Does PS Vita exist / Lack of Vita games at E3

List time!

To be honest, there are plenty of games coming for it, it's just there is nothing that inspires quality third party support down the road and that's what pisses me off. They would have to be working on games now before nextgen development next year. So far we have:

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation
Bioshock: Escape from Vaporware
Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified
DJ Max Technika Tune
Dragon's Crown
Final Fantasy X HD
Gravity Rush
Killzone
LittleBigPlanet Vita
Madden 13
Malicious
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
New Little King's Story
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD
Persona 4: The Golden
Phantasy Star Online 2
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Ragnarok Odyssey

Silent Hill: Book Of Memories
Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Soul Sacrifice
Street Fighter X Tekken
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz
Time Travelers
Warrior's Lair
Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

Plus PSN + PSP Games like Growlanser, Gungnir, Jet Set Radio, Orc Attack, When Vikings Attack, Dokuro etc.

But which one of these is going to sell the system at Christmas?

Well, I'll be doing my part. :P Bolded are the games I'll be purchasing. MGS HD is fine, but I already bought it for PS3 and it's hard for me to justify buying it again - I've played them so many times as it is.

I think the most insulting part is that the Vita does have a decent amount of games on the horizon, I prefer that slate of upcoming games more than the 3DS overall.

Hell you had new Vita game announcements today, like Sine Mora and Need For Speed: Most Wanted coming to the Vita. How hard would it have been to make a montage of whats on the horizon and been announced for the summer and fall?

they tried to get away from montages and do live gameplay this time around. honestly i would have preferred a video lol. at least you get more games to be seen in it.

im sure we'll get news why the lack of support tonight. maybe they were late to submit it or something.

I can understand how Vita owners feel, most 3DS owners remember it getting 'awkward'.
But theres no sudden burst or hope :/

All very shitty.

Ben Judd alluded to this on the 8-4 Play podcast. In short, he said Sony wasn't going to blow it out with the Vita, because they knows 3rd parties are super pessimistic about turning a profit on it. Instead, they would try to build moment in other ways.

They'll sell me... oh wait, I can get most of those on my PS3 that I already own.

Most of them? You're exaggerating.

Gravity Daze is the only compelling game on the Vita that I've seen thus far, and to see it swept under the rug like this is disheartening.

Could it be because you've already seen it?

Why spend time on it in a presser that only hardcore game-fans are going to watch? Its not going to raise its profile to any significant extent. You might as well just release a new promo over the larger E3 period and let the enthusiast press do their job.

Exactly, at least PSP would get montages, Vita got zip. Sony and fans of the Vita can't afford to continue to stick their heads in the sand and just hope the Vita will sell itself. This is Sony's new system that just released 4 months ago and you give it at most 5-10 minutes at your press conference that is meant to showcase to the public what you have in store for customers? The longer you wait to do something about your sales numbers, the harder it is to recover from mindshare and Sony already has a spotty record with support in the handheld market. They didn't announce the PS4, that is next year and is what next E3 will be all about so this E3 should have been all about Vita.

We may know about some games coming out and be anticipating them but to get it in the news and in the media for the average customer Sony needs to promote it and hype it, not depend on people on message boards.

Good points. I would have liked at least a 2 or 3 minute montage, showing some of the upcoming titles for the next few months. At least doing that it would have presented the appearance of having a strong pillar of support (regardless of whether it was truly strong or not).

What other ways? They sure as hell don't have the first-party stable to drive sales.

So, where were the first party games? Where's KZ?

hand it out when you buy a new Scion iQ.

The only thing I can think of is that their E3 conference was set in stone and they just don't have the gameplay footage ready yet to get gamers hyped. I honestly can't think of any other reason why there was so little focus on vita.

I think that the one audience for the Vita that Sony cannot afford to ignore are the people that like JRPGs, bullet hells, SRPGs, Demon/Dark Souls, and Wario Ware.

There aren't a lack of games imho.

There are though, a lack of games that would prompt most people to invest in another gaming platform when there are plenty of great games coming out for the PS3 that aren't coming to Vita.

Mobile gamers may have moved past the idea that they simply must have the same gaming experience they have on the road as the one they have when they are at home.

Spending 5 minutes showing off the game and acknowledging its coming out next week would have been 5 minutes well spent.

If you aren't going to drop the price on the system and if you're not going to make any huge blockbuster announcements then you have to emphasize what you have and work with it. It really does feel like Sony doesn't even care anymore, I really couldn't believe they didn't have a montage for the Vita.

They showed off as many Vita games during the pre-show than the actual show itself. That's just crazy.

Yeah, cause they showed us so much love in the PSP era, when we were the only ones keeping the system alive.

Am surprised everyone seems to want P4 golden.

If you haven't played P4 by now (or watched the giantbomb ER)... why are you on a video game forum? D:

I like you junior.

That's really counterintuitive.

"3rd parties are pessimistic, so we're not going to act like we'll support this system either!"

SEGA's thrown plenty of support at it.

Plenty? The biggest title they have for it is Hatsune Miku, which is a reasonably (if not massively) popular series in Japan, to be sure... but the announcement of a late PS3 port doesn't exactly suggest confidence in the platform.

There's a ton of pressure on the Vita Game Heaven now that Sony neglected the portable during E3. If they don't redeem themselves I'll start worrying.

Yeah, but if you're going to do that, why do it during your keynote? Just do it over E3 generally.

Did what Sony showed for PS3 represent the sum and total of the titles coming for that platform? No, of course it didn't. Not to mention that with the Vita only being on sale for 4 months the initial raft of launch titles shouldn't be being thrown under the bus this soon.

Yeah, cause they showed us so much love in the PSP era, when we were the only ones keeping the system alive.

I watch these E3s and shit and it's like we don't even exist or something. Too much on the line for a company to be so out of touch with their audiences. At least show a trailer montage of Vita games Sony, throw some FF Type 0, Dragon's Crown, Soul Sacrifice, etc. in there. I dunno, I just don't know...

James Mielke just tweeted that there are supposedly 30 Vita games on the show floor.

what the hell Sony.

This on top of "60 titles by the end of the year"=I'm not worried.

I'm already balls deep might as well play some good games on it. lol.

3DS has some good games, but not this many folks.

This is a fight they need to win in Japan first, so e3 is the least of their worries.

I love my Vita, and can't wait to get my hands on Persona 4 and Gravity Daze, but a little enthusiasm and a concrete image for the platform would do wonders for buyer confidence. The couple of us big fans on gaf can't move mountains for them.

Could be we like the game so much we want the definitive version of it.

I really wouldn't say that about P4G. The additions are minute at best, aside from Marie, and the PS2 version was already pretty damn meaty.

Heck, they said at the time they went out of their way to ensure there would be no P4'FES'.

They wanted it to be definitive out the gate.

A lot of games on the show floor? Where were the onstage demonstrations? New game announcements?

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of Vita games coming and I'll be buying a crap ton... but there are plenty of port jobs and what is there other than that and in the future? Not much.

Are you talking about actual Vita owners or everyone pretending to have a Vita so they can act disappointed?
He's probably talking about the users who I recognize from the Vita threads since the Japanese launch and purchased FEB bundles like myself.
