Any word on Jet Set Radio? I know the achievement list is out, but I can't find anything about a releasedate, which is weird.

Released today,

Mini Ninjas Adventure - 800msp, 529MB.

Quite interested to see how that turned out. Mini Ninjas is actually brilliant, and although this is basically nothing to do with it gameplay-wise, I'm still hopeful it's good.

As mentioned on PlayXBLA.
July 13th, previous info states 800 MSP. Not much new info out, so don't know if anyone would wanna make a topic for it?

Dangit, July IS my SOA, haha.

Will be picking this up. Seems to only have 3 classes at the start, so I wonder if they are planning on doing regular updates like the PC version?

I don't recall anybody discussing it, but I just picked up and beat (but not completed) the second Mercury/Hg DLC pack. For $3 it was a great value.

There's only one real asshole level, there are a lot of fun and clever levels from all of the best level types in the game, and one of the levels is an amazing and funny homage/recreation of a classic arcade game
Frogger
.

If you're worried about the DLC being a bunch of extremely hard/frustrating levels like the ones at the end of the main game, don't be - most of the levels are moderate in difficulty at best. Easy to complete, challenging to get all atoms for, demanding to score high on. Perfect for me.

The bonus levels and challenges look pretty good. Most of the challenges are too hard for me, but I might try to finish all the bonus levels.

Wow I had no idea that game had new DLC

The way DLC is listed in Xbox marketplace is busted...let us flood the screen with Rock Band songs every day! You should be able to receive notifications that a game you own has new DLC out...

There used to be a section that listed games you own that had DLC. It wasn't perfect as it seemed somewhat random in what games it seemed to be aware you played, but it was better than nothing.

I finished the DLC for this last week too (all atoms), and I'm pretty sure that it was the best XBLA game in 2011. I really think it's that good. The subtle effect that custom soundtracks have on it is perfect. I also loved that spoilered level, genius.

I'm something like top-30 for time over all the levels as well, which is cool 'cause I didn't cheat and use ghosts to copy other people's lines, it was all me :lol

So I've been giving a lot of thought to grabbing Crysis on XBLA. Anybody have any reason why I shouldn't, or is it an OK port?

It's Games on Demand, sorry to nitpick but as someone who writes for an XBLA focused site that's something that really irks me. That game was reported as XBLA even after release because no one bothered to check up on it.

To answer your question though I've heard it's an ok port, basically takes the first game and puts it in Crysis 2's engine, and gives it the same control scheme too.

I didn't realize, my apologies. I just knew it was available digitally on the Xbox 360, and like you said, all previous coverage did a poor job getting that across.

Thanks for the reply though.

Excited for Blitz. I hope it's not boring. At least I have a massive pile of tracks to play with it.

look at the sheer number of those DLCs. 160 each. :shakes head:
Ummm. They've been releasing several Rock Band DLC per week since 2007. If significant numbers of people bought them, Harmonix wouldn't have faced so many near-death experiences. Don't think they're raking in the dough.

A couple of friends and I bought Shoot Many Robots and Trine 2 today.

We went in there to buy Trine 2 and we got SMR on a whim and ended up spending 4 hours straight on it. Fun little game. A couple of Level 50 guys jumped in with us on first play through and we went from level 0 to level 30 in like an hour. but then the connection conked out and I lost my progress down to level 17 and when we started again with a 3rd friend our progress was much slower. In hindsight those Level 50s gave us quite the headstart as they were cutting through everything like butter. Looking forward to unlocking more weapons and stuff, really enjoy the way everyone gets different stuff and there's no fighting over drops.

Trine 2 was a bit boring and frustrating tbh, expected a much nicer co-op experience. Lovely looking game and it's fun being the wizard and thief but being the knight is boring. Some of the puzzles were just plain dull to 'solve' as a trio. "ok wizard make another block to get me up there please".

The Splatters is going on sale for 400 points according to the developer right before summer of arcade. Anyone recommend it???

It's pretty awesome, yeah. It looks like Angry Birds on the surface but you eventually find that it's player controlled chaos that defies any description. Only thing I can figure is that most players never get past the "It's Angry Birds" stage before they put it down for good.

Saw this posted in Fez thread

Not sure if there was a thread on this but Phil Fish opens up and vents a bit about the XBLA policies.

It's a long talk, the stuff about XBLA policies starts at around 10:40.

