Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

I'm going to probably take a couple days off when it comes out. The days before launch, essentially.

I'd love to do that, but I already have off the Friday before Labor Day and we have to request leave around holidays 6 months in advance. That whole week's off limits now, unless I get hit by a bus or something. (Hmmmm... maaaybe... ) I'm OK with that, though - Head Start weekend, short work week, then a 4 day weekend.

I need to start buying funyuns, Hot Pockets and Mountain Dew now, though, because I don't think we'll be leaving the house all weekend.

Looking at some random GW2 information here and there, and... I would have preferred the Kodan to the Norn. The latter is just too similar to Humans. I'm assuming they'll get implemented in an expansion, but it would have been nice if we had access to them from the go.

One furry race is enough. I saw this quote on another page about Kodan vs. Norn.

Anyways, I like the Norn. They are shamanistic people without having to be Shamans.

Yes, Charr and Kodan would both be furry, but... they are dramatically different types and their cultures are basically polar (haha) opposites.

I wouldn't have a problem with the Kodan. I'd totally name mine Kodan O'Brien.

I like the Norn, too, but with only 5 races to start with I do see the point when people say they are too similar to humans. Doesn't really bother me though.

Norn just move kinda slow, is all. I like the lumbering feeling sometimes though. Definitely playing a Norn Mesmer. I got all these shiny muscles and I use the best one. MAH BRAIN

You and Retro. What's up with Funyons and Mountain Dew? Is this some strange gaming stamina combination?

Just got up to 8 points in HoM. Good enough for me. All I wanted was the Living Shortbow. Would have liked to get the Ithas Longbow, but 22 points is entirely out of the question.

The first 6 minutes in to Episode 3, we talk about release date (kayos NOVEMBERRR)

Yeah. Ferny called there only being 3 BWEs too.

Game launches are the closest thing gamers have to a major event (Super Bowl, World Series, etc.), so there's nothing wrong with making a big deal out of it. Splurge a little; get junk food you usually avoid, order pizza... it doesn't happen anywhere near as often as sporting events.

Kodan are cool, but we already have a "Beast" race in the Charr (who pretty much had to be in) and the similarities to Pandarens would draw a lot of unfair heat from WoWheads.

Norn would be fine if their run animation didn't feel so slow.

Those are like, traditional Nerd cuisine. Funyuns, Mountain Dew, and Hot Pockets.

3 day head start is great with the weekend timing. I might take a day off. Biggest issue I have now is my damn mouse is crapping out. Razer Mamba getting the double click virus.

Man, the superbowl (e3) sucked this year.

Looking forward to the championship (game launch) though!

Bleh, you're right, E3 is more of our 'super bowl' considering it's a yearly thing too. I guess game launches are more like having your home team in the championship too.

Ha, Real Pic July is throwing me off, I didn't even notice it was you until I quoted your post.

Luckily, you still two months to replace it.

I think I'll stop torturing myself and quit trying for the HoM awards. I really like the Dervish but I hit some missions that are hard completing with just heroes. I don't like the game enough to try them four or five times. I tried to rerolling a ritualist like the guides say you should, but I find the class and the Factions campaign pretty boring (voice acting can be funny though, some of the worst I've seen in a while).

I can't wait for GW2 though. I have been watching videos of the game on Youtube pretty much every day. I saw a video of some guy gaming the trade market (doubling his money in a few seconds; a bug I think) and have even spoiled myself on some secret areas. I'll stick to pvp or wvw videos from now on.

Good lord. Ill stick to my granola bars and beer.

Sooooooo damn happy I took the week off. That's nerd enough in itself. Only break for me will be going to Jiu Jitsu through the week. No way I'll pass on that.

Hurry up Beta Weekend! I've only tried out an Engineer and decided I didn't like it. After checking out different abilities, I'm thinking either Necro (Necro with an axe seems like it would be fun) or Mesmer.

Heh, I wasn't serious anyways, just that those are the stereotypical 'nerd snacks'. I don't care for Mountain Dew (White Out is kinda good though), Hot Pockets are... well... yeah... and Funyuns are pretty low on my list of junk food.

We'll probably just order Pizza and maybe get some cheese and crackers. Beer sounds good though. Need to find a better liquor store though, the place near us has shite selection.

How far into Nightfall are you? Once you've unlocked a core set of skills for your heroes then you should be able to go through almost all of the regular normal mode content without much trouble. Plus Eye of the North should be experienced at the very least.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the guide. I mean, just playing the games normally (all campaigns, missions and bonus competed in normal mode) should get you to 17/30 or so. The rest is grind-y or requires a ton of money. The main thing is picking a character you'll enjoy leading 7 heroes around with, because that is pretty much what you're going to be doing.

