I think the new systems look great. Simple and plastic-y, a lot like the DSi XL but more rounded. I dig it. I think I'll get a blue one.
The thing that irritates me, though, is that I likely won't be able to have my downloaded games on both a 3DS and 3DS XL at the same time, even though I'll own both. I wish Nintendo would just let me create a singular account so I could access my games on all the devices I own, like Apple does.
The way I see it, I'll probably carry the 3DS around with me since it's smaller, but play the XL most of the time when I'm home or on vacation or something. I'll have use for both, so it's lame that my content will only be allowed on one.

Which is sad, because such a hack will probably allow for piracy.
Console makers need to stop making their platform a target for legitimate hacking.
Yeah this sucks, but you can see why they do it this way. They wouldn't currently have a way of keeping like 50 people from just sharing an account.

It's always been a tough decision whether to play DS games on 3DS or DSi XL...with 3DS you get analog stick and Activity Log data but a terrible small screen. With 3DS XL we can possibly have big screen, Activity Log, and analog stick with no cons.

No. The EU stream CONFIRMED that the AC adapter will be sold separately in the UK and EU. This really needs to be added to the OP.
USA/Canada = AC adapter and 4GB SD card included in the box.
Everywhere else = Just a 4GB SD Card included, AC adapter sold separately.

3DS looks pretty great, but as soon as you get your fingerprints and what not over it... yuck.

I don't think you'll ever see a second stick 3DS. The Circle Pro has two extra buttons as well, and to put that on a 3DS will make that thing a fat little bastard.

I think that's probably happening again, but note 100% yet I don't think. If isn't locked, I'll definitely import a White, plus for all the exclusive eShop games and retail games.
You can bet your entire life savings, everything you own and your family on the fact that the 3DS XL will be region locked.
It's going to be the same goddamn firmware as on the standard 3DS. Of course it'll be region locked.

I really do find it unlikely to see the loss of region locking in a revision of any game console.... If it's already a part of the platform makers' guarantee to developers, it's unlikely to see them ever go back on that.

Ugh. How can they possibly expect people to try and use their online shop when you can just lose your ambassador status or the games you paid for so easily. The whole point of an online store is that it can be used on any device, blaaah.
Here's hoping they hit the 3ds with an account style update when this new one launches.

Use someone else's 3DS as temporary storage. You'd lose one extra of your 5 transfers, but you'd keep all your stuff.

Or is this just referring to overall system size, not screen? I'm sure screen would still be bigger if system was bigger though.

My fear is that the 3D won't work as good. I have a 3D photo frame, and it seems the larger the screen, the harder it is to be centered perfectly in front of it for the full 3D effect.

Because:
It'd fragment the existing 3DS owning population. A revision with a second stick would result in games being developed for it, which the majority of the market would not be able to play. The CPP is hardly widely available, and even if it was, other add-ons in the past such as Motion Plus and the N64 Expansion Pak prove that it would cause customer confusion and fragmentation of not only the consumers, but of the developers too.
It's never going to happen. Give it up, seriously.

I assume gamestop are nice enough for you to tear open the 3ds XL and do the transfer before you hand them your system right?
I'm curious why there hasn't been any screenshots of the back of the 3ds XL. Will it still have the prongs for some kind of dock (sold separately), will you be able to remove the battery slot like the 3ds?

I just messed with the system transfer button and the first thing it does is connect to the internet to see if you can attempt a system transfer. Seems totally impractical to do in a store.

Lack of the second circle pad was surprising but the redesign is just fantastic. Looks like the rumors were correct. Almost all screen and looks like fun to use. Nice and large like all phones today.
