Why is PSone support so important?

The PS1 games will arguably control better than on the PS3 thanks to the awesome d-pad. Also, there's a really good library of games up on the store and I imagine people really want to conveniently play them on the go.

Has my Vita died?
Won't turn on.
Won't charge.

Plugged into wall outlet, surge protector, cradle, PC via USB, PS3 via USB.
No combination works.
Original first party cables, chargers, and peripherals.

Last night, plugging it on via all the methods listed above would cause the PS Home light to flucker orange briefly before dying off. Today, not even that.

Haven't touched it in a month; wanted to see how bad Resistance really is. Figure that either the battery or charger has failed.

Curiously, R1 killed my first PS3.
This R bastard spin-off may have killed mh Vita.

PS Vita False-Starter Edition. :(

Have you tried holding down the power button for 20 - 30 seconds to get into the safe mode menu?

Thought so as well. Taking it to a local GS to see if they have a loose charger I can test. Weird, because I dumped dozens of hours into Uncharted without issue. Just haven't really touched the system since.

Agreed

PSX support NEEDS to be launched next week

Vita is still my all time favorite handheld, which is nuts considering what's out right now

I'm just that in love with the hardware. I mean shit, as of late, I've been finding my Vita more comfortable to hold than my beloved Dualshock3!
Sticks are still obviously better though on the DS3.

My biggest problem with the Vita isn't with the hardware. It's with how Sony handles their digital price structure. Why on earth don't they drop the prices on the PSOne and PSP games?

It would entice players to continue to use their Vita's and spend more money on games. They should be doing weekly sales, holiday sales, all that...

I've been enjoying Army Corps of Hell lately. I already beat it a while ago, and going back getting the Platinum medals is somewhat satisfying.

I wonder how the game did, there wasn't much buzz about it.

PSOne price is reasonable. PSP prices is out of Sony hand, for their own first party catalog, I though they already decrease many of the price.

I wouldn't hold my breath for PS One games launching on Vita at E3, though they may be announced at a later date. My guess, but I'm getting very certain about it, is that PS One games will be released through PS Suite, so they run on all those platforms and kickstart that distribution channel. Vita seems a little bit behind in terms of PS Suite support to the Android devices, so perhaps they will launch earlier on those. Very likely to be this year though ...

I didn't know PS1 games weren't all playable yet (haven't bought a Vita yet).

So when you visit the PSN store on the Vita, do you only see what you can actually use on the system or is it clearly labled or what?

You only see what you can use. There are some PSP games that do work on the Vita that don't show up at all though.

You just see what's available for Vita.
You can go to your download list and see everything you've downloaded but it won't be available unless it's compatible with Vita.

I've very kindly been given a Ridge Racer discount code from a friends copy of Touch My Katamari - where do I enter this to get a PSN code to apply the discount?

Go to the PSN store on Vita, click on the button in the bottom-right corner, select redeem codes, enter in code, pay balance .

Click the button in the top left with "1 2"

The code I have is only 9 digits, not 12.

I think there is meant to be a namco site were the code is entered to generate a 12 digit PSN code but I can't find it.

It is completely unimportant actually. Some people just want it for nostalgia's sake I suppose.

"It's completely unimportant to you" is a more accurate statement.

It's important to me A) because it was promised, and B) because I actually quite like replaying PS1 games from time to time. I could really go for a Xenogears or FFVII playthrough sometimes soon, and my PS3 sounds like a jet engine, so I'd rather play it on my PS Vita while laying down most days.

I can guarantee you it is a feature less than 1% of vita owners have an interest in. Hell, I don't even know a single person in real life that played PSOne games on their ps2, ps3, or PSP.

I'm guessing it's not financially that important for them, it's more about about them living up to certain expectations, when comparing the Vita to the PSP.

And people don't play PS1 games for nostalgia, some of them actually hold up well.

Less than 1%? You sir are talking out of your ass, as many people have played PSone classics on the PS3 and PSP.

10 bucks for a 15+ year old game isn't reasonable, IMO. The 5.99 games are definitely reasonable.

And yea, PSP games are where the prices have issues. I mean, FF4 for 30$? $20 for GTA?

I think they'd make more money lowering the price and getting more people to participate in the Sony ecosystem.

PSone pricing on the PSN has been great in my experience. I paid $5.99 for every PSone game I didn't get through Plus. I also got Final Fantasy 8 for ~$4 thanks to that awesome sale in April.

Eh, I think you're underselling how many people bought Final Fantasy 7 and Crash Bandicoot on the PSN over the years. The people who do buy PSone games tend to buy many of them, so even if it was only 1% of a few million people... it's worth their time to get the emulation working so they can continue to resell the ISOs that are already on the network. It's easy money.

That's just silly. 1%? I can't imagine most Vita gamers have no interest in playing PSone classics.

Really? I'm betting the number is closer to 20%. I know I want to have the ability to play PSOne games on my Vita.

1%? More like every PS+ subscriber who has a Vita. Sony give PS1 games away with + each month, why wouldn't people want to play them on their new hardware?

Personally I am looking forward to playing Final Fantasy IX for the first time. It's so much more pleasant to play a PS1 game on a portable device.

I may have a Vita by the end of the day. Hyped!

Guy selling one on craigslist near me. 3g version, a case, Uncharted, Little Deviants, and Rayman for $250. That seemed like a good deal to me. Didn't mention a memory card, but we'll see.

Just bear in mind that if it doesn't come with a memory card you won't be able to play most games on it, including Uncharted, until you have one. Hope you get it.

I know lots. Your argument is invalidated.

I have about 10 ps1 games ready to put on my memory card, and at least 4-5 more I know I want to purchase when I can play them on Vita.

I really want folders. :(

Just going to have to take my word on this one, but if you hate Wal-Mart more than Best Buy or maybe you have Gift Cards or whatever, during the week of 6/10-6/16 Best Buy is offering a $50 Gift Card with the purchase of either model Vita.

Note this is a week after the Wal-Mart promotion and it is unknown if Best Buy will match for them next week, or if Amazon will step in with a similar promotion. However, in case they don't this is good news for those that rather purchase the Vita at Best Buy.

PS1 support really isnt my thing. I can think of 1 must have game for me that probably wont even make it (carnage heart) but just about everyone I talk to def has interest so that 1% i feel is a bit off

Maybe you and Bobby are the 1% that don't care. lol.

Honestly if nobody cared why is Final Fantasy 7 one the highest selling games on PSN? and why bother adding more PSone games if nobody buys them. Argument is silly, there are people that want them and some of those people also own a Vita, and were promised PSone games to work on the Vita.

I would not have sold my psp and all 22 games to be an early vita adopter if not for ps1 support. It is a BIG deal for me.....