That said, if you're just not enjoying the game that much then I don't think it's worth it for the sake of unlocking some items for Guild Wars 2.

Mountain Dew Throwback
Pizza Sticks from Carino's
Bacon-Wrapped Lil' Smokies

Fuck. Yeah.
EDIT: I was born in the South. This is how we live large and die young.

Another for GAF Asura Team!!!

Wow at that video, Retro. lol. Makes me so glad I haven't eaten a Hot Pocket in over a decade.

I will have an Asura as well. Just torn on what Profession - out of my chosen - that he'll be. I'm leaning towards Engineer, but I already have a badass Engineer human that I dig in the Beta.

Was the litte guy playable in previous betas? I've only played the last stress test and only 3 races were available

I'm guessing he's the best to use as a mage?

Im in vabbi. I picked the master of whispers and the bonus for the mission where you need to make sure no gates fall is a pain. To unlock skills for heroes do I just change my secondary profession and use the signet of capture? The hero skils seem pretty weak.

The Asura and Sylvari have not appeared in the BWEs as of yet. They have only been available in internal testing and some press events.

As far as I know, no race has specific advantages related to professions.

Asura Engineer makes sense after playing EotN.

I usually like having all sexy human girls for characters, but I might make an Asura if it looks good next BWE.

I got 40 ectos and a (basically) complete HoM. However, some OCD part of me hates that the Destroyer Spear is pointing down, and I plan to spend some of those ectos to get one more weapon that points up.

Maybe a Tormented something. Tormented shields look nice.

Yeah, I will confess to having had them as recently as last year. It was a dark time in my life.
Pretty sure that whole Jim Gaffigan show is on Netflix, the whole thing is great.

Damn straight.

Who knows how to party the right way?

That's right. You do.
Keep it real, bro.

Actually really liking this Real Pics July thing.
Don't tell my wife, she took and loves that photo but I think it's goofy.

Oh shit, that's right, she has a GAF account. Damnit

Lol. I wish I was there. T_T

You were there, he was talking about Episode 3, not the one we just recorded last night (which is... 5? I know one of our podcasts didn't get on Youtube). In fact, most of the 6 minutes is you defending your position.

Saw that there's a farmable mission in War in Kryta, and I have always seriously lacked cash in GW1, so I decided to start it up today. Geeze, spent an hour just walking through fields to get to the initial quest objective...ended up just falling asleep for 6 hours, thus losing my afternoon.

At this rate, I should go from 5/30 to 30/30 in a decade.

I signed up for the FFXI free 14 day trial, basically for nostalgia sake and needing something to kill time until GW2, but man, that shit is boring

The walking in that game is ridiculous. The quests and missions are poorly constructed, and you spend the vast majority of time simply auto-attacking in combat.

Kinda regret playing it since its killing my nostalgia. The main negative that i remember when i used to play it was that i spent forever simply trying to find a group (dmg dealer). Oh well

haha holy shit, it's like they just threw those up there

That's because they did literally throw them there, same with the the armor and I believe minipets.

When EOTN launched, when you put a character's armor into the HOM, it'd show a generic statue that looked nothing like your char (and often it'd be a different profession's version of the armor). I think it did the same with the weapons, too, but I'm not sure on the minipets. They pretty much did an emergency day-one patch to change it to what it is today because NOBODY liked the way it was.

If you are lazy go 12, 12 or 9, 9, 9. In Pve normal doesn't really matter, it doesn't punish you that hard if you have sub par builds but it also depends on where you are questing. I say go out and experiment so you learn what works and what doesn't. If you just want something easy go to http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Side note: Hawkian you have a cute mug.

rofl. I hope similar features are treated better in GW2. I would love to see statues of myself or others in the Guild Hall.

I guess I should work towards this.

Since I'm suppose to use that to farm.

Okay. I just saw the Asura video in which he rolls on the floor laughing....

That race is even more awesome than I realized.

Don't know what you want to farm or accomplish but it's not necessary to have a specific build to do content, guessing that build is very efficient. Before you go on a skill hunting trip maybe try with the skills you already have.

Well you have a cute pug!

Why ty good sir, wish it were mine. Getting a Gerbil instead ...which remind me of the Asura, maybe I should name my gerbil Bookah.
I see you have a bit of a stubble, grow it man :D
