Show us your gaming setup: 2012 Edition

So you think they sound better than in terms of price comparable floorstanding passive speakers? I might try to get a demo of the 8050As.

Yeah, they are godly. Best get a demo. Take a good set of music with you. Dido sounds so good it makes me want to cry.

8050s seem a bit crazy though, unless your house is massive.

Certainly beats your setup in Afghanistan!

No weapon, which was attached to me for a year...even when I showered, which is nice! Don't miss it.

Lunch,

DC and J-PS3 games are nothing special: Jet Set, DoA, some new releases like Pink Bullets, the G.Rev PS3 Port, Bayonetta, Arcana Heart 3.

PC Master Race here. I hate having two different monitors, but the Hannspree was a gift and extra 1080p space was nice to have. I'm still planning on triple monitors, but for now this will suffice. I don't know if it was here or another board, but whoever mentioned the Galant , you're a life-saver! I needed a corner desk that will eventually support three 24' monitors and the Galant was exactly the thing I needed.

Just an old TV I mainly use for the PS2:

I currently don't have any HD consoles, but once I get one (PS3 specifically), this is where I'll use it. It's a Sony 60' rear projection. Pretty old (by HDTV standards), but it was also free, so no complaining there:

I thought of the 8050s because of the bigger frequency range (i.e. deeper) and it should work better in larger rooms. But in the end I should really demo the setup somewhere. Thanks!

I'm in the middle of a house renovation. When all is done, I'll be mounting my 55" tv, but I still need something below it to hold my systems.

I'm currently looking at this

However, I'm afraid of cable clutter behind and underneath that unit. Anyone have any advice on that? Or perhaps a suggestion on a different stand for the systems/cable box/etc?

Very nice set up my friend! I just picked up an EVGA GTX 680 and am loving it so far. No sli or 690 but man, big improvement or my 480.

If you're coming from a 480, I imagine the improvement is pretty substantial. 400 series were furnaces man.

Get an HT Omega card and never look back. Nothing else compares. Well, okay, some stuff, but get an HT Omega anyway.

Will look into this. Any suggestions on PC speakers?

I would avoid anything Ikea. Spend some time at flea markets, and buy something vintage to match your planned decor. Pieces there are often comparably priced to that Ikea shit and are invariably, better made. I requires a little more effort but is worth it in the long run.

Depends on how much you have to spend, but a solid choice that seems to fit a lot of people's price ranges is the Swan M200 MkII speakers.

Ok, since Im new here, Im gonna post mye gamingsetup. And yes, I am 25 yo, and still lives in my parents basement :-D

Maybe it's just the camera creating that haze, but it looks like you've been smoking a lot of weed.

Sorry for the gross phone pics...

360 is hooked up to the TV in the last picture, as is the PC.

Pictures complete with horrendous Fable controller I had to borrow.

Also, my room has zero clutter. I think I'm taking the clean freakery after my mother.

Battlefield 3.

Thanks KAOz. I was thinking that was some kind of flightsim. I'm looking for a good flight sim. Heard IL2 Sturmovik is good. Looking to get a flightstick as well to compliment it. Will setup a flight setup in addition to what I have right now.

If that was my room, the only thing I would need in there would be a fully stocked fridge. Then I'd have no reason to leave. I can only hope that one day I'd have and amazing gaming set-up such as that OP.

Ya man the card idles at 35C and under full load I have not gotten it past 65C, my 480 idled at 63-65C.

It's a world of difference in temps, and a lot more performance.

In the last 3 weeks:
Bought the PS3 Slim (finally nice to have a playstation, and a console again)
Then I had to get the monitor there because I needed something with 1080 resolution for the PS3 and PC as my 19" monitor before was only 1440*900 and I only have an SDTV.
Then today just bought the new desk to make it all sit pretty.

Fuckit, raised the monitor on some PC Vidya game boxes. My setup's exactly what I want right now, just gotta be VERY patient for when I can afford a new PC, this one still holds out but settings creep lower and lower as games get newer and newer.

