PS Vita general advice thread, part 3 | Veni, vidi, Vita

The guys on podcast beyond really hammered Shuhei Yoshida about it, he said it's a very complicated issue because the PS3 is much older than the Vita, that it was the first Sony console with networking from the get-go and even still the Vita is leaps and bounds above the PS3 in terms of networking. He said it's a known issue, but it's also very complicated. I'm right there with you, I want to just view my trophies on my PS3.

I really have a feeling either one of these two will happen:

1) It won't happen until the PS4

Or

2) Vita trophies will have their own separate tab on the PS3 interface, and they won't fully integrate into PS3 trophies.

wow... so even the cross play for LBP is a gimmick. come....on...... just as I started to get at least a little bit excited about the vita.

Yeah, because who wants to have all those unique features and have the ability to play separately in the same level across the PS3 and the Vita. Who in their right mind would want all that gimmicky stuff

/sarcasm.

I'm a step away from buying the Vita. Stop tempting me, Amazon, for your amazing prices shall not have reward.

...bought the wifi version for 208€. Seems like a great deal, and I don't think the price is going to get lower than 200€, at least during this year.

No it's not complicated. How hard is it to sync 2 devices when both are connected to the same network with the same Username?

I used to care but then i realized i haven't played my PS3 more than 30 minutes ever since i got my Vita :)

Not to mention there are literally dozens of "fan sites" out there that can see ALL your trophies.

All the data is stored online. Your info and the images. All it takes is a couple lines of code to show them on the PS3.

I wonder if the issue is more with the games that are both on Vita and PS3, such as Hustle Kings. Maybe they're just having trouble making two games that have the same trophies interface together? I dunno...

I don't think it has anything to do with the network, the PS3 is the problem.
Trophies were an afterthought that they put in, I imagine the XMB is a pain in the ass to work with considering all the chopping and optimising they did to cut it down to the below 50MB it uses now from 120 it use originally.

It doesn't help that it is all seemingly controlled from Japan, they have a surprisingly slow turn around sometimes.

you're listening. but you're not hearing :) ...

It's easy to be oh so tough reviewer with strict scores against tier B franchise without dedicated fanbase - makes you more credible when you give 10s to newest super hyped multimilion marketing budget crap ;)

yep, it's not complicated. encourages you to save your money for the 10s...

Might also help to give rough sizes for digital games. I'm not really an expert here, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

PS1: Typical sizes are about 300MB-400MB per disc. Largest is FFVIII at 1.78GB.

PSP: Typical sizes are about 0.5GB to 1.5GB. Largest is MGS Peace Walker at 1.38GB plus an optional 330MB data install.

PSV: Typical sizes are about 1GB to 3GB. Largest is BlazBlue CSE at 3.33GB, but MGS HD might set a new record.

How big is Golden Abyss??

That particular one even shows you your rarest trophies and milestones.
Graphs too: http://psnprofiles.com/Goldrusher/stats

All that data is stored online. Your info and the images. All it takes is a couple lines of code to show that on the PS3.

The stats keeping on that site is ridiculously awesome. I'd say Sony should just buy them out and integrate all of this into the official site but that might be a bad thing.

This is the power of an App, and the reason why they should do PS Mobile on PS3 as well, or some similar form of App. That way, they can keep the trophy synching and display simple in XMB but allow you to see more detailed stuff on your PS3 as well.

Sweet site by the way.Shows I have 12 Ultra Rare trophies, wonder what they are, don't see a way of showing that.

EDIT: Found a bunch of Ultra Rare trophies in Sports Champions. Figured it'd be something like that, some relatively casual title that I played 'hardcore' ;)

LBP Vita and the Cross Play feature are two entirely separate things.

You can own LBP2 on your PS3, download the upcoming patch, and have cross play without ever buying LBP Vita.

You could also just have LBP Vita and not miss anything if you don't own LBP2 or even a PS3.

Cross Play is a new feature for LBP2 on PS3 whereby one can sync a Vita to the PS3 and use it for a wide variety of expanded things within LBP2, such as:
1. Asynchronous multiplayer
2. Touch screen level building
3. Designing levels specifically for use by people playing with a synced Vita (and the control inputs offered by it).

Meanwhile LBP Vita will be it's own game that will utilize many of the same touch screen level building/design aspects, but will be built for the Vita specifically.

What you are speaking of sounds more like being able to Remote Play LBP2 on the Vita. Which has yet to be mentioned. Seeings how the game will offer asynchronous multiplayer through the Vita it seems highly likely to be added as one of the first Remote Play capable games, but no word on that yet.

