony UK just told us: "This is a limited retail price promotion that is only available for a short space of time in France.

Everybody's Golf worth £11.99? It's on UK PSN at that price.
I bought this game only because of the new price. I'm really glad that i did :) If i knew i would enjoy this game, then i would have bought it at launch instead.

Just played GR for the first time, love it! Did anyone have some weird slowdown though on the boss at the end? Mine froze to a halt, stuttered then came back to life, and did it twice. I hope it was just some weird one time glitch in the demo.

Only 2 weeks to go, can't wait to play the full game.

GAF, let's post reviews/recommendations of the Vita games we've played.

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

Don't be deceived by the cutesy graphics, this game is really deep, challenging, and has lots of content. There are six golf courses in total. The main challenge mode consists of six ranks, each with five normal events and one VS event. Then the seventh rank has one final VS event. Oh, and every VS event has a harder version you can unlock by collecting crowns.

This was my first HSG game, so I was overwhelmed at first because the game basically leaves you learn to play on your own. But there's plenty of explanations and advice on the internet. It's very much a skill-based game, and it was very satisfying to feel my skills improving after hours and hours of practice.

The difficulty curve is pretty steady, but I did chicken out and started using easy mode in the middle of the fourth rank. Accidentally hitting the ball out of bounds or in the water can completely destroy your chances of winning which is frustrating, but such is the game of golf.

My other gripe is the shop. As you play you earn points, which are used to buy things at the shop. I focused on only buying characters, clubs, balls, and courses, but the prices rapidly outpaced the rate I was earning points. I just feel like it takes too long to unlock stuff.

Overall HSG:WI is great. Compelling gameplay, tight controls, extensive content, pretty much everything I wanted of it. I would definitely recommend this game, it's well worth the asking price.

Lumines: Electronic Symphony

I played the first Lumines alot, so I felt right at home with this game. It's a block-clearing puzzle game with groovy music, vibrant graphics, and stylish presentation.

There's a few new gameplay elements here. Shuffle blocks: at first these seemed annoying, but after they saved me a few times from the dreaded checkerboard pattern, I started to really appreciate them. Avatar abilities: I rarely used these, mainly because I forgot about them. Experience system: as you play you gain XP and level up, which unlocks new skins and avatars. IMO this was a pretty useless addition.

There are some different modes of play, such as voyage (the main mode), master mode (extra challenging), stopwatch mode (fixed time intervals), playlist (custom tracklist), and duel. Unfortunately duel mode is versus CPU or local multiplayer only. No online multiplayer is kind of a disappointment. Just online leaderboards.

Overall Lumines ES a decent entry in the series. Gameplay is solid as usual, but I was left wanting more from it. If you're looking for a fun puzzle game, this is it, but try to find it at a lower price.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention

I freaking love Disgaea. It's a SRPG series with usual grid movement, turn-based battles, and standard RPG elements. But IMO, other SRPGs tend to feel "tedious", while Disgaea is fun, fast-paced, easy to dive into, and it's just as deep and expansive. The series also features a few unique gameplay elements like lifting/throwing and geo blocks, which allows for map designs that are creative and puzzle-like. Oh, and it has a quirky sense of humor, and is chock full of references and parodies.

This game is mostly a straight port of the PS3 game, but with all the DLC content included, plus some new content, and some gameplay tweaks. So it's well worth the $40 price tag.

The biggest improvement to me is actually that post-game grinding is now way easier. You can obtain one of the best pieces of equipment pretty early in the post-game, and maxing out the item's stats is really straightforward. Disgaea is known for its intricate gameplay systems and endless grinding possibilities, but this game is much simpler to grasp and faster to reach stat caps.

If you're new to Disgaea, don't worry. Beating the main story doesn't require that much grinding or understanding of how things work. Afterwards, you can start to figure things out from there.

If you've played the PS3 game, I think you'll have to decide for yourself whether you want more of it. But if you haven't played the PS3 game, I would highly recommend D3:AoD. Probably the best SRPG the Vita will ever get.

EG is worth the OG £40 price, so yeah, it's really worth it for 12. It could be wise to look for a physical copy though as the game is pretty big (1.4GB)

1.5GB is not tiny, but Vita's memory card are, and the bigger ones are crazy expensive. So yeah, it's annoying, I have a 8GB card and it's already stuffed even though "the Vita has no games".

In comparison to most Vita retail games, it's tiny! I have a 16GB and mine is full too :P Damn thing having no games.

Just played the Gravity Rush demo. Definitely a gorgeous looking game. Sounds good, too, and I even like the little cartoon bits.
Not really sold on the gameplay, though. It's intriguing, but they should have picked a more involved part for the demo to show off the mechanics. Maybe one or two of the challenges.
Still appears like a pretty neat game. I wont buy it Day 1, but it's something I'll look forward to in the future after it drops in price a little.

Can Vita do offline coop? I ask because Guacamelee doesn't support 2p offline/adhoc for Vita....wtf is that? Does "adhoc offline" work just like PSP?

Worried about Little King's Story... videos of the J version show some pretty bad slowdown in towns when you have an entourage with you. Wonder if it gets slow in other parts? Doubt they fixed that just for a localization :/

When you say easy mode, do you mean the easy club and ball? I'm upto the fourth rank as well and starting to struggle.

No, not easy club and ball. If you lose a few events, a notice will pop up and you'll unlock easy mode. It's completely the same, except that opponents will get worse scores. Just press the square button to toggle easy mode on/off.

The easy mode option pops up (at least it did for me) when you start to lose several times in a row. I dont think that it affects anything regarding gameplay, but it will make the opponents you play against less good. This means that you have a higher chance of winning.

EDIT: Already mentioned :)

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but is anyone else having difficulty connecting to PSN through Netflix after updating the app? I the first "Please Wait" screens pass smoothly but then I get stuck on "connecting to playstation network. The loading indicator next to the WiFi icon doesn't even appear during this step.

Wow had no idea! Do the losses have to be consecutive?
