They should do another ambassador thing for people who already own a 3DS. Provide proof of purchase of both original 3DS and the XL and get sent a code to be able to download like 10 games or something.
Wouldn't really hurt their bottom line at all and would encourage people to upgrade.

I honestly don't know why Nintendo and Sony don't do something like this. Give away some PSP and/or PS1 ROM downloads with every Vita and some old NES and Gameboy games with every 3DS purchase.
Doesn't affect their bottom line and provides extra value to the buyer.
So my current Nintendo handheld is a launch day DS and I haven't had anything else since then. Will this things screen pretty much be the best Nintendo has to offer by the time B&W2 come out?

It has always been like that. They should do another ambassador thing for people who already own a 3DS. Provide proof of purchase of both original 3DS and the XL and get sent a code to be able to download like 10 games or something.

Seriously? Wow, I didn't realise it was so big. Awesome.
Even a modest increase can make a huge difference. DSi's really not that much larger screen-wise than the prior two DS models, but it made the PSP seem from huge to just mildly bigger... mostly owing to being widescreen.Seriously? Wow, I didn't realise it was so big. Awesome.
3DS XL weighs more than DSi XL? Looks like I won't be getting one then. DSi XL was horrible to play, for me. My wrists started hurting after holding it for more than 10 minutes. It was like holding a brick.
Why does everyone like the bigger screen? I've never used the ds XL, but for anything monitor/tv related I also prefer the largest resolution to the smallest screen size. To a certain degree of course, I'm assuming the games are all the same reso across both 3DS systems so won't that make it look worse scaling it to a larger screen? (Think older iphone games running on the ipad)

Except this isn't an upgrade, it's not better than the original 3DS nor is it meant to be a replacement. Nintendo has no need to seduce existing 3DS owners into buying the XL. And of course, the fact that they are selling GBC and NES games means that giving them away to everyone would most definitely affect their bottom line. And already has, due to the Ambassador program I already have The Legend of Zelda on my 3DS, I won't be buying it this summer.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking $5 per ROM is a ripoff so there is no bottom-line effect in giving the content away to entice the hardware sale.
I already bought the Legend of Zelda once, then got it again for preorder of WW on Gamecube. I won't be paying $5 of an NES ROM, so they aren't losing any bottom line with me because I was never going to pay their insane prices to begin with. (I can get Shining Force on iphone for $1. $5 is highway robbery Nintendo.)

And you don't think a sticker on the box saying "buy now and you will also get 5 free game downloads" would possibly entice someone to be more likely to pull the trigger?
One thing bothers me - why the upper part of new 3DS isn't concave like in its predeseccors. Won't the screen be more affected to scratches?
Where's the stylus located on this thing?
Is this going to be anyone's first 3DS like me? Gonna get the red with that Kingdom Hearts game.![]()

Well it's conceivable that Nintendo would do it with the caveat that developers would have to make their games playable on both the 2 slide pad configurations and the 1 slide pad configurations. (See: Revelations, Kid Icarus.) I'm not surprised they didn't though, it adds bulk and cost.I honestly can't understand how anybody anywhere thought there would be a second stick rendering all 3DSs sold up until now obsolete. Somebody explain why they would ever expect such a thing.

Yeah a lot of bulk would have to be added to the system, something Nintendo's just not willing to do.And I don't think dual analogs got everyone screaming to make vita games either. The issue here is 4 TRIGGERS.
how the fuck do you do that?
Me too.Really thinking about getting one of these. Need to see one in person before I make my decision though. I hope there are some trade-in programs for existing 3DSs. Also, are they making a bigger circle pad pro for this? Don't want to get one now and render it obsolete within a month or two.
That shouldn't be a problem, but I think Nintendo only allows for X number of transfers. I think that number is 5. So you should be alright, but you'll be using 2 out of 5 lifetime transfers.I have some questions regarding system transfers. My current situation is as such: I own a DS Lite, DSi and a 3DS. I prefer playing DS games on my DS Lite, but I have my DSi to play DSiWare games on. I don't like how DS games are scaled on the 3DS and 1:1 mode is too small so I don't want to transfer my DSiWare games to it. However, I think I will like playing DS games on a 3DS XL in 1:1 mode because of the larger screen.
So what I would like to do is transfer my DSiWare games to my current 3DS now. Then trade my DSi to Gamestop to get the trade bonus towards a 3DS XL. Then when the XL comes out, I want to transfer everything on my current 3DS, including the recently transferred DSiWare games, to the XL and give my old 3DS to my wife. Is anyone aware of any issues with trying to do any of this?

The Vita can't even properly emulate PS1 games because it has only two triggers.
Part of me accepts that Nintendos's vision of the 3DS has one stick and the frankenstick will be forgotten much like the OG rumble pack.
But part of me also thinks that with a bit more foresight the 3DS could have had some amazing WiiU functionality if they just put the second stick in from the get go.
Get a screen protector then.Looking at all these pics...There's something on my mind.
The plastic frame of that bottom screen looks like its still subject to damage the upper screen, I mean, look at how it seems to pop-out. o_o

Just use a microfiber cloth, now you could probably just lay an entire one on, instead of folding it in half, or cutting it.
it's a bit hard to tell, but i do think the top 2 little bumps are suppose to lay on the bottom frame... or why else would they be there?
I think thats actually the initial reason for the backtouch existingThe Vita can't even properly emulate PS1 games because it has only two triggers.
I think thats actually the initial reason for the backtouch existing
L2 = left side of backtouch, R2 = right side.
and left side of touchscreen = L3, right side = R3.
