MLG: Halo 4 War Games/Spartan Ops Full Match Videos

Looks like it will be fun but I'm not a fan of the HUD at all. I don't like the Call of Duty-esque info appearing in the middle of the screen with a CoD-type point system (+10 kill, +5 assist, etc.). The information on the side of the screen "X killed Y" is also hard to read.

I'm also iffy about the loadout system. I kind of liked in previous halos how everyone started with a BR and pistol and you had to fight over and find the better weapons. Now everyone will just pick the medium strength weapons to begin with and you lose that beginning scramble. It's another CoD thing they're taking.

So basically they are trying to turn Halo into CoD in some aspects and aside from the ugly HUD it does look fun but time will tell how it compares to the Bungie Halos.
 
Nope, you can clearly say that it looks and plays like Halo.

Indeed, it plays so very differently from COD. Sure, the personal ordnance drops being Killstreak-like and the loadouts do ressemble COD but the gameplay is nothing alike. Just a Halo that is faster than Reach.

OP, you should fix the titles of the videos. I clicked Hoaxer on Haven.. it was actually on Adrift. I know MLG screwed it up, but you don't have to. ;)
 
PV doesnt seem all that over powered. is it just me, or are the enemy players extremely faint and difficult to spot unless they are fairly close? of course this could very well be magnified as a result of seeing it in less than ideal conditions. it does seem like its pretty spammable, a slower recharge might be preferable.

the PP fucking dominates though. looks like it tracks very well.
 
at 7:50 on the Elamite on Adrift (not Haven) he shoots the sticky detonator, then quickly switches to the BR and the sticky never goes off. odd?

EDIT: nevermind. after the engagement, he switches back to it and it has the pda display out to activate it and you can actually hear the projectile "counting down" to detonation on its own time limit before it explodes at 8:08

It mentions in one of the Developer Commentaries that you have to press the Right Trigger again to detonate it.

The thing gets probably disarmed if switching weapons.. you know, to prevent accidental detonation, in case friendly fire is enable. Or it is a bug in this build.

thats what i thought about it getting disarmed when weapon was switched (i'm aware you have to "shoot" again to detonate) - but see my edit above
 
Oh, ok. So you can now use something else after firing the launcher, unlike in Reach where the thing goes off when switching weapons.

A whole new attachment section adds onto the Magnum and this little screen pops out. Not sure what info it shows or how detailed it is. Maybe it shows if you managed to tag someone or if someone is close to the grenade or not. Cannot tell from the footage.
 
I love the grenade and atmospheric sounds but I'm not digging the weapon sounds. They don't sound like rifles firing. Maybe it's just lost in the video quality.
 
They do have outdoor looking levels with green and stuff right? >.>

i think the weapons sound good, but only the players. the sounds really sound dampened for everyone else around the player
 
Looking very tasty indeed. Seeing so many little moments where in Reach you would die, but in this, you can pull off something ridiculous and have that "little hero moment" that elevates Halo above over shooters. (For me anyway)

I hope the MLG guys gets some HD feeds up sooner rather than later.
 
Please just let me go to sleep and wake up at November 6, seriously this looks incredible. I'm so fucking hyped for this game I can not even describe it.
 
Lighting & shadows look really nice in those vids.

Like the sound of all the changes listed except Prometheus Vision. I'm sure it's cool in sp and co-op, but not in mp. There needs to be multiple counters to that power. Personally, I'd rather it not be in the game. It removes tactics from the game; ambushes, flanking, surprise attacks, decoys...all useless movements when everyone can see where everyone is.

Really wish the game were running at 60fps, too. Starting to like the trend on console shooters, with - CoD, RAGE, Gears, Doom3BFG, & Counterstrike GO (which comes out Aug 21) all doing it.
 
My favourite feature of all these videos is that dead spartans no longer drop grenades. Grenade spam was my least favourite part of Halo games. Throwing grenades is now a tactical decision, not a reflex.
 
That looked... awful.

Promethean vision especially. It was being spammed, quite often, by everyone.

Has 343i confirmed a regular Halo playlist? You know, everyone spawns with the same weapons, weapons on the map, no AA, no perks, no load-outs, no drops. You know.... Halo.
 
It looks great, much better than I expected.

The only thing that's bugging me is the BR. Something about the auto aim and magnetism, combined with the reticle size and maybe the spread. It's just off. Giving me Halo 3 vibes where shots aren't connecting when they should.
 
Will there be a skill based ranking system like in Halo 3 ?

I hate that multiplayer games nowadays don't require actual skill to achieve a high rank.

That's one of the reasons why I think that Halo 3 is still the best multiplayer game, there is no way you can get to level 50 without skill, hell skill is not enough you have to be a pro to get a 50 in most playlists.
