Hi GAF!

Living room rearranged and posters added! \o/
Me and my gf have started the complete "gamification" of our apartment and the results are showing:

We removed the old paintings and gave them to my parents.
I plan to buy and frame something to go above the TV, but for now Arkham City stands there. :) I imagined something with 150-200cm in width and 50-70cm in height with a custom frame but that'll cost me around ~$100 or more. No money for now. :/

These posters are official gaming posters that the stores had for those games. I bought them on Ebay for close to nothing. They're A2 in size and the frames are 50x70cm and cheap-ish (~$10 each).

The first part of the couch (the "two seater") from the third picture I usually shift in front of the TV when I'm gaming. We're perfectly happy with this room now, especially since the posters arrived.

I added the pic of my beautiful golden lab Sam. She approves of this setup as we have a huge playing space in front of the TV. :)

Not really my setup, but here's most of my handhelds.

Missing in the photo is my launch PSP, another Lynx (with power problems), and a blue GBC. I also have a Tiger Game.com in the mail (for dirt cheap) and another Gameboy Pocket (in better condition).

I'm trying to complete my handheld collection. Off the top of my head I'm missing the Turbo Express (working on it), Gameboy Light, N-Gage, Gameboy Micro, and Wonderswan series. What else could I add to the mix besides those? I'm not too keen on cheap clones (though I have one of them) and I don't care about those old Tiger games either.

Very nice, my friend. Would love to have a collection like that. Do they all work?

Yep. They all work and all are in mint or near mint condition (aside from the purple gba and gb pocket). I only count working systems. I've replaced the lens on a few of them due to scratches so they look new.

If you see anything you want more information on, feel free to PM me.

Off the top of my head you need a Microvision, Pokemon Mini, Gamate, Mega Duck, Couger Boy, Watara Supervision(various models), Neo Geo pocket, and Pocket Color. The Game Park systems(GP32, GP2X, GP2X Wiz, Caanoo), Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac, Nokia N-Gage, N-Gage QD, Epoch Game Pocket Computer...

I know that this is off topic, but probably someone who has a subscription to this thread knows the answer: do you know what brand/model are the chairs in House MD, last series? Photo here.

Beautiful collection, my man. Inspirational in fact! How long have you been working on it? I was only recently inspired to increase my handheld collection after building a solid home console collection. It does get a bit crazy when you start to get into the really obscure systems, though, as the prices rise sharply as the playability drops.

Looks like I have a lot left. Though, if you look, I do at least have a Neo Geo Pocket Color in there already (between DSi XL and GBA). :)

Thanks, My first handheld believe it or not was the PSP 1000 in 2007. I didn't start collecting till probaly sometime in 2008.

As far as advice goes. Look everywhere. I had a fellow Gaffer help me get the Cougar boy from the Brazilian version of Ebay. I got one of the Supervisions and the Mega Duck from the Dutch version of craigslist sending countless emails to people in both english and dutch hoping one of them wouldn't assume I was a scammer. I got some of my Game Pocket Computer games figuring out how to search for stuff on Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Start with this list:

Do you listen to Retronauts? I recommend listening to episode 74. It's about handheld systems not made by Nintendo.

Don't collect colors. Collecting colors will be the end of you.

Very awesome. I might be missing it, but I don't see a Vita?

Got to ask since you guys have so many different setups that look good, any suggestions for a room with no natural light? Going to be moving in to an apartment were my room wont have any natural light but I still plan on having my my desk/computer/ps3 in there not sure how to brighten up the room. Anyone have any experience with this problem?

That you means you can have a projector I guess

Beautiful house man!! Is it a house, town home, etc?

Also, the pic I quoted both makes me giggle and scares me bc of the dude on TVs reflection lol.

Thanks! I just noticed Mesut Ozil in the reflection myself HAHA.

It's a townhouse (1570 SQ feet) with a under ground basement that I'm currently completing.

I like that the dishes sitting in the drying bin match everything else. :) Really good looking place. The little pops of green are nifty.

My wife said thank you!

