Could. The. Sopwith. Be. Any. Bigger?

Fuck me, though. Hands-down the best $110 I've spent on Lego; parity with the US for once! Such an amazingly beautiful set. It is huge, though. Displaying is an issue. I am toying with the idea of hanging it somehow, but I don't know how I feel about nearly 900 pieces suspended in the air...

Also, is there any chance that we'll see any more Dark Knight themed sets with the release of The Dark Knight Rises? I really want a tumbler.

Slim to no chance, this time leading up to the Avengers movie the sets were out the sets themselves were announced and revealed months before. We haven't heard peep about tie in sets. For example there was an recent announcement for sets based on The Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, both of which are still in production.

You could just vote for my Tumbler on CUUSOO or order the parts for it on Bricklink and put it together with my instructions.

In related news I started work on by custom tactical vest for Bane, to be made using 3D printing via shapeways. It's work in progress at the moment, in the block out stage so it needs some cleanup work and I think I've been too detailed around the belt area which I don't think will work well on the final print. Critiques welcome.

I really want to avoid getting into the modulars. I have seen videos of multiples pieced together and they are BIG. I love it, but I can't commit to the space requirements :(

Fire brigade is $10 off on amazon today, btw.

They really don't take up that much space - you could fit a row of them on a shelf

That's the thing with Lego. So many hidden costs in the way of shelving and storage. The Modulars would be pretty heavy, too. My walls can only put up with so much stress!

Crap! I finally got the money for Lego Minecraft and it went from $35-$50 on Amazon. Does anyone know where I can find it cheaper. Is it in any physical store?

Two large pick a brick cups and the Death Star. Toyed with getting more, but that hurts enough. It was down to the Deatg Star, or R2+pet shop+camper. Death Star is not long for this world so went with that. Even got one still in the outer cardboard shipping box. Totally virgin.

Death Star is awesome. You should watch Episode IV while building it.

Good choice. Spent several days putting that one together. Great set. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

While looking through the toy stores LEGO section, I finally decided to look at these LEGO Super Heroes Build-able Figures series. I've been ignoring these since the DC sets. Never even bothered with Bionicles & that other theme. They looked boring to me & I couldn't see the appeal. Then on one tiny little corner at the back of the Iron man box I saw it. I immediately bought these two on the spot just to build it.

CIVIL WAR!!! Love it, only because I read the comic.

I nabbed the garbage truck and ambulance to go along with the Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium. My wife also felt out (so she thinks) the majority of series 7 figures we are missing.

Do any of the others join up like that? Maybe all the Marvel or DC ones combine to form Megazord.

I know series 7 is old news to a lot of you guys, but I am still trying to fill holes in my set. So when I saw a row of them at walgreens today in-between the MLP:FiM and angry birds packs I spent a little time and felt through them. It was worth it.

Here are the ones I needed before the purchase of 6 packs. Ones marked in bold are the ones I got during this haul:

  • Bunny Suit Guy
  • Daredevil
  • Computer Programmer
  • Ocean King
  • Grandma Visitor
  • Swimming Champion
  • Jungle Boy

The other two were Galaxy Patrol (extras of these are ALWAYS welcome!) and Rocker Girl.

I practically couldn't have been happier unless I got to pick them out myself!

I still really want Bunny Suit Guy. Daredevil would be nice, too. Don't really care about Swimming Champ... though that would make it a complete set

I might go back tomorrow and try my luck for Bunny. But it's going to be a challenge. Can't wait for series 8 so I can just split a case and not have to go through this :P

Is that mostly the heads? Couldn't you get close with some 2x2 cylinders, topped with a 2x2 round tile, and a sticker on the front?

I was thinking of how they'd do it - and that's nearly the exact way I figured, haha. It could work, but it would probably lose the charm.

As someone who does not own an XBox I have no idea what that theme is about :p I'd much, much rather see them do the Western stuff. So I can do some Dark Tower MOCs

Just jumped on Cuusoo and god, that EVE Online Rifter ship is quite ugly; definitely a case of fanbase merit, rather than build merit.

EDIT: Not that I could do any better, mind you... :)

Inventoried my two pick a brick cups I snagged today. My first time ever doing it.

Cup 1
6x16 dark grey plate- 12
1x4 gray brick- 24
1x2 clear brick-46
Plant- 33
1x10 white brick -11
126 bricks
The plates took up tons of space, and were hard to compact in to get more bricks in.

Cup 2
1x1bar brick-64
2x2x2 gray slope -16
1x2 brown dec brick -59
1x2 tan dec brick- 68
1x10 white brick -31
Flower stems- 41
Flowers- 17
1x2 clear plate- 104
1x1 clear plate- 108
1x1 clear yellow plate- 110
618 bricks

744 bricks total
2.48 cents per brick

Basically I have lots of clear bricks now. Nice. Wish I had grabbed more 1x10 bricks for building walls. Oh well.

Also mad that I forgot to stockpile chairs. They had tons of brown and red chairs and got excited, but forgot to stuff them in last :(.

I hope the seaside house comes out in the uk soon, looks good with the lighthouse.

Phoniclebone - some nice swag, I never see big plates at our Lego pickabrick wall, and 1x10 bricks are very useful. But as you say, not exactly ideal for efficient cup cramming :)

I've recently come into possession of an extra CMF Mummy and an extra Skeleton Barbossa from the Isla de Muerta set. I'm willing to trade straight up for another minifigure, or from some parts I'm seeking, like transparent blue 1x2 bricks. Message moi if interested!

Everybody check your Barnes and Noble stores! They are having a 50% off clearance on games and I found a Lego set that was marked down. It was a Cars set (I don't remember which one right now) but I'll take any set for half off.

Why order from Amazon when Lego S@H has it for $35? Unless you're not in the US...

Also, anyone know how long it takes to get parts from Lego? I ordered some last week, so just wondering what the turn-around time is from Denmark.

The Minecraft set is cool (I have one), but I feel like you probably need 4-6 sets to make a really nice display piece. One is just too small, really.

The PAB stuff comes from Poland, so it took like a month when I got some. Their customer service deliveries are much faster for some reason.

Seconded. I saw a couple Cars sets for half off at my B&N as well. Fortunately, I'm not much into Cars and was, therefore, not overly tempted. =)

I really like the Minecraft set.

But not this much:

If there's a Lego store in Seattle I should just make a trip over there sometime - there's a ferry that goes there, I hop in my car and go. And if I buy a few larger sets I'll save enough money with the US discount and lack of shipping to compensate for the cost of the ferry in the first place.

Maybe later this year when I've saved up some extra cash for my Grand Emporium.

There's a LEGO store in Bellevue Square which is a reasonably short drive/bus ride from Seattle.

I finished the VW camper van, and apart from the goddamn stickers, it was a fun build. The front half of the roof has some poor stability when building it, so I guess they don't want you taking it off to show off the front of the vehicle.

I kind of want to look into color swapping the red though. Nothing really looked uncommon, but you know how lego pieces on bricklink are.

Next trip to the lego store might finally be when I get one of the POTC ships, since they're never on clearance around here. Target even has both of them at $119. I like the little free sopwith camel they gave me, so I might get the big one too.