I think he made a mistake not coming out after Minecraft and Trials. Think Fez gets more sales riding the success of Minecraft.

With all due respect to Mr. Fish, Microsoft's shortcomings in this field are very well documented, and everyone in Hell's Half Acre told him to make a PC port, so I can't help but feel like if he's unhappy with how he's treated, it's at least partially because he confidently ran head-first into it.

As he said in the talk, things were a lot different when he signed the deal. At least in terms of the viability of other platforms compared to XBLA

Any recommendations for something with the following?

-any genre aside from sports
-classic/nostalgic
-fun/reasonable achievements
-max 800 points

Just looking for something cool to play on this fine hot Saturday night. Don't worry about whether or not I already own your recommendation, I don't have that many arcade games. Some that I do have that fit the bill concerning what I'm looking for:

-TMNT Arcade
-Turtles in Time remake
-The Simpsons
-all the Sonic titles except Episode 2

I don't think that's true at all. PC DD has been on the upswing since around 2007-2008 and indie developer grievances with Microsoft have been around since N+ (February 2008). If he didn't choose to hear the chorus or didn't spend some of his time sussing out forward-looking opportunities, that's his fault. Taking 18 quintillion years to put his game out is also his fault.

I feel bad for Smudged Cat Games (The Adventures of Shuggy). I feel bad for Curve Studios (Explodemon). I feel bad for Introversion (Darwinia). I feel bad for the laundry-list of developers, corporate and independent, who got screwed over by Activision folding Sierra and cancelling their projects. I feel bad for Krome. I feel bad for Bizarre. I feel bad for Sarkaban. I feel bad for Cave. I feel bad for Denki. I feel bad for Arkedo. I feel bad for Wideload. I feel bad for an awful lot of small-medium tier developers this generation who were screwed over by external publishers or circumstances.

I feel like Fish had a pretty long time and a lot of forewarning to work on and set up things in a way that would respond well for him. He's not a very sympathetic character at all.

I'm sure he'll make a million bucks when he releases a Steam port. Which he will. Despite his protestations to the contrary.

Burnout Crash?

I thought it was a fun little game and I believe it was 800 points.

I liked the demo, but not $10 worth. Definitely $5 worth. XBLA is really on a roll for me.

EDIT: on a different subject, the XBL Rewards deal of the month is 200 points back on 800 points spent on "any eligible Superhero Movies, Game Add-ons, or Avatar Items in July!" The list of eligible content is wrong (it's for the music deal a few months ago) but this might be a decent deal if you want to get the Avengers Chronicles tables at a discount. $7.50 seems reasonable for those tables, I think.

Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage
Sega Vintage Collection: Golden Axe
Final Fight: Double Impact
X-Men: The Arcade Game (this fits in perfectly with the TMNT and Simpsons games you already have)

This is down in the fine print: Eligible Superheroes are Captain America, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and Iron Man. Limit: One Featured Marketplace offer per Xbox LIVE Rewards member, per month.

So not sure if the Avengers set counts as only two tables feature any of those characters and Captain America only shows up on two of the four tables, I believe, and Iron Man on one of the same tables as Captain America. If it does count that sucks for me as I bought the tables two days ago. Oh boy!

I do believe there is an individual Captain America table and Spider-Man has his own table within a separate Marvel bundle? There's too many for me to keep track of!

This has popped up on xbox.com and has me very interested.

Could be doing with a good VS pool game on XBLA, one that isn't Bankshot Billiards 2 from 2005.

Probably worth getting for 400pts, but don't expect too much. It's very fun to begin with, but beyond the first hour or so it gets very frustrating as you need to be more and more precise but the gameplay makes it impossible. You pretty much have to rely entirely on getting lucky towards the end of the game. You can know what to do, but executing it with split-second precision is difficult, and add to that that the bombs you have to destroy bounce and wobble around, and you really do need lucky breaks. You need to hope stuff's in the right place at the right time, or that it drops nicely or bounces somewhere convenient.

I say that in better words here.

Speaking of N+, what happened to those guys? (The original developers of N, that is.) I remember them working on a game called Robotology that I haven't heard about in years. Are they up to anything?

N+ might still be my favourite XBLA game. I played the shit out of that game multiplayer.

N+ is great, a shame I never could manage to beat some of those last levels in single player.
