I have such mixed feelings about this.ni don't play the 3DS much at the moment, but this Christmas there are a bunch of games coming that I want. And that screen looks great,nandn3D should be better.

I don't care if crap 3D graphics will look crappier - nintendo games like mario 3D look clean and crisp so they should translate well to the larger screen

In 1:1 mode, it'll be just like the DS Lite.

yep DS games in 1:1 mode should be roughly the same size as a regular DS lite screen, with black borders filling up the rest of the XL screen.

The Silver/Black is the one I'm thinking about.

That kind of defeats the purpose of being an XL.. I already have a Lite.

If you do fullscreen you'll get the same slightly blurry image that the 3DS has... just larger.

Man, the fact White isn't leaving Japan (yet) really gets to me. That looks like a perfect compliment to the Wii U, and it seems maybe that blue will be lighter than I like afterall.

Peopel who say because of the larger screen it will look worse, should just see the improvement from Lite to DSi XL.

Though, I will wait for screen quality impressions before deciding to buy; if it is improved like DSi XL, then it will be well worth the lower ppi.

DS games will look the same as on DS XL, which is a render I didn't like. Hopefully non 2D 3DS games will transfer better on the bigger screen.

The whole power adapter being sold separately in Jap/EU is ridiculous, it doesn't make sense at all.

People who already own a 3DS who want to upgrade will trade in their old 3DS with its power adapter. They will all need to buy an adapter separately!!!!

If you boot them in 1:1 mode (hold down select), they'll look identical to how they would on a Lite. Same resolution, and on the 3DS XL, the same size.

With pixelization though. EDIT: I meant in full screen, now I get what you meant = it can boot DS games at their original size. I now see how it is a good news. Though it may not be practical to reach certain parts of the screen in some touchscreen games.

I'll probably get the JP white one to replace my regular JP 3DS, but only after I try it out. I didn't like the DSi XL because it wasn't comfortable to hold.

The silver/black one looks too much like an Asus or Acer laptop from a few years back.

Should add to the OP: doesn't include cradle in Europe, not sure about other regions.

On the Nintendo Direct EU video they showed an adapter pack to be sold separately, and then an adaptor + cradle pack to be sold separately.

Nope. 1:1. Think that through.
It'll be there just due to the pixels being huge, but the pixel structure will take the edge off. That's also why wanting a higher resolution is ignorant: those games are still going to run at the same resolution, at best you do doubling and get it to look like the Vita, either without a filter or with bilinear filtering. And while that's preferable to DS games on the 3DS when stretched out it's still less ideal than native resolution.

the AC adapter sold separately is a nonsense!!!

WTF nintendo
If you're in North America: Don't worry about it, we'll have it. Sounds like it's a Japanese thing to not bother, maybe due to hardware upgrading or whatever, not sure if that's the same rationale for dumping it in Europe though.

Totally uninterested (DSi XL was the only version of that handheld that I skipped), due to the fact that I love to have my portable consoles with me, and the size of this, as for the DSi XL or Vita, are too big.
I recognize that it is quite sexy, and that the improved battery life is a good thing.

Same res? Ugh, I think the OG 3DS looks ancient as it is...

How exactly would you recommend they increase the resolution on a console with set specifications, including a set resolution in games hardcoded to 800x240?

How exactly would Nintendo be able to achieve an increase in resolution without extra processing power? How would this affect cost? How would this affect backwards compatibility with the millions of 3DS's currently on the market?

Think that through.

It's region free, right???

What do you honestly think?

was day 1 on one of these at first, but i think i'm gonna wait until they release a color i actually want. hopefully without that two toned black thing going on.

orange/pink/green/yellow/something plz.
