PS Vita general advice thread, part 3 | Veni, vidi, Vita

I think using the store on Vita is a lot better than using the store on PS3. The PS3 Store has soooo many directories and folders, many with the same games you can find inside other folders, it can get confusing.

If they had brain they would give you ability to que downloads from Vita and have PS3 download them while you are going home.

Such BS that sites are flat out reporting this as NEWS with absolutely no evidence.

If it was shown at E3, pay up (with pics and videos) or STFU.

Some of us fans would really love this to happen, and don't deserve to any heartache over it being BS :)

This old? Amazon listing Soul Sacrifice for March 13, 2013...

Damn 2013? very crowded first half of the year.

So it seems Play Asia annouced the rumored Kingdom Hearts Compilation for Vita in its video ?

noone posted this ?

Sounds too good to be true. why has there been no news out of E3?

Reposting from the other thread:

I haven't read anything about getting both for the price of one.
It's on many other platforms including XBLA and Wiiware. So doubtful.

It supports continuous play, however.

While adding the PS+ content to my basket today I also decided to add the Batman DLC and Mutant Blobs for the Vita.

My first Vita game since launch day taking my total now to 8.

I also sent a tweet to Yoshida asking if Sony had learned anything from E3 to take into Gamescom and TGS and another to Evolution to ask if there will be any more festivals for Motorstorm.

Yesterday I asked Yoshida about Joystiq saying PS1 games would be released gradually, why gradually and how gradually, he replied with "please wait for an official announcement"

Haven't seen this posted yet. From IGN:

The PlayStation Network is crowded with games to download and play, but for many old-school gamers, the PSone Classics library, hundreds of titles strong, is where the action’s at. But ever since the PlayStation Vita was launched, complaints about how Sony’s new handheld couldn’t play PSone Classics remained consistently loud. Thankfully, those complaints can soon subside, because a firmware update for Vita, launching soon, will rectify the situation.

At E3, Sony showed-off a new firmware-equipped PlayStation Vita with seven playable PSone Classics: Final Fantasy VII, Cool Boarders 2, Wild Arms, Arc the Lad, Tomb Raider, Jet Moto and Twisted Metal 2. I spent a brief amount of time with Final Fantasy VII, and what I found is pretty much what you’d expect. Final Fantasy VII looked and played just like the real thing, and that’s all you really want, right?

Interestingly, the firmware on the Vita I was using seemed to be incomplete. The Sony representative I was with told me that all manner of extras were being added to make the future firmware update as complete as possible. For instance, PSone Classics were only controllable with the directional pad on the Vita I was using, but left analog stick support was promised. PSone Classics that take advantage of L2 and R2 buttons will allow the use of Vita’s back touch pad on the left and right side, respectively, in order to replicate those buttons’ functionality. And strangely, some sort of widescreen support was promised. When I inquired whether that meant that the picture would be improperly stretched or if the support would still somehow retain PSone games’ native aspect ratio (which is 4:3), I never received a satisfactory answer.

The best news of all, however, is that if you already own a PSone Classic, whether on PS3 or PSP or both, you won’t have to purchase the game again. All you’ll have to do is connect your Vita to your PS3 or directly to the PlayStation Network and transfer the game(s) desired from your purchased items list. And if you don’t own a PSone Classic and want to play it on Vita, there will be no restrictions. Every game currently available in the PSone Classics catalog will be available for play on Vita with no exceptions.

Lol, I was holding out for gamescom to bring the Vita megaton goods but now it looks like Sony might not even attend.

Speaking to Games Industry Germany's Christoph Holowaty, SCE's German communications director Guido Alt said that a decision is yet to be reached on whether or not the platform holder will have a presence at the show.

"We have to judge if it makes sense to exhibit at gamescom every year," said Alt. "We are still negotiating with Koelnmesse. What I can say is that we did not sign a contract so far."

I actually think the analog stick problem was actually due to a lot of earlier PS1 games not actually having analog support. so the sticks on the vita is unused

Same thing happens with the PS3's psx emulator.

Hopefully they let us remap the L stick to the Dpad for games that didn't have it.