This is my room whilst I'm away at uni. I don't actually have a bedroom at home any more since my brother moved back in, so this room, in essence, is my home.

Whilst this is by no means a gaming laptop, I do play the occasional game on it, so I'll include this. My desk (including Chromebook, which is utterly not game worthy.)
IMG_1681.jpg

And the little nerd cove in the corner of my room. Xbox 360 and PS3 including some of the games I play more often, dvds, blurays (most anime probably). You might notice there are no PS3 games. That's because I don't really bother with it for gaming so much. What games I do buy I usually sell on. Also, not shown here but stored away in one of the drawers is a region free Bluray player for the US Blurays I own.

New RGB setup for J-360...gonna be my dedicated Dreamcast setup come fall:

c905969d.jpg

Why must you do that to me man? I´d love to have one of those lovely Sony PVMs, but those are scarce here in Mexico and when they do pop up on auctions sites, sellers ask around $300-400 USD for them, and that´s for the lower inch models.

That Lupin figure looks adorable. Where'd you buy it?

Quoting for Lupin III! I see him there.

I like your laptop desk a lot, very clean and tidy. I'm quite OCD with how my desk is laid out; it must be tidy. A lot of my friends find it hilarious, they have food wrappers, old cans and all sorts burying theirs. Each to their own I say.

Haha, very well spotted! Thank you, we are similar in that regard then. I love having a clean and tidy desk/room or whatever else. In a house of 6 students, 4 of them being girls, I'm without doubt the tidiest. I absolutely cannot stand having a messy room! Anywhere else in the house I have no problem with, but my own space HAS to stay tidy otherwise I feel weird.

Amen to that. I'm not too fussed about any other part of the house either. I like my space tidy because I have to live in it, that's that! I'm jealous of the figure by the way! I have a miniature Panson Works Lupin key-chain on my bag (wearing the grey sneaking suit from the pilot film) but would love a bigger one! You can find them on eBay but they're never cheap.

A bit (maybe a lot off topic)... I sadly JUST did become exposed to the masterpiece that is Lupin III.... Any suggestions on must see titles to start with? (Currently english subtitles are still a must for me. Slowly studying my way up that ladder.)

You might want to ask in the anime thread. I'd go for The Castle of Cagliostro though.

Spinal injury so have a very different setup. Rocking one of these puppies:http://www.atdec.com.au/content_common/pr-spacedec-mounting-solutions_articulated-arm.seo which enables me to position the screen on any angle and put it in portrait mode for shmups.
Currently only hooked up is:Xbox360, PC & also hooked up my JTAG xbox360 today so I don't have to change discs if I want to be able to play a different game :-D
Wii, ps2 and ps3 collecting dust. Dolphin and PCSX2 do the job though :-)

Camera pics but nothing special, grateful able to be gaming during difficult times.
Also fuck kinect!

^^

so that sucks a lot. hope you're able to recover. if it's any consolation, kinect totally isn't worth it.

that monitor mount is awesome though. I've always wanted something like that, and now that I know that it already exists and is only like 200 bucks, it's only a matter of time before I own one. it's awesome tips like this that make this the best thread.

Thanks man :-) Yeah, it's not a final setup however the arm is slick and has worked out perfectly. Had to go with an LED screen though as my other 27" monitor was 1kg too heavy.
Also looking into projectors due to being able to mount them and display them in a versatile manner to accommodate my needs.
The injury definitely sucks, but it's good that you've managed to come up with a setup that works for you. Good luck with recovery. :)
Thanks :-) Thank 'god' for the 'future'. Hearing about grandparents not having even a constant radio station back in the day confined to bed from illness/injury. Even books & libraries not in abundance of availability in certain areas/countries to pass the time/distract from pain/reality back then. I'm grateful.

Anyhow :-) game on!

That's a great attitude to have. Hope the recovery goes well.
