I don't get why the triggers are seemingly raised so much if they are not analogue. Perhaps he made a mistake and thought they were digital because they click like the GC ones did...:\.

Digital triggers are like normal buttons, like A and B. They only have on or off functionality. Analog triggers have positions in between on and off (as well as fully on and off).
Analog triggers are more necessary because the GCN had analog triggers. If Nintendo plans on releasing games like Super Mario Sunshine on the Virtual Console, for instance, they will need analog triggers (Sunshine had this to control the amount of water sprayed). Analog is also used in racing games to provide a better option than pedal on the floor or foot off the pedal (which would be the only choices digital triggers have). Analog triggers would also allow for easier porting because the 360 and PS3 (I think?) have analog triggers.

You can't play Melee or Mario Sunshine, to name two. That's pretty significant to me.
Digital triggers: Wii classic controller L2/R2, PS2 controller L2/R2
Analog triggers: GC controller L/R, 360 controller LT/RT, PS3 controller R2/L2
GC virtual console.
Apparently, they were on the CC and CCPro and I never had a problem with them.

Just wanted to second the feeling that it doesn't seem like a lot of non-Nintendo devs are having fun making their games these days.
Normally I try to take things with a big grain of salt before saying anyone has an agenda but it's beyond obvious at this point with this channel and their ilk. Makes you wonder what kind of incentive there possibly is for folks like Morgan to keep trolling like they do.

They are on the PS3/360 controllers but the only analog buttons Nintendo has ever had on a console are the L/R buttons on GameCube.
What's the advantage for a shoot game? It feels more like a trigger, which is sick, but I thought FPS essentially use them as digital. Uncharted uses the digital triggers for shooting.
Don't get me wrong. Pretty dumb for Nintendo not to include it.

Because you're asking people to buy am extra peripheral for one genre to make up for what has otherwise been a controller standard for the entire generation.
No analogue triggers would be a seriously dumb oversight by Nintendo. It does them no good, only harm.

I just found out for nearly like a half a decade, I have been playing with a PS2 controller which apparently is fake.
I just checked my original controller, and indeed L2/R2 are analog; but not on my replacement controller
oh god, the REVELATION! I think I have found one [main] reason passing GT4 licenses became so frustrating compared to what I remembered from GT3

Well more so racing games, although I think people are apt to press down fully or give a quick tap. F-Zero GX on the GC put them to great use, so Nintendo should see their benefit. Shooters do not really use them at any significant degree, as they are all multiplat with the PC. However as I mentioned earlier, it just seems like a completely pointless thing not to include.
They're technically playable, just no fine control over gas/brake. So it's like all on or all off.
Usually racing wheels re-implement this on digital-trigger only consoles by having the brake/gas pedals actually be X/Y axis inputs on the controlstick 'channel'. That's how N64 racing wheels did analog gas pedals if they had the function.
I am really unhappy about having no analog triggers, it makes GCN virtual console seem much less likely, which was one of the possibilities I was most excited about with the Wii U.
Unless Nintendo decides to try and make even more money off accessories by making a wavebird for Wii U. Usable only for virtual console titles.

Has anyone thought of great racing ideas for the tablet? If not, developers could just use the Wii remote again (unlikely, but possible). If the stand thing goes into use much, you could just put the gamepad on the stand and use it as a rearview mirror/map.
The more I think about that idea, the more unlikely it seems. Oh well, just make the all of the main triggers analog, Nintendo.

It's already 800x240. They can just do a bit of vertical pixel doubling (and making the horizontal resolution like my 3D phone where you get all 800 dots across in 2D mode instead of having to do horizontal pixel doubling whenever 3D is off), and add a pretty small border on the sides, and little is lost.
I'm pretty annoyed at the implication that the revision won't be DS compatible.

my real life example:
I can barely finish GT4 licenses; I bought the game like 2 years ago while I had a replacement controller
I had finished lots of GT3 licenses.
My main problems were [are, I tried two weeks ago no luck ] on the turns; to pass turns speed control prior to the turn and acceleration during the turn is very important
For shooters, I believe it is used to get the weapon ready for fire or something; never played shooters out of Wii and PC; but I guess if PC is fine without out analogs, so will be the Wii U
But for racers it is really serious; unless you bind brake to face buttons too
for arcades maybe; but for simulation it is 'impossible' to play properly without analog acceleration and brake
that's really unintuitive, there's a reason controllers evolved

Right, it's awesome, but people shouldn't be expected to buy peripherals or use alternatives to a controller that is specifically targeting the traditional market. Making a controller that is supposed to replicate the 360/PS3 controller and excluding a standard feature is silly.

AC3 was announced yes.
Ubisoft hasnt updated their site at all yet for Wii U stuff. Even the links they put in the PR releases arent up yet. You click Wii U on Ubis site and it says nothing found.