PC setup:

DSC_0724.jpg

Corsair 500r case
Asus P8Z68 Deluxe motherboard
Core i7 2600k @ 4.6ghz
Evga GTX 690
Corsair H100 CPU Cooler
Corsair 16GB Vengence RAM
Seasonic 1000w Power Supply <--overkill for my 690, this was more for the 580 SLI setup I had
2TB Media HDD
Intel 160GB SSD
Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming keyboard
Razer DeathAdder mouse
Dell U3011 Monitor (2560x1600)

My main setup nowadays since I pretty much just game on PC. Best corner of the house yo. Now I just need to work on the PC speakers and dat dust.

Holy fuck, $1000+ graphics card for the win?

The one and only GTX 690 in the flesh ;)

Pretty rare and they sell out within a few minutes whenever they come in. I had been waiting for one for weeks and during my daily ritual of F5ing Evga.com, they came in and I nearly fell out of my chair trying to get it in time :p

Performance is about 95% of that of 680 SLI, uses less power, quieter, and takes up less space. Nice improvement over the 580 SLI setup I had.

^^Have you thought about adding a sound card? Nice setup!

(surprised to see the Lightnings go lol)

I loved the Lightnings and still have them. They're just in the closet now until I can get a buyer. Made sense to upgrade due to what I outlined earlier, and the fact that the 690 actually has two full 680 cores versus what they did with the 590.

I had an Asus sound card sometime last year and the difference is definitely noticeable, but the drivers were messing with my system so I took the card back. May look into getting one again now that I have more space. Will do a little more research this time.

Get an HT Omega card and never look back. Nothing else compares. Well, okay, some stuff, but get an HT Omega anyway.

Not exactly my set-up, but I decided to gather my humble Nintendo collection for a quick snapshot:

At least I can say I finished about 95% of my collection. ;)

I love that industrial lamp. Was it originally part of teh desk or did you make that setup yourself?

I made it myself out of some copper pipe. It needs to be attached to the wall a bit more securely but the walls are so crumbly, I think I'll leave it for a bit.

Also, it is a gaming setup!! It's just my pc and consoles are nicely hidden somewhere else.

^

Well thanks, I designed the space myself. I moved here because I just fell in love with the neighbourhood. Here are some pics of just outside my place

This is Montreal, right? My current project for work is right there (I think -- I travel for work) on viger ouest

My first time posting in this thread. Finally got the Restoration Hardware Industrial Tool Chest Media Console to complete things. Works very well with the round cast iron crank table in the last photo. What can I say? I love the industrial stuff! Apologies for the low grade iPhone photos (my regular camera is toast).

Very nice set up my friend! I just picked up an EVGA GTX 680 and am loving it so far. No sli or 690 but man, big improvement or my 480.

What Genelec models are those? And why didn't you go for classic floorstanding speakers? I guess they sound brilliant anyhow.

3 x Genelec 8040s in the front, 4 x Genelec 8020s as the surrounds. Was set on this particular model to give me as accurate emulation of speakers used to mix games (eg Kojima/Platinum use similar Genelecs to mix MGSR). Wanted to wallmount so I could best hide the clutter. They sound amazing.

So you think they sound better than in terms of price comparable floorstanding passive speakers? I might try to get a demo of the 8050As.

Back in Europe for a few months. Moving to DC area in October so left a bunch of stuff in storage. So now, a simple set-up to play my games for Aug-Oct. Plan on getting another Candy Cab in September...likely another New Astro.

40" TV for my gaming. Stepping up from a 22" I had in Afghanistan. Currently have a Wii, 360, PS3, Saturn via Flamemeister, DC hooked up:

And Indian movies. Also watch normal movies too, of course:

3DS (my favorite, and new Purple!), upscaler:

Current controllers and Vita. Also, I collect arcade sticks. Tons of them but I chose my Hori Seimitsu for PS3 duties for the next few months:

And EX-SE for 360 stuff...favorite arcade stick, EVER:

New RGB setup for J-360...gonna be my dedicated Dreamcast setup come fall:

Not a great set-up but should keep me happy for a few months!