If Remote Play is added to LBP2 it would basically make it the poster child for all the readily obvious good implementations of the Wii U's new control system, before the Wii U is even out. That'd be rather interesting.

So .. I bought Ridge Racer for my Vita .. Ridge Racer PSP that is. Take that Namco .. oh wait :) Seriously though, I couldn't "break-in" my Vita without a Ridge Racer title.

Saw a new ad here in Australia, advertising free 4gb memory card with a 3g Vita. Most people would assume its just a 4gb SD card, not some shitty slow proprietary Sony card, so I doubt it'll have much impact, given a 4gb SD can be had for about 5 bucks. Even 8gb would seem low.

Have they announced plans to bring Netflix to the UK PSN on Vita yet? I know it's been out on the US store for ages but I don't really want to go through making a US account, formatting the card, changing sign ins etc if I don't have to - or is there an easier way?

Wish they'd just bring it out over here, it's not like the app will change.

Just got this game through play-asia. Having a blast so far. I only wish this game isn't dedicated to SEED and Destiy series. At least they got most (maybe all?) of MSs from SEED/Destiny. Want to unlock Strike Noir badly!

Aw yiss, love me some Astray. How playable is it for someone who doesn't know a lick of Japanese? I might pick up a copy before I leave China.

He's even got the PS3 version.

He's a MGS fiend!

uh ya... lessee... I have bought (day one):

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (XBox)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 2: The Essential Collection (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3)

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 3: The Essential Collection (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3)
Metal Gear Solid 3DS

So, now with the Vita qHD Collection, I will have SIX different versions of each of MGS2 and MGS3...

Basically, I have too much time/money/storage space... :/

Anyway, it's going to be so hard deciding between Gravity Daze and MGS3 tomorrow when I get home from work!!

I once had/still have all of those:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2 - Gone)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2 EU - Gone)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (XBox - Gone)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (PC)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3)

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2 - Gone)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3)
Metal Gear Solid 3DS

I also plan on having MGSVita tomorrow. I simply love these games :P
(The choice between MGSVita and Gravity Rush will be easy, I'm getting both with the trade 1 get 1 offer)

I think you should go with Gravity Daze.

Was so close to picking up a vita today as part of the vita + 4 gb + resistance or fifa bundle for 250 euro, but then I remebmered the US 50$ giftcard deal and the France only 50 bucks rebate option and got jealous and left it :(...

Picking my copy up tomorrow during lunch from Best Buy. Thanks to that awesome PS Plus update, I was able to trade in some PS3 games and get that 100% bonus (seemed like a good time to finally get rid of LittleBigPlanet 1).

make a US account, download the app, switch back to the UK and the app will still work.

i'm using the US app on my UK PSN account Vita and UK netflix login.

Or just wait, I'm sure it won't be long.

doh, end of June for MGS for us Europeans :/

Tempted to buy the physical cards online for price (£10 cheaper) but also tempted to buy from PSN for convenience.

True though I think MGS would effectively kill most of my available memory card space lol. I prefer physical copies anyway but I am really going to need that space once the PSone BC hits, not to mention the PSP games I plan on buying/rebuying (Ragnarok Tactics and Growlanser IV).

I've been buying physical cards just so I can have my 8 gig memory card last as long as possible. I'm hoping Sony drops the price on those 32 gigs. $100 is ridiculous. Even the $80 I've seen them for is STILL ridiculous.

do we have a size for MGS? Gravity daze is only 1.3GB, i have plenty of space for that. But MGS might be huge

Yup same boat I'm in. The funny part is I have a 16GB card in my 3DS and don't really care for the eShop game selection, I have an 8GB card in my Vita and there are about 15 PSP game I want, plus the almost 50 PSone games I am just waiting to get on my Vita.

I'm not sure but, I mean if BlazBlue is 3.3GB and Resistance is 3GB I would have to think MGS would have to be at least that.

Oh boy am I glad that I sent Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 back to LoveFilm today. They just added Gravity Rush to my queue which means they have it. I made that high priority and everything else (only have Vita games) low priority.

It's bittersweet that I have a good chance of getting it because there are probably very few people on the service that either have a Vita or want Gravity Rush.

Just ordered the HORI line of Vita products. Screen protector, grip, and carrying case for $20 after using my Amazon bonus points (<3 Amazon).

All in ladies and gents. So excited!

Not looking forward to applying the screen protector when I get a vita. I always mess those up :(.

Where do you guys order your hori stuff? amazon.de/co.uk are out of the hori screen protector last time I checked.

Same here. I might take it to my local ATT store so the rep I'm good with can do it for me. I ALWAYS screw up the screen protector. Never fail at failing.