That's what I am thinking, they already did it for the PSP games so it isn't a stretch to say they will do the same for PSone Classics. Confirmation of the back touchpad for R2 and L2 is nice as well.

Wow I didn't remember I ordered this before it was announced for Euroland (now I will get two).

Gravity Rush is available in some Canadian/US stores.

Which US stores are shipping?

Still finding the wording confusing, so does it seem that once the firmware comes out you can transfer any PS1 games you already have got through PS3 to your Vita? Or will it be like the PSP situation and they will be releasing them over time as it seemed from what they said at E3?

I hope its the former as i have all 3 Resident Evil games waiting to be played, and im interested in picking up most of the FF games as its been years since i played them all and i dont want to wait till its compatible.

I got burned with Killzone Liberation on PSP as its not compatible in the UK for Vita yet, even though it is in the US.

Sounds like if you own it, you can just transfer it over from your PS3 no problem. If not, just buy it from the PSvita PSstore.

Nice to know, people are too quick to jump on the negative bus instead of just waiting for a proper answer.

Cool, hopefully wont be that long away. Now where is my AR update so I can see my ships flying around on my toilet seat or something!

Also guys, Yoshida is on IGNs Podcast Beyond tonight. He is always an interesting guy to listen to and you can be sure the Vita is going to come up.

and then there's sound shapes. this is my game of the show. rayman legends had this great segment where you platform along to music, every jump coming at a beat, and the ropes correlating to guitar parts. sound shapes is like if they took that concept and just made a full game out of it. the game is more about the platforming that the music, and the game doesn't make the music based on the syncing of your platforming. however the more stuff you collect, the fuller the song becomes. the levels i played were very well designed, and the extremely simple look of the game works well in its favor. afterwards, i was shown how to use the editor, and the game actually has a small interactive tutorial anyway. a lot of it used the rear touch pads on the vita, and i thought it worked great, and probably a lot better than a ps3 controller would. this information is probably known, but you'll be able to get the ps3 and vita version together when the game launches, and it's going to go on sale for $14.99. i don't want to sound like i'm shilling for the game, but it's a pretty good price if there are a lot of challenging levels and the game lasts a while. it was one of the few games at the show i came back to later to try again.

Thanks for this, hopefully my wallet decides to speak to me again by the time this comes out.

some of the games coming to vita got me to wipe the dust off and try again. playing hot shots tennis and maybe gravity rush if this demo impresses me.

also, youre almost there with the psp titles sony.....work on burnout and defjam please.

Protip for Canada-GAF who want MGS Vita and/or Gravity Rush for half price.

Wal-Mart is selling FFXIII-2 for 20$ and that title is (still) eligible for a trade 1 get 1 offer at FutureShop for the new Vita releases next week.

I'm dazzled by these offers, I got MK and Resistance with the t1g1 and I was supposed to go all-in digital with the Vita and now I have all those carts.

Sweet, his last interview by the ign gang was great, he was really quite frank on it, hopefully he'll explain the lack of vita at the conference.

Finally someone asked some questions and got some answers instead of just assuming things. So all games will work, not some sort of compatibility stuff like the PSP games.

Sounds like the reason this took Sony so long is because they've written a completely new PS1 emulator for the Vita. The PSP doesn't even have universal compatibility with the PS Classics complete line.

Maybe the delay was due to them planning to go emulator within emulator PS1 > PSP > Vita at first while this was finished, then once this was ready roll it out in a later firmware update. When the PSP emulator was compromised Sony scuttled that plan for fear of further insecurity.

Yeah, these trade one deals have been fantastic.

Sounds great! Been waiting for PS1 games on the Vita, been itching to play through the RE and FF games for a while now and wanted to wait for on the go.

Now we just play the waiting game :)

What's the point of sending him that? That'll show him.

i think they know. wasn't last E3 it was just videos. they tried this year with demos and look how that turned out.

I don't think they know shit. It's not like this is a complicated recipe to figure out. You've got a handheld that the whole world is watching go down in flames, at least to a degree, so you decide to damn near ignore it during your E3 conference?

Then we later find out there are significant games coming that they just didn't bother to show us.

That's just dumb. No other way of saying it. In certain ways Sony just doesn't get it. They really don't.
